Introduction
The Cameron Highlands areas were initially discovered by William Cameron in 1885, occupying an area of 712.8
square kilometers. Cameron Highlands is approximately 200 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur. Developed in the
1930s this place is one of the oldest tourist spots in Malaysia.
The name of Cameron Highland comes from the British explorer and Geologist, William Cameroon who were
ordered by the colonial government to map out the Pahang-Perak border in 1885. 40 years later, Sir George
Maxwell visited the place to see if it could be turned into a resort. He spent days surveying the area.
The climate of Cameron Highland is on the border between subtropical highland climate and tropical
rainforest climate. The temperatures are rarely higher than 25°C but can drop as low as 9 °C.
Tea and strawberry are the plants that can be found in Cameron Highland as they cannot survive in most of
the places in Peninsular Malaysia. Other than apples, oranges, watermelons, and grapes are also types of
fruits that grew on Cameron Highland. Fresh vegetables such as chili, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli,
brinjal, tomato, and green beans also can be found.

1230: Head to Tea Plantation and Factory. (Documentary about tea will be displayed,

The name of the hill came from Louis James Fraser, a Scotsman searching for gold in Australia but ended
up here instead for tin in the 1890s. But Fraser then went missing 25 years later without leaving any
trace. In 1913 the tin ran out, but the valley was rediscovered as a colonial hill resort because of its cooler
temperature. This is due to its location of 1,524 meters above sea level in the Mountain of Pahang.
Fraser's Hill is 105 km from Kuala Lumpur, and it will take around 2 hours by car.
Fraser's Hill still maintains most of its natural appeal despite all the developments and numerous of new
modern hotels and condominiums built on the hill. Visitors can walk around following the hiking trails that
are usually marked by signboards and also visitors can go for birdwatching on this hill. It has more than
270 species of local and migratory birds.

As Batu Caves is a sacred place for the Hindu faith, visitors must abide by the following rules:
Wear clothes that are not overexposed to your body, i.e., especially ladies

MALAYSIA IN THE STATE OF PAHANG. THE MOUNTAIN IS PART OF THE TAHAN RANGE IN THE TENASSERIM HILLS AND IS A POPULAR
DESTINATION AMONG CLIMBERS. A CERTAIN LEVEL OF PHYSICAL ENDURANCE IS REQUIRED TO CONQUER THIS ONE OF THE TOUGHEST
TREKS IN PENINSULAR MALAYSIA.
KUALA TAHAN CLASSIC TRAIL IS THE OLDEST AND MOST SCENIC TRAIL AND TYPICALLY TAKES 7 DAYS OF THE JOURNEY. CLIMBERS MUST
TREK ACROSS UNDULATING RIDGES AND SEVERAL RIVERS CROSSING BEFORE REACHING THE MOUNTAIN. THE OTHER TWO TRAILS ARE
FROM MERAPOH OR SUNGAI RELAU AND ONLY TAKE A 3-4 DAY TRIP.

clothes and a towel to change.
