he century old KILFENORA
CÉILí BAND bring the best
of traditional Irish music and
dance to the National Concert Hall
stage this St. Patrick’s week (16 March
at 8pm) as part of ESB LIVE 2015.
The concert, which features special
guest dancer Michael Donnellan and
his Kickin Crew, together with singer
Don Stiffe, coincides with the launch
of their new album ‘Now is The Hour’.
Produced by Lunasa’s Kevin Crawford
‘Now is the Hour’ (due for release on
13 March), showcases a musical gear-
change with a more contemporary
sound coming from the 13-member
traditional group while also staying
true to their rich dance music heritage
of County Clare. The band will also be
undertaking a national tour bringing
their music to audiences all around
Ireland.
After 105 years in the business, the
world-renowned Kilfenora Céilí
Band is seen by many aficionados as
the quintessential Irish céilí band.
Their core repertoire of dance music,
puntuated with an incomparable lift
and rhythm, defines an unbroken
tradition that dates from the
beginning of the twentieth century.
Despite this link with the past,
their recent recordings and concert
performances point to a broadening
of the perceived boundaries of
their genre. Collaborations with
a diverse range of song and dance
artists, experimentation with
repertoire outside of the dance
domain and complex harmonic
arrangements speak to an ensemble
who are pioneering new and exciting
performance contexts for the céilí
band genre.
The band has travelled extensively,
visiting Britain, Northern Ireland,
Europe and the U.S. They have
performed at Glastonbury twice and
in 2009 headlined on the Acoustic
Stage. The band has also performed
concerts in Milwaukee, Lincoln
Centre New York, Ireland’s National
Concert Hall and Cork Opera House
to name but a few.
The Kilfenora features fiddles, bass,
cello, flutes, banjo, concertina and
accordion with what Folk Magazine
called ‘one of the tightest rhythm
sections in the world’. Fantastic, feel-
good, happy, lively music;Irish music
lovers all over the world are going to
absolutely cherish this album.

The Prodigy - The Day Is
My Enemy
The Day Is My Enemy is the upcoming
sixth studio album by electronic music
group The Prodigy. It is the follow-up to
2009’s Invaders Must Die. The album title
is a reference to the Cole Porter song “All
Through the Night”, in particular its lyrics
“the day is my enemy, the night my friend”,
although it is the Ella Fitzgerald version
that first inspired the title track. The current members include Liam Howlett
(keyboardist and main songwriter/composer), Keith Flint (dancer and
vocalist), Leo Crabtree (drums), Rob Holliday (lead guitarist) and Maxim
Reality (MC and vocalist). The album is scheduled to be released on March 30,
2015.
Noel Gallagher - Chasing
Yesterday
Chasing Yesterday is the second studio
by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
In February 2014, former Oasis producer
Mark Coyle revealed that Gallagher had
written between 50 and 60 songs for the
new album, which he was in the process of
“whittling down into an album”. Talking
about the songs, he claimed that “Noel’s
new album is fucking great”, comparing it in style to Oasis album Definitely
Maybe, describing it as “seismic”. Gallagher claimed that he “literally came
up with the name a week earlier”, adding that “if he could change it he
would change it” . It is released on March 2, 2015
Kelly Clarkson - Piece By
Piece
Unbelievably enough Piece by Piece is the
seventh studio album by Kelly Clarkson.
It is the follow-up to her first Christmas
album, Wrapped in Red (2013), it is her
first studio album to completely contain
original material since Stronger (2011).
On the day of its release a limited edition
box set will be released also , containing
a deluxe edition of the album and 17-piece lyric card puzzle housed in a
customized holographic foil stamped box to correspond to each track. She has
also announced plans to tour in Summer 2015, with its unique pre-sale ticket
codes hidden in each box set. Set for release on February 27,2015
