CIE Mission and Vision
3. AFLCMC… Providing the Warfighter’s EdgeAFLCMC… Providing the Warfighter’s Edge
The CIE offers an efficient solution to the current mission application test and development
needs of the Air Force
Unlike DISA test facilities, the CIE assigns each customer a System Integrator to coordinate
and support development, testing, and deployment into production – the CIE works with you
from end-to-end
Your assigned CIE team will work with your production staff to ensure a smooth transition
from the test environment into production
The CIE is a ready-made, purpose-built solution that reduces the cost, risk, and impact
incurred by program offices for standing up and sustaining a compliant development and
test environment
CIE staff offers a wealth of experience and
lessons learned to assist programs deploying into
their target environment
The CIE provides an accredited environment
in which program offices may develop
and test with real production data

4. AFLCMC… Providing the Warfighter’s EdgeAFLCMC… Providing the Warfighter’s Edge
The CIE test environment emulates the majority of the end-to-end infrastructure
for multiple deployment environments
AF bases are emulated using Standard Desktop Clients (SDC) and Standard
Servers (SDCC) across a base LAN using a Service Delivery Point (SDP)
router
DISA is emulated using a network designed to emulate DISA policies and
configurations
GCSS-AF is emulated using Akamai and Webseal services
configured to GCSS-AF specifications
The CIE is dynamically configurable to support multiple
program lifecycles to include
DISA Deployment
GCSS-AF Deployment
Legacy System Maintenance
Research and Development

Services
Deploy all GCSS IF service releases, provide CIE zone configuration
management and application/COTS troubleshooting assistance
Support developers who are leveraging emerging technologies by loading
products in the sandbox zone
Application Support
Perform installation/de-installation of applications, assist troubleshooting
environment (network, services, etc.), communicate defects and validate
deployment defect resolution in the Integration and Production
Environments
System Integration
System Integrators (SIs) act as facilitators and liaison between application
developers/SIs, CIE, PMO, and Prod Env – each customer PMO is
assigned their own SI to coordinate the support team and facilitate end-to-
end services
Central point of contact for applications, provide management insight to
application status

Performance Engineering
Bandwidth Analysis – Identifying how much data is transmitted
for each transaction
Load / Stress Test – Applying a simulated user load to the
application to determine if it can handle the required load
Performance Analysis – Analyzing network traffic between
components such as user, applications server, and DB to
determine how the transaction can be improved, “Build a little, test
a little”
Special Projects
Proof of Concept Testing – Evaluating products for true suitability
of needs
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis – Establishing and
executing plans and procedures to identify the root cause of IT
issues and provide appropriate options
