PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Peter Winton loves his sport.
He has more than 40 years' experience in the eques-
trian industry – as an international sportsman,
administrator, trainer, coach, manager and event
organiser. He has in-depth knowledge of the sport at
every level, and of the events and sports industry.
Having worked in Australia, Germany, the United
Kingdom, Belgium, Holland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia,
China and SE Asia, Peter has established an exten-
sive global network covering sports governing
bodies, show organisers and promoters, logistics,
media networks, marketing agencies and govern-
ment agencies.
Equally important is his long relationship with Asia and his understanding of the cultural
nuances between West and East.
Following the 2006 FEI World Cup Final Jumping in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nicholas
Brooks-Ward, a leading British event organiser of high-profile international equestrian
events lauded Peter's skills:
“Your skill in dealing with so many complex issues and your coolness under pressure
was a sight to see and something that event organisers would envy. I hope our
London Olympic organizers will perform as well.”
“The equestrian sport is my lifeblood. It flows with passion through my
veins and gives me the inspiration to excel.
My aim is to be part of a team producing great sport, great events, great
management and to leave behind a proud legacy for the nation and the
sport.
Success is not just about money. It is about teamwork, passion, commit-
ment, dedication, trust and honour. I will give it my all. It’s a guarantee.”

3. Sports Administration
Asiapromote Ventures was founded in 1999 to translate an equestrian dream to reality.
He conceptualised, developed, led the drive for support and sponsorship and managed
the world-acclaimed and award-winning CSI 5-Star KL Grand Prix.
Former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mohamad Mahathir, the most successful Prime
Minister ever in Malaysia, had the vision to support and embrace the KL Grand Prix project
at its inception and remains its Patron till today.
The enormous success of the 2003 and 2004 KL Grand Prix led to Asiapromote winning
the bid for Malaysia to host the FEI World Cup Final Jumping in 2006. Malaysia is the first
country outside Europe and the USA to be awarded this honour. It was acclaimed as the
best Final ever by riders, trainers and by the FEI. Peter led the organising committee and
was Show Director.
The effort was especially notable for being organized in a country where the horse sport
is very niche and very new. Creating excitement, entertainment, glamour and new
converts - riders, government, sponsors and of course fans and followers.
Every event was successfully staged and completed within or under budget limits.

Peter has worked directly with the Prime Ministers Department, the Ministry of Finance,
Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Health, The Army, Security Services,
Police, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur as well as the European Union to ensure every detail
was successfully taken care of. That experience in diplomatically and successfully
dealing with ministers and government departments is a key to achieving best results.
4. Sports Business Sports Event Management Award, London
The 2007 FEI 5-Star KL Grand Prix won the Bronze Award at the
London-based Sports Business Sports Event Management Awards
out of 150 nominated events. No other equestrian event has ever
won any award though some, including the Beijing/Hong Kong
Equestrian Olympic Games was nominated.
The Equestrian World Tsunami Fund
Following the 2004 Asian Tsunami, Asiapromote and the CSI 5 Star
KL Grand Prix (as the only major international CSI event in the
region) took the lead for the equestrian world, working with many
Federations and individuals to raise money to support the tens of
thousands of orphaned children in Indonesia.
Horse-aid / Just One Percent
As the glamour of donating to the Tsunami victims petered out,
Asiapromote concieved a new charity effort – “Just One
Percent”which could be sustainable in the long term. As a test, it
was implemented at every event organised by Asiapromote in
Malaysia. It received the support of UN officials, the King and the
last two Prime Ministers. Asiapromote is ready to present the plan
to FEI and, hopefully, to IOC. The equestrian sport could perhaps
lead the world in ongoing sustainable charity work.
The first 5 Star event in Asia
The first FEI World Cup Final in Asia
The first ever combined FEI General Assembly and FEI World Cup Final
The first equestrian event ever to win an international organisation and
