3. ABOUT ME
Having worked in the UK jewellery trade for more than 13 years I have
developed a great understanding of the design and production processes
involved in creating beautiful one off pieces as well as pieces for mass
production. I have adapted my skills with every new project at hand.
Ispecialiseindigitaldesigndevelopmentandworkwithavarietyofsoftware
packages to achieve the best results. Having worked for a smaller jewellery
house has helped me develop a variety of additional skills that challenged
me creatively as well as technically.
My time at the Royal College of Art was mainly spent experimenting and
refining my skills to become the best in my field.
All the work you will see in this portfolio has passed through my hands for
design development and 3D design amongst other things and required a
variety of skills, a great deal of teamwork, a greater deal of problem solving
and mostly a passion to create the best work possible. On many I worked
closely with the creative director, but I also included some independent
projects.
This is only a small selection of work, should you require more detail on
specific projects please do not hesitate to ask me. Unfortunately a lot of the
most recent work is still under development and won’t be available to view.
I hope you like what you see,
Patrick
4. ASPREY WOODLAND
I worked on the creation of a signature collection for Asprey and in close
consultation with Creative Director ‘Ben Rowe’ I transformed his drawings
into a beautiful collection of woodland inspired pieces. Beside the creation
of the 3D work I was also responsible to oversee the creation of the masters
used for production, ensuring the pieces will be coherent, commercially via-
ble and made to the highest standard. Following is a small selection of piec-
es. (Paint ups by Ben Rowe)
The collection is currently still being sold at Aspreys and is one of their
biggest sellers.

7. ASPREY STORM SUITE
The initial designs for this collection felt a little flat, so we developed a
layered effect for the pieces. To ensure a gradual enlarging of the colletts I
worked with a plug-in usually used in architecture. The 3D designs and files
created were used by a Geneva workshop to manufacture the pieces to our
specifications. I managed the project in close collaboration with them and
stayed in close contact with the workshop throughout the process.

10. BEETLE BROOCH
This beetle brooch was created for a private client. Throughout the
production process we faced many challenges due to its size. The final
brooch measures 24cm in length and took roughly 18 months to complete.
The final result is a stunning piece, CNC-ed from aluminium, pave set with
sapphires, with bespoke tanzanite buds set in platinum and 4 uniquely
crafted en-tremblant beetles, one with carved rock crystal wings. The entire
piece was planned and sculpted on the PC with many modern techniques
paired with traditional manufacturing used to create this one of a kind
brooch.

15. SWAROVSKI ‘SWIFT’
Swarovski approached us to create a tiara for the Vienna Opera Ball in
2015 and following that they wanted us to create a collection around it.
After the initial designs had been approved I only had 10 days for product
development and CAD of 12 pieces. We provided them with 3D files to be
used in their factories as well as product sheets for manufacture. (Paint up by
Ben Rowe)

20. SHISEIDO
Shiseido wanted us to design special packaging for one of their cosmetic
lines, accompanying this we also created a one of a kind necklace. I worked
on the product development of the packaging as well as the creation of the
jewellery.

23. SHAUN LEANE COLLECTIONS
In the past 12 years I had the amazing opportunity to grow with this jewellery
house, having been responsible for the creation and development of many
collections in silver and gold. Some collections are amazingly organic whilst
others are very clean and geometric, each needing a different approach to
ensure the best result possible. Often the most simple looking designs took
the longest to develop. Working closely with the Creative Director, Ben
Rowe, I was able to refine my skills and look back at a huge body of work.
Following is a small selection of pieces that are either just beautiful or
required me to develop a certain skill or technique to create.

33. SHAUN LEANE BESPOKE
Bespoke jewellery always was and is an important aspect of our creative
output. Our bespoke service ranges from traditional engagement rings
to outlandish creations, each needing extra care to produce to give our
customers a once in a lifetime experience. Due to the nature of the one off
piece I was able to work with great creative freedom, but always in close
collaboration with the Creative Director.

41. FASHION
I have worked on various projects for the fashion industry, from large and
exciting catwalk pieces to smaller elements used on a commercial level.
Following is a selection of projects. My RCA degree show work for Alex
Mattsson was featured in German Fashion Magazine - TUSH.
For the Alexander McQueen - Savage Beauty exhibition at the V&A I was
managing the restauration of several pieces for Shaun Leane.

46. ARCHITECTURE
After winning a commission to create bespoke gates for a new building
project in London, the design that we proposed at Shaun Leane was so
striking that the property developer decided to expand the concept onto the
entire facade. Due to be completed in spring 2018 I was managing the entire
digital design development side of the project. Creating bespoke designs for
each balcony, sculpting the leaves whilst working to specific requirements to
adhere to building standards.

49. SPECIAL PROJECTS
Every time I get the chance to explore new things I try to develop my skillset.
I started doing a lot of product photography, photo realistic renderings
(there are a few amongst the images used in this portfolio) as well as more
creative shoots, I have tried some product animation with Keyshot and I am
currently working on developing my coding skills as well as experimenting
with digital painting.
I always look for new, exciting and creative ways to learn and create and
whilst these projects might not be as polished as the previous work, it was
greatly important for my personal growth.
Other projects in the past include various exhibitions and events.
Street Lights was organized by Carol Woolton - Jewellery Editor of Vogue
UK and I took part in creating a beautiful, hand painted, window display for
Fine Jewellery House CHATILA, inspired by sea side fair grounds, with a
feature in Vogue UK.
Whilst at the RCA I co-curated the exhibition Metal Rocks at the V&A in
London, a one evening event, bringing exiting jewellery concepts into a new
environment.
Smith & Harris commissioned me to design the new chairmans cup for the
British Silver Society fusing traditional and modern technology.
