Field investigations in industrial and military facilities as well as in private houses.
Results and benefits:
Consolidation of the skills required for efficient project management including business and
administration aspects.Analysis of the market of mould inspection and delivery of a business plan
for a commercial activity in the sector. Awarding of the degree of Master in Sciences of Business
Administration.

Objectives:
To reorganize and develop the activities of the biological resource centre (BRC) BCCM-IHEM,
specialized in pathogenic and allergenic fungi, in order to meet the guidelines prepared by the
OECD task force on BRCs
Approaches:
Reorganization of team management; improvement of external and internal communication,
clarification of task table, definition of individualized objectives. Extension of the scope of
accreditation, in order to guarantee the reference materials are produced according to the ISO/IEC
17025 + ISO guides 34. Aspecial effort was made to answer the client inquiries, (immediate
response to complaints, communication about prizing, customer satisfaction survey).
Results and benefits:
Improved internal communication and traceability of processes. Reference materials, and test
results delivered on time. Very positive QAS audit reports from the accreditation body (BELAC) and
clients from the pharmaceutical sector. Feasibility analysis for the implementation of bio-security
measures to the collection of pathogenic strains. Support to clinical laboratories for the
characterization of highly pathogenic fungi (BSL3).
Level of intervention:
Responsible for daily staff (18) management, contacts with clients and partners; strategic decisions
and budgets. Do represent the unit at the direction and management committee of the consortium of
the Belgian Coordinated Collection of Microorganisms (5 units). Do report to the director of BCCM-
IHEM for modification form the strategic plan.
