A Challenging Learning Experience
1. A Challenging Learning Experience
A challenging experience in the classroom: Strategies
One of the most challenging experiences for any teacher is dealing with a mixedâlevel classroom. A class I taught had a very wide range of abilities,
spanning from highly academically competent students to students still struggling with the English language. There were also students with learning
disabilities within the classroom, some of which had formal diagnoses, others of which were not diagnosed but whom I strongly suspected of having
learning challenges. I was forced to ensure that all students had meaningful educational experiences and performed to the highest level of their
capabilities. I found 'team learning' techniques to be extremely effective. I would group students of different ability levels and different learning styles
into the same 'team,' and give assignments that drew upon all the students' strengths. For example, as well as give oral presentations (which suited the
confident students who liked to speak in front of the classroom), I also required the students to create pictures to illustrate their assignment. This gave
the ESL students a chance to make a full contribution to the project, along with their more fluent coâlearners. At other times, students of different
ability levels were paired up onâonâone and asked to 'teach one another,' which gave more competent students greater mastery of the subject matter and
an additional skill set of 'teaching,' while still enabled the weaker students to

2. My Experience In College Essay
I hope to contribute my diverse experience in working with different age groups from preschool through firstâyear college students. In addition, I would
like to share my perspective from being a firstâgeneration MexicanâAmerican. As a product from Los Angeles Unified School District and attending
an urban high school, James A. Garfield High School, in East Los Angeles, I want to share my personal experience attending an underâresourced and
overpopulated public high school. Also, I will be able to provide my personal experience in my community as well as share my cultural and family
expectations as a Latina woman. I hope to share my knowledge and understanding of different school districts and communities I have worked with
aside from my own.
At an early age, I had to devote my time out of school by working. My weekends and afterâschool time were either selling ice cream in a truck with my
father or cutting fruit in cart with my mother. Working became a huge barrier towards my education because I did not know how to prioritize my
education while thinking if I did not go to work with my parents we would not have enough money for groceries or rent. I then realized, I did not have
opportunities like the other kids such as joining sports at the park, afterâschool programs, or studying specific subjects I needed extra help.
Unfortunately, the occupation that my parents currently hold is difficult because when the weather is not favorable towards the products they sell there is

3. My Experience At My School
Everyone knows that one kid... who is always up to something, but never gets in trouble. Well that was me, Aiden Young, until I realized that I
needed to change my attitude. It all started on a Monday, and everyone knows Monday is the worst day of the week. I woke up at 7:06 a.m. With
only nine minutes to get dressed, brush my teeth, and eat breakfast. I had missed the bus, and today is the one day they both my mom and dad start
work early. So they were not home to drive me, so I had to ride my bike to school. When I got to school, I had one minute till the bell rang. Of course
that was not enough time to go to my locker that is on the first floor and make it to the third floor. As I guessed I was three minutes late. I tried to
slip into the class going unnoticed. I do not know how but it worked, this may be because my last name is Young and I'm at the bottom of the
roaster. I have algebra first, and as usual I talked most of the time. This is the teacher's mistake because she told us we could choose our seats, and I
sat next to my best friend Michael in the back of the room. Unlike me Michael does well in school, and he is kind of nerdy. I asked him how his
weekend was and he replied with, "I spent my whole weekend study for our Social Studies test." He seemed so annoyed with me, and I totally forgot
to about that test. That is another subject I am going to fail. There was always one thing I wonder about and that was why I was ever even friends

4. For me, learning a language is a complicated process. It is different from learning other subjects. It involves a lot of practices and follow up. When I
talk about my personal experience, I would say that I have a rich experience in learning English as a second language. English was taught to me for
ten years starting from grade seven till graduation from university. After graduation, I felt that I should improve my language skills. Therefore, I did a
lot of efforts personally to increase my fluency. Until now I still learn the language. Indeed, learning a language takes a lifetime.
I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that
my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method. They used to
write bilingual lists of words on board, then we, as students, were asked to copy these lists and memorize them by heart. All teaching concentrated on
reading and writing skills, but there were no activities concentrating on speaking or listening. In addition, grammar rules were taught in that stage of
learning the language as mathematics equations, and we were asked to memorize the rules as we...show more content...
Of course, there are certain defects or gaps in my knowledge or ability to use the English language like using idioms and the appropriateness of some
vocabulary. Idioms have many connotations and denotations in the English language. Sometimes I use an idiom and I mean something, but the
connotations of the idiom means something else. Another gap of my knowledge of the language is the appropriateness of using certain vocabulary.
English language entails high sense of using the appropriate word for describing or narrating something. To my mind, I have not reached this point

5. High School Experience Research Paper
It has been tough gaining School experience, however; my old primary school was very nice in allowing me to shadow different teachers to see if
teaching is the right career path for me. I previously gained work experience in a school 8 years ago nevertheless, things have changed intensely.
Technology is swiftly changing and children often use laptops as well as interactive whiteboards to increase their development in learning. I have been
trying to gain as much experience as possible however, due to work commitments, I have only been able to shadow teachers whilst I have taken
holiday from my current job. Helping teachers in my old Primary school was fantastic as I was able to teach children the basics such as reading or
spelling. I was set a task to determine how well children were reading and to make notes in their reading diaries to allow parents to see how well
their child has developed. Whilst the children were reading I would help them voice certain words that they found tough. I also was in a year three
class and the teacher set them a Maths task I was there to help and make notes in the book to help children develop. The teacher in that classroom
explained to me that she has deliberately sat all mixed abilities across the classroom as children should be...show more content...

6. My Private School Experience
My essay profiles my encounters in a prestigious Toronto private school which characterize my point of view. In general, people assume that in light
of the fact that I had the pleasure of attending a private school I was in a sheltered environment, devoid of struggles such as bullying and surrounded
by wellâdisciplined students. On the contrary, my private school experience was not devoid of challenges and forced me to be vocal. I never
expected that I would feel the chill of my face hitting the cold and the unpleasant gymnasium floor one unforgettable day. I felt shaky and needed
to cry, but held it in. Occasions like this changed my life and made me the individual I am today. My private school classroom consisted of seven to
ten students on average which allowed me to foster closer friendships. In the long run, we became excessively comfortable with each other which
caused division among us. For example, I was insulted by peers which left me feeling dejected and alone. I felt the class dynamic failed to work at
certain times since we had only a few experiences in common which caused disagreements among us. When you attend an allâboy school there are
disagreements about what it is to be a man. A few students thought it is being an intense, solid built fellow who settles the score with his clenched
hands and enjoys temporary pleasures, not somebody who is empathetic or reflects about their actions. An absence of empathy is apparent in an
allâboys school due to this

First week of high school Fun, scaring, exciting are the feelings of my first week of school. This is a brand new experience of my life having to
leave my friends and teachers in middle school behind. New school, new friends and new teachers are all part of this new school year. This one is
different though, it's the first week of high school. Most freshmen like me that enter the school are scared. I think the first week of the school is the
easiest since there would not be a lot of homework and what you need to do is to listen to what you need for the class and know other people well in
the class. But I am wrong, as soon as you get seated on your assigned seat, new teachers start to introduce themselves and start giving tons...show more

8. My High School Experience Essay
When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience everything that comes with being in high school, I mean
who wouldn't? Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say they were
my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say
educational, I mean I've learned so much about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life meant. All
these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a

My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm
proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we broke up
and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his friends and I even considered one of them my best friends,
so when we broke up I didn't only loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then just lose
everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person
could betray someone like that, especially after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened after
all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain.
They gave me hope and a new life for me that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and choosing
who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last
event is the one that taught me the most about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana,

9. My First Year School Experience
Growing up in a family that values relationships has a significant impact in my personality and my educational success. In my early childhood, I
have learned how to be responsible, caring, sharing and independent, which shaped who I am today. In my home environment, we appreciate social
and personal relationships. However, my first year school experience wasn't successful as my home environment. To illustrate, the first year of school
was the hardest stage in my educational experience. I had a class where I had experienced some negative attitude and negative words about my work.
Teachers taught while we listened. The teacher could respond to any questions asked by students. In addition, there was not much of follow up made

To illustrate, during my teaching training, I was taught to pay more attention to deliver the information to the students to make sure that they
understand the content without giving them the chance to share their point of view. In addition, I was advised to have a strong personality in the
classroom so that students would respect me and to not allow them to talk about anything that is not related to the subject or even listen to their views.
Therefore, because I was taught to essentially disregard my students, they won't have a sense of relatedness to me. This is the same training that all
teachers receive in my community, and it needs to be addressed. Teacherâstudent relationships are not strong enough to make students feel comfortable
in the classroom which leads them to miss some classes and have low school outcomes. Thus, I strive to create awareness among teachers and school
administrators about the importance of sense of belonging and its influence on students' academic performance by conducting this research and
reviewing related researches that discuss and investigate the impact of sense of belonging on students' academic achievement. Social bonds and
connections with other people have a long history in psychological researches (Vaz, Falkmer, Ciccarelli, Passmore, Parsons, Black, &... Falkmer,
2015). Psychological researchers and analysts have occasionally referred to

10. I never truly had a high school experience, sure I had a dozen or so friends, but my relationships with them lacked depth. We may have seen each
other on the weekends and laughed at each other's jokes, but in the end it was entirely meaningless. We had almost nothing in common besides the
fact that we attended the same school. The only reason I had made friends with them in the first place was simply out of necessity, after all, no one
wants to be that kid that sits alone at the lunch table. Had we not become friends, each one of us would have been that kid.
Most of my friends weren't academically gifted, not through any fault of their own, after all, they were always busy with their egos. I was a different
case entirely, I had an extreme lack of confidence in almost anything I had done, and they didn't help my situation. During my stay in high school, I
didn't genuinely apply myself. Teachers would consistently tell me about how much my grades would improve if I simply attend classes regularly in
body and spirit. I always shrugged them off and figured that as long as I skirt the line, I'd be fine. I thought to myself, "After all, I had passed through
school all these years using the same method, so why wouldn't it work now?"
Despite my low attendance and lack of effort, teachers still enjoyed my presence and would always say that the few times that I was at their class, I
added a lot to their lessons. I considered these teachers my true friends, not my fellow

11. School Experience : My First Day In My School
I transferred into an all girls catholic school junior year, and it was and it was the most awful experiences to date. The only good part about attending
the school was that it helped me recognize that I had severe anxiety, other then that there is nothing that I took out of going to school there.
My first day, I will never forget, I was handed a schedule with rooms, a rule book, and told my uniform was already not appropriate. I wasn't able to
start class until someone dropped off socks that were the appropriate length, I had to wait in the Deans office until my Aunt ran to the store, and back to
the school to drop them off. By the time I was approved to go to classes I had already missed my first two classes. I was sent off to find my next
class all alone, the school was huge, with a lot of twists and turns, I remember walking through the crowds of girls passing me by feeling as if the
room was spinning, we only had 4 minutes in between classes to get to our lockers, and to the next class.
Finally the bell rang and there was no one left in the halls, but me. I found my class only to be 20 minutes late. I walked in wanting to cry with my
face bright red, there were about 25 girls just staring at me. The class was my first ever french class, the teacher turned to me and said "class this is

12. Well, I've had a pretty bad school experience almost my entire life honestly. Elementary school was the only exception. Elementary school years
were pretty great had a lot of friends, I was popular among teachers I still technically am. Elementary school was fun had a lot of great times and
memories some good some bad, but overall it was pretty great. Minus reading logs those sucked and what made me lose my interest in reading. I was
such a great reader I would read like a 7th or 8thâgrade level book and I would be done with it in an hour or so and we would need like 400â600
minutes of reading. I hated it because I had to find so many different books and read so many books each month to get at least 400 minutes.
Compared to middle school elementary school was a breeze. We had 2 middle schools which the first one was Fire Prairie which was 5th and 6th,
and Osage Trail was 7th and 8th. Now Fire Prairie is now called upper elementary which didn't change until the end of my 6thâgrade year. Fire Prairie
was a whole new world for me because we had 5 elementary schools and they all came together into one school. Well, it seemed like when we got
there everyone acted like they had never met me before all my friends had left me. My only true best friends had moved schools thankfully through
the power of Facebook I can actually contact them again. My life was so different I went from the number 3 spot to the 3rd to the last on the board it
was crazy for me, so I figured well maybe

I have learned so much these past three months while I was student teaching at James A. Dever in Valley Stream, New York. My first placement was in
a secondâgrade classroom. My second placement was in a fifthâgrade inclusion classroom. Student teaching has given me the chance to get handsâon
with the students and the curriculum. As well, it has allowed me to observe how a teacher should or shouldn't be like in a classroom. Student
teaching has shown me so many examples of excellent teaching that you cannot learn from any textbook. It takes experience and a unique type of
teacher who is caring, warm and passionate about teaching and his or her students. As my student teaching experience is coming to an end; I can
now reflect on my experience and review my planning and practical instructions within the classroom. I can also reflect on how I made choices on
curriculum goals and strategies, and evaluate my experiences and my knowledge of my experience at the elementary school. As well, I can now
review how I adapted learning opportunities for my diverse learners within the classrooms.
The first area I can reflect on is my planning and practical instruction in both my placements at James A. Diver. I have learned multiple ways to plan
and teach a lesson at Molloy College and then I used my knowledge from Molloy College and applied it to my lessons at James A. Diver. As well, I
was able to observe how the cooperative teachers in both placements planned and taught each subject area.

14. My Experience At High School Essay
High School: A time in our lives that sets the mold for who we are going to be in this world. It does this by teaching us great lessons about life,
ourselves, and other people through various experiences. One of these experiences I chose to take part in was football. It was this decision that
led me to this fateful day. A day in which my left leg was shattered and my perspectives on life were drastically changed. The journey I had embark
on to deal with all of the after effects of this event taught me life lessons I'll never forget. It was October 24th, 2014. This date fell on a Friday and
during football season that meant it was game day for most high school teams. Not just any game though, it was our district championship. I
remember it all like it was yesterday. The smell of the fresh cut grass was so satisfying and the grass itself was even more delightful to see on the
field. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Both cheer squads were screaming their chants. Fans and parents alike were yelling and clapping. My
shoulder pads were fastened tight around my ribs and shoulders. The adrenaline was flowing through my veins. My mind was prepared for the game
but not what was about to befall me. This is where the story starts to spiral downwards. It was about five minutes into the first quarter and we ran up
the middle. I was the designated lead blocker. I lunged at the linebacker full force and knocked him down. I had so much momentum going towards him
that I went straight to the

16. My School Experience Reading And Writing
Throughout my school experience reading and writing was always a struggle for me. I did not like to read because I could not remember anything
I read, and I did not like to write because what I wrote was unorganized. Reading also can help improve writing, but when I was younger, I was
stubborn and not aware of that. I had no confidence and thought I was never going to achieve good grades in an English class. So I let my grades
slip and with that I decided to not go to college after high school. A few years out of high school, I took courses and a course in English. In the
course I learned a great deal and realized, finally, that it was my low confidence level that was affecting me negatively. Then, starting this class, years
later, going through all the modules, it was interesting to see how wrong I have been writing in the past and that there are easy outlines that can help
with organizing a paper. The writing process is there to help guide people along so the writing will flow easier throughout an essay. With an abundance
of hard work, reading essays and novels, going through the eâlearning modules, and the help of my teacher and classmates, I have gained the
selfâassurance I needed to write well and understand the writing process. In the narrative essay I had assigned I really struggled finding an
appropriate thesis, as well as, figuring out the difference between a narrative essay and reflective essay. I was getting the two types of essays mixed

The High School Experience
The high school experience is something that will forever dominate the psyche of most American adults. It was an unforgettable time of fun,
rebelârousing, summer loves and parties. It was a time of warm summer days at the pool and chilly autumn nights, watching the football team and
wondering were the party was going to be that night. School dances and hotel parties. Seems like all I can remember are the good times. High School is

"The Breakfast Club" characterizes this phenomena by depicting the "jock, the brain, the basketcase, the princess, and the juvenile delinquent". In the
movie each character is representative of the social class to which they belong. The "jock" signifies the sports star that can do no wrong, but the movie
character bullies another boy and when caught all he received was detention. Although on the other hand the delinquent who is a dope smoking, foul
mouthed punk, received the same punishment for talking back to a teacher. Administrators and teachers are very quick to meet out severe punishment
to those students that they have deemed worthless, while good kids get a slap on the wrist. The movie's jock is placed in Saturday detention, instead of
being suspended, so that he may wrestle in an upcoming tournament; a case in which Hollywood makes an accurate depiction. This is the "holding of
power" that Wehlage and Rutter spoke about in their study, High School and Beyond. Students who receive better treatment seem to do better in school
when subjected to "an orderly environment, a committed and caring faculty, and an emphasis on academic pursuits"(Nieto,100).
The movie goes on to compare and contrast the "princess" and the "basketcase", both seventeen year old girls who endeavor male attention, yet one is
the cool crowd prom queen and the other is the loser, burnout crowd weirdo. Brian, the narrating brain, is a

18. Experience : My School Experience
My School Experience I think school experience is individual and for many reasons. Mine had good points, rough points and moments where I
couldn't function to even attend. They don't have the same services that they do now as when I was in school. Many people believe that school
prepares you for life and your future. I always felt like school was a place to put kids but didn't really prepare them for the realities of life. I wouldn't
say my school experience was bad, I just always felt bored. The kids seemed to be very immature and that annoyed me the further along into
school I went. I was active in sports and got good enough grades to play but I didn't enjoy school. I always felt like I wanted to get out and experience
life. I have not only been a public school student but a parent of a special needs child and an employee. My background gives me the ability to see
the faculty, parent and student views as well as find a middle ground when trying to mediate concerns and problems. My child was special needs and
placed in a selfâcontained room for several years. My concern about that type of placement would be not making the child feel marginalized or
labeled and the negative consequences that can bring. However I do believe that they have benefits if the child needs them. I most difficult experience
I had was dealing with being raped and telling no one while trying to still function. I think mostly because the prevailing theme of the time was that you

older neighbor had the opportunity to have. I was extremely excited to show off how well I could write my name, but my teachers did not think I
could read. A few months passed, and my Mrs. Spencer suggested I visit the eye doctor as I squinted when I tried to read the board. The doctor
explained to my parents that the reason I could not read was because I simply could not see the words. Once I received my first pair of glasses, my
reading jumped multiple levels and my organization improved. Throughout Kindergarten, I developed a crush on a boy in my class, Jake
