2. Design Solution
A Contributor personality is always ready to take up any kind of work. He
takes up a challenge as an opportunity.
He takes up and does work in the interest of the whole group.
For a contributor, success means self-fulfillment and maintaining self-esteem.
This mindset we call, the ‘Contributor mindset’.
3. When faced with a challenge, the contributor’s first response is : “Can we find
a solution? This is unlike a non-contributor who may respond to the challenge
by trying a little and giving up, blaming others, or finding excuses to cover up
the issue.
Contributors have found solutions to challenges they faced, and how they
practiced “designing solution”.

5. Bhadla Solar Park
As renewable energy demand is increasing day-by-day, so as to minimize the
use of fossil fuels, India has taken a revolutionary step and one of its example
is Bhadla solar park.
6. It is largest solar park in the world and is spread over total area of 5700
hectares(14,000 acres) located at Bhadla, Jodhpur district, Rajasthan,
India.
The park has total capacity of 2245W and comprises 10 million solar
panels.
The Bhadla solar park project uses pure solar energy to create power,
which it sells to the national grid. It is estimated that it generates
7,32,874 MWH per year.
Rajasthan has the highest solar irradiation of 5.72kWh/m2/day making it
a perfect site for solar park development. The country also has
advantage of maximum solar power potential of 142GW in the country
with vast unused barren and affordable land.
7. Gaganyaan Mission
Gaganyaan is a mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) to
send a three-member crew to space for a period of five to seven days.
The gaganyaan spacecraft will be placed
in a low earth orbit of 300-400 km.
Gaganyaan is significant because it is
the first indigenous mission that will
send Indian astronauts to space.
India is developing the spacecraft and
Russia is helping in the training of the
astronauts.
8. The launch vehicle used for this mission will be the Geosynchronous
Satellite Vehicle GSLV Mk-III. It has the required payload capacity
for the mission.
The spacecraft will take about 36 hours for
the return journey and will land in the Arabian
sea off the Gujarat coast.
In order to take this mission to fruition, ISRO
has worked on crucial technologies such as
crew escape system, re-entry mission
capability, thermal protection system, crew
module configuration, deceleration and
flotation system.
9. Gaganyaan impact:
The success of Gaganyaan can lead to many more experiments with
spaceflight missions.
It will also give a fillip to India’s dream of setting up its own space
station.
10. Bullet Train Project
National High Speed Rail Corporation launches the first bullet train in India
running between Mumbai to Ahmedabad. It is one of the highest speed train.
Economic Boost- Not just people, but even cities along the line of the
corridor are expected to have greater connectivity and experience a jump in
their socio-economic status. It will increase direct and indirect employment,
boost tourism and business.
High speed is one of the biggest reasons for the proposal of this idea when it
was first initiated in India. Major cities connecting with towns of economic
growth face the problem of fast transportation. This would save time and
boost businesses amongst the connected cities.
12. Chennai- Medical Hub Of India
The city of Chennai has been termed “India’s Health Capital”.
Multi- and super-specialty hospitals across the city bring in an estimated 150
international patients every day.
Chennai attracts 45% of health tourism from abroad arriving in the country
and 30 and 40% of domestic health tourists.
13. Factors behind the tousists inflow in the city
include low costs, little to no waiting
period, and facilities offered at the
specialty hospitals in the city.
The city has an estimated 12,500 hospital
beds, of which only half is used by the city’s
population with the rest being shared by
patients from other states of the country
and foreigners.
Dental clinics have attracted dental care tourism to Chennai.
A large number of medical tourism companies are facilitating
foreigners, especially patients from Arabic-, Russian-, and Bangla-
speaking countries.
14. Sikkim- India’s First Organic State
Sikkim is the first organic state in the world. All of its farmland is
certified organic. At the same time, Sikkim approach reaches beyond
organic production and has proven truly transformational for the states
and its citizens.
15. The state decided to go organic, to ensure long-term sustenance of soil
fertility, protection of environment and ecology. The objective was also
to promote healthy living and decreasing the risk of disease.
The policy implemented a phase-out of chemical fertilizers and
pesticides and soon achieved a total ban on the sale and use chemical
pesticides in the state.
Organic agriculture uses naturally occurring substances while prohibiting
or strictly limiting synthetic substances.
This enhances agro-ecosystem health, including Biodiversity, Biological
cycles and soil-biological activity.
16. Key Characteristics of Organic Farming:
Protecting long-term fertility of soils by maintaining organic matter levels
and encouraging soil-biological activity.
Providing crop nutrients indirectly using insoluble nutrient sources by the
action of soil microorganisms.
Weed, disease and pest control by crop rotation.
Minimum biological and chemical intervention.
17. Kerala- Tourist Capital Of India
Kerala, a state situated on the tropical Malabar coast of southwestern
India, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.
Its unique culture and traditions, coupled with its varied demography, have
made Kerala one of the most popular destinations in the world.
Kerala was named by Time Magazine in 2022 among the 50 extraordinary
destinations to explore in its list of the World’s Greatest Places.
Aggressive marketing campaigns launched by the Kerala Tourism
Development Corporation- the government agency that oversees tourism
prospects of the state- laid the foundation for the growth of the tourism
industry.
The tag line “Kerala- God’s Own Country” was adopted in its tourism
promotions and became a global superband.
18. Kerala is well-known for its beaches, backwaters, mountain ranges and
wildlife sanctuaries.
Popular attractions includes the beaches at Kovalam, Muzhappilangad,
Bekal; backwater tourism and lake resorts around Asthamudi lake; hill
stations and resorts at Munnar, Wayanad, Ponmudi; national parks and
wildlife sanctuaries at Periyar, Silent Valley National Park.
19. To further promote tourism in Kerala,
the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival
was started by the Government of
Kerala in 2007.
The state’s tourism agenda promotes
ecologically sustained tourism, which
focuses on the local culture,
wilderness adventures and personal
growth of the local population.
20. UPI- A Revolution to Digital India
UPI is an instant real-time payment system which facilitates inter-bank
peer-to-peer transactions.
The National Payments Corporations Of India, the country’s regulatory
authority for retail digital payments launched UPI in 2016.
Unified Payment Interface is a system that powers multiple bank accounts
into a single mobile application, merging several banking features,
seamless fund routing and merchant payments into one hood.
21. Digital transactions through UPI recorded
phenomenal growth during the pandemic
year 2020-21.
UPI has grown rapidly in the last five years
and more than 40% of all retail digital
payments in India happen through UPI now.
The popularity of UPI is evident from tiny roadside shops to large brands,
many merchants accept UPI-based payments.
The primary reason for this penetration is that UPI accepts transactions as
small as one rupee and for merchants, the absence of MDR that they have to
pay to their banks is significant incencitive to accept UPI payments.
22. Benefits of UPI:
Simplified, hassle-free online payments.
Safe and secure mode of money transfer.
Allows a person to make payments towards bills, shop on e-commerce
websites etc.
Lets a person make payments by scanning QR codes at nearby
departmental stores, chemist shops, etc.
23. Drones For Search And Rescue Operations
Drones provide unique capabilities that are leveraged by emergency
service providers all over the world.
They are already saving thousands of lives through participation in various
public emergency and safety operations.
The 2020 COVID pandemic has accelerated the adoption of drones for
public safety. When humanity was facing a worldwide lockdown,
authorities in India used drones to monitor cities and enforce social
distancing norms.
24. Search and Rescue operations are fairly difficult and unpredictable,
unlike other public safety operations.
These two factors play an important role in overall outcome of SAR
mission:
Time: In most SAR missions, the missing person is trapped in life-
threatening situation, where the person has less time and hence it
becomes to find rescuers at earliest.
Terrain: SAR missions outside human establishments can face challenging
terrain in form of snowy mountain, rainforest, etc. which might slow
operation.
25. Drones can carry different types of
payload that can be used in
different situations.
Two of the popular payloads are
the 4k wide-angle camera and the
thermal camera that are
extensively used during search and
rescue missions.
The real power that drones provide to rescue operators is the easy access
to aerial data of large area, which gives the rescue team the ability to
expedite the process of finding a missing person.
