2. Vacuum Drying of Gas Pipelines
With about 17% of the world's proven gas reserves, Gazprom has more gas than
most other companies. Coming from liquid ring vacuum systems, skilled Russian
engineers were seeking for an alternative. UV50 H pumps of Pneumofore with
water vapor suction capability are used now with vast results in terms of drying
time and involved costs. The extra sturdy design fits the special requirements for
mobile operation on truck trailers.
Compressors in Mines
A special version of compressors was designed for the use in explosive areas. The
rotary vane air ends allow lower temperatures, thus minor risk of fire caused by
heat. Besides ATEX certification, the units were moved easily in elevators and
tunnels of coal and salt mines to their installation location 700 m below ground
level. Several compressors are running 24/7 since 10+ years.
Higher Productivity for Swiss EPS Manufacturer
In Switzerland, near Lucerne, the EPS manufacturer Baukork Swisspor produces
both blocks and small moulds under severe environmental restrictions since
decades. Switzerland's laws don't allow emissions of the gas pentane in the
atmosphere, therefore it is collected and burned. This environmentally controlled

Vacuum Improvement at SGD
Saint-Gobain Desjonquères has a plant in Sucy en Brie, in France, specialized in
hollow glass containers for the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry. For 7 IS
lines with the total of 52 sections, the previous vacuum system investment,
motivated by low purchasing prices, failed due to the inadequate choice for the
continuous, heavy duty operation required in glassworks. In 2011 the vacuum
level was improved with 1 x UV30 VS55 vacuum pump of Pneumofore.
Airbus 310 Flight Simulation
Commissioned by Airbus, the Fraunhofer Institute near Munich in Germany is
presently performing research on improving the impact of cabin environment on
passenger health in long distance flights. Atmospheric pressure, relative
humidity, vibration, and air composition all affect human comfort in an aircraft. In
a simulated airplane cruising at 30.000 feet, experimental passengers are
monitored for their reaction under real flight circumstances.
