My Contribution As A Teacher
My greatest contribution as an instructor has been the time I have spent off the podium. There are several subjects that I may not be familiar with or
maybe seen as the tougher subjects or perhaps even boring. The time that is spent preparing outside of the classroom is extremely important. As an
instructor first and foremost you have to spend countless hours researching a subject, analyze it, and anticipate questions. It is not a comfortable to be
in front of students and not fully knowing the subject. Not only does the material have to make sense to you, you then have to take that material and
think about how to explain it so that every different Soldier from every different background can make sense of it. Practicing teaching methods using
different comparisons, developing training aids all takes a lot of time outside of the duty hours to deliver the best level of instruction possible. Then
there is the time spent improving on the lesson plan. The lesson plans we receive are often times missing information, they order they are in doesn't
make sense and sometimes they are completely blank a give use nothing to go off of. That means dedicating the hours outside of the class room to
improve or even completely build that lesson plan. Time must be spent to ensure that every piece of information the students need is included. This is
not always possible we could easily spend an entire week breaking down the components of an automatic transmission and go into

Becoming a teacher can be an exciting and challenging experience for anyone. It can be quite difficult to put four years of knowledge into their
teaching and into a classroom environment. And while it may seem challenging at first it does become easier over time.
A teacher is not only someone who teaches, but they are a symbol of learning.

The subject matter not only has to be relevant but it also has to be stimulating to the students' curiosity. If a student is bored with the content, they are

Giving children the support for learning by welcoming their questions and encouraging exploration is very important for teachers to do.
Extrinsic motivators are sometimes used when teachers have a student or class who feels like they have earn't something for their hard work. This
could be things such as stickers or stamps on their homework and tests. Or it could be receiving verbal or written praise. It could be just the thing that
motivates certain students. But not all students need to be extrinsically motivated. Teachers need to find out which type of motivation works best for
which student to help them succeed.

The transition from student to teacher is filled with realizations and recollections of how school systems work. Therefore, in order for students to
become successful teachers, they must acknowledge their past experiences and reflect on them in the present. Reflection, along with the creation of

Teaching is one of the most important jobs out there. This is because without teachers you won't get an education to do things beyond and get a
job. Most people don't care about teachers or school because they think it is a chore, but in reality school is the basis of what you will pursue in

I have various goals as a teacher. My role as an elementary school teacher is to make sure the kids feel loved and safe in my classroom. I also will
teach them and expand their knowledge about different concepts. I hope to be a good role model for them, so they can follow me and know what are
good choices. Within my classroom, the student's role in education is to grow as a learner, retain the information I am teaching them, and pay close
attention to me.
I will base all my lessons off of the district's curriculum. I will add fun activities to support those lessons, find fun projects, and play games that go
with the lesson or concept I am teaching. I will do these thing so my students aren't bored and so that the classroom environment isn't plain. My
teaching styles and strategies will be chosen by me thinking back to previous and old teacher I have had in the past and include the ones that have
stuck with me to show in my teaching. A lot of my personality will reflect in the way I teach. Classroom management strategies I will use to keep
my classroom in check will be implementing classroom procedures. These may include lining up in a straight quiet line when exiting the classroom,
and come into the classroom ready to learn. There will also be set rules such as raining you hand when you have something to say, being kind to one
another, always trying you best, come into the classroom with a positive attitude, and most importantly have fun! There will always be students who

There are many theories that are relevant to classroom teaching today. Marsh (2008, p. 17) states that "each theory is nothing more than a set of
reasonable suggestions". A teacher should look at the information available to them and take what is necessary to achieve a positive learning

point of view on students. Another very important part from Vygotsky's work is the concept of a student's zone of proximal development (ZPD).
Vygotsky (as cited by Eggen & Kauchak, 2011) described it as "the distance between the actual development level...and the level of potential
development...under adult guidance...or more capable peers" Once a student is within their ZPD, they can vastly benefit from 'scaffolding', this is

work for the student but to guide in the right direction.

better by constructing them internally, by 'playing around' with numbers, using games and real life situations to link the base knowledge they need to

My Experience As A Student Teacher
Today's classroom is one of variety and challenge. I have seen first hand, in the classroom I observed this semester, the impact of various children's
backgrounds. There were second graders from every walk of life and this diversity impacted how they interacted with each other, and, on some
occasions, how the teacher interacted with them. When working with a group of children such as these, the educator must be aware of every aspect of
diversity in their classroom. Diversity may come in many forms: academic achievement, race, language, or socioeconomic differences, and it may be

It has not been easy but challenging and interesting. Unfortunately in this present job I have no colleagues, institution authorities or supervisors, which
means anything I do in the classroom hardly ever provides me any feedback of what I am doing. Except of course for the eventual commentaries I

I had a teacher in high school that began each class with a funny story or a random fact. We, as students, looked forward to attending to his classes
just to know what he had brought for us that day. He was a stern teacher, but everyone appreciated him because he showed an interest in us enjoying his

An additional way that educators can make the class stimulating while maintaining student interest is to include voice fluctuations and floor coverage

  • 1. My Contribution As A Teacher My greatest contribution as an instructor has been the time I have spent off the podium. There are several subjects that I may not be familiar with or maybe seen as the tougher subjects or perhaps even boring. The time that is spent preparing outside of the classroom is extremely important. As an instructor first and foremost you have to spend countless hours researching a subject, analyze it, and anticipate questions. It is not a comfortable to be in front of students and not fully knowing the subject. Not only does the material have to make sense to you, you then have to take that material and think about how to explain it so that every different Soldier from every different background can make sense of it. Practicing teaching methods using different comparisons, developing training aids all takes a lot of time outside of the duty hours to deliver the best level of instruction possible. Then there is the time spent improving on the lesson plan. The lesson plans we receive are often times missing information, they order they are in doesn't make sense and sometimes they are completely blank a give use nothing to go off of. That means dedicating the hours outside of the class room to improve or even completely build that lesson plan.
