The pilot project "Flush Shower and Go" was officially launched in Matsangoni trade center in Kilifi county, Kenya. The project involved building toilets and showers using recycled materials from an old public toilet building. The community worked hard together over the course of construction, which was halfway completed within two days due to their efforts. They were proud to have jobs and help with the project. Ultimately, the building was finished with two shower stalls, two toilets, two basins, and mirrors for both men and women. It opened officially on May 12, 2014 with approval from local government, and aims to improve sanitation for residents of Matsangoni.

This project is realised with the help of GetItDone.org. Which is a
crowdfunding platform. Without the help of the anonymus
donators we could not have realised this pilot project in
Matsangoni trade centre, Kilifi county. Foundation Pamoja Kenia
now officially works with the government of Kilifi county. To
realise another Flush Shower and Go project, the foundation
needs € 7000,-. Foundation Pamoja Kenia has the ambition to
realise approximately 6 of these projects, for the benefit of the
people/community in Matsangoni. And at the same time
foundation Pamoja Kenia will look further for already existing
‘public’ toilets and she will try to upgrade them to the standards
of the rules of the foundation.
