This document discusses the rewards and satisfaction that high school soccer referees experience from officiating over the long term. It identifies three major types of rewards: physical fitness, mental fitness and attitude, and social networking. For physical fitness, refereeing can improve general health, weight control, stamina, reflexes, and energy levels. Mental fitness rewards include developing confidence and a positive attitude. Social networking allows referees to form relationships within the soccer community.

The NFHS Interscolastic Soccer Referee who
continues to officiate over a long period of
time does so far a variety of reason. Many feel
the motivation to continue their involment, but
not all the try to identify the reasons they
continued to officiate.
If you were asked why you continue to referee
what would you answer? Perhaps; for the run,
for the excitement, for the opportunity to
continue in the soccer perhaps for another
other reason that makes sense to you? These
may be among the more common reasons given

analyze all of the possible reasons, you could
probably identify a great number of additional
reward, satisfaction and benefits that you really
derive fron your activity as an Interscholastic
Soccer Referee.
In this short discussion, we’ll try to identify what
your high school soccer refereeing means in
terms of some of the possible rewards,
satisfaction and benefits that you can realize
through your participation
