1. UPPER BODY STRETCHES WITH KAREN
1) Child's pose with lat & tricep stretch
Sit in child's pose (big toes touch, knees out wide, torso drapes between
thighs)
Place 2 blocks in front of you
bend at the elbow and place elbows on blocks
interlace hands behind neck
2. 2) Extended Puppy Pose (for shoulders, lats and upper back)
Start in all-4’s
Keep hips above knees but walk hands as far out as you can
Sink chest towards the floor
Rest chin (harder) or forehead on the floor
Modify for pinchy shoulders- take hands wider or extend one arm at a time while
resting forehead on the back of the opposite hand
3. 3) Shoulder Roll
(stretches front part of shoulder and chest)
I always do this in stages and rest for a few breaths in each position
before deciding if i can move on
Lie face down
Extend one arm to the side as if making a T
shape - start with right side
Opposite palm rests on the floor under the
shoulder
Press yourself over to lie on your right side -
right arm resting on the floor behind you walked
as far away from your body as possible. stay a
few breaths
Top knee ( in this case the left one) will bend
toward the ceiling and foot should go on the floor
behind the right leg
Right leg can slide across the mat to act like a
kickstand so you don't roll back onto your belly.
stay a few breaths
Left arm can reach behind toward your lower back . stay a few breaths
4. finally the bottom leg - right leg here - can also bend toward the ceiling and that foot
can rest on the floor
