4. The Sahpathi Model
Main Role in Implementation:
COMMUNITY FACILITATOR
Provides supplementary learning support to her group of
15-20 children
Conducts assessments
Tracks children on a daily basis if required
Connects with the parents to inform them of the progress
of the children and the challenges faced
Organize community events and gatherings
Support Role in Implementation:
SAHPATHI RESOURCE CENTRE (EDULEVER)
Develop the processes and tools (curricula) for Sahpathi
Build capacity of the Community Facilitators
Maintain all records and children’s data, including
children’s learning portfolios
Secondary Role in Implementation:
BRIDGE MENTOR
Helps the Community Facilitator in doing
her tasks
Connects the children to technology tools
so that they are not left behind
Garners support for Sahpathi in the
nearby communities
5. What’s happening at Sahpathi now?
• 100 children of Silokhra have been identified and enrolled in Sahpathi
• Supplementary classes being run to bridge the deficit
• Curriculum is being developed with support from Prof. Jalaluddin (NEEV Foundation)
• Collaboration with a local community school to improve their teaching-learning process
• Children being tracked on a daily basis to ensure school attendance
• Learning assessments being conducted quarterly to track their progress
• Wherever needed, children being enrolled in a formal school
• Community events being organized and planned to spread awareness levels
• A “Buddy System” is in place, in which a child from the other end of the socioeconomic spectrum
becomes a buddy with a Sahpathi child of a similar age.
