Kalman Kushnir Capital, Northbrook, Illinois. General Office Manager/Executive Administrator for the
principal Investment Consultant. Prepared and submitted new account documents online; operated a
portfolio system composed of six different/interacting systems; reconciliation of same; interaction with
clients as well as greeting walk ins. Filing, organization and appearance of office, etc. The principal
system was Advent/Axys, a convoluted, and involuted system. Approaching the reconciliation of several
month’s portfolios prior to my hire date with a magnitude of errors was essential. However, this process
allowed me to attain a keen knowledge of the systems quirks and operation without much training. What I
was given was a run through of the daily responsibilities/processes from the previous assistant, and cues
from Bob Kalman. The online support was limited and often misleading. August provided an operational
breakdown with the major vendor, in that information was not transmitted at all. Informing Mr. Kalman
of this non-receipt on 8/1 he said that that it did happen on occasion, and requested I concentrate on prior
issues. 9/1 revealed no data had been received for the entire month of August from this same vendor.
Had I the opportunity to have had purposeful training, this and other tasks would have been on point.
Also, I was to have utilized my Quick Book skills and to assume the office manager role, but with the
major system in disarray, this never came to pass. I would come in at 6am, leaving after 7pm, worked
Labor Day,all to track down and correct using detective skills rather than any training I was promised.
After the first month of self-educating, I did in fact, comprehend all the moving parts. However, KKC is
an extremely small firm with a very selective clientele. Also note that my queries addressed directly to
Mr. Kalman proved to be a great disappointment to him, leaving me inwardly nervous, questioning my
every action. On 9/6 all was resolved for August, attesting to my resiliency in resolving disputed matters.
However, what Mr. Kalman had wished for was an “expert of the Advent” system I was training on.
Therefore, he could not retain my services within his comfort level. I was asked to resign to my great
regret. And again, despite the difficult circumstances,I left KKC in good standing. Having the highest
regard for Mr. Kalman in particular.
