So why did we decide to purchase OnBoard?
Was it because I was overloaded with work and still had to prepare 12 binders with a minimum of 100 pages each month? Was it because I loved preparing binders with copies, tabs, pretty dividers and then shredding them after each meeting? No! It came at the request of the board.
A little history- in Dec 2010 we purchased OnBoard and our Board was not ready- they thought they were ready, but they weren’t.
In 2011, we had a few changes in board members…
One of our board members that went paperless and used her iPad at every meeting asked when we were going to look at a Board Portal again.
So… Here we are!
Average Age is 57
Oldest Board member is 82
Youngest is 49
As I mentioned on a previous slide, the board drove the request and a few were actively involved in the vendor demos, and selection of the product.
But it took baby steps for some others. We determined what functions/features we rolled out initially as to not overwhelm them. Example the voting feature.
As we implement our branch strategy which is technology driven the board also recognized the opportunity for them to do their part of streamlining and become more efficient in the use of our resources (staff and material..paper, binders, etc.)
Is our board Tech Savvy? Tech users, yes, tech savvy, no.
**As a gift for their service, we gave the board ipads, one of them gave it to his grandson.** So we had to give him a credit union issued ipad when we rolled this out.

One on one and extra hand holding where needed
Some took a little more time than others
Funny Story: When we first started using the portal, I thought I put the minutes in the portal for board review and sent a notification for board members check and review- a board member said “The minutes look fine to me” The minutes weren’t put in the portal!
Just last month, someone was signing on and asked about the offline password.
7 groups-the Audit Committee big help
For our recent SMT Planning meeting, I loaded all items and presentations for the team to access while and review prior to, and during the meeting.
Recently, I just created the Board Training Items where I’m adding resources for board training and items that they can refer to for various questions.
The first month of use, we decided no paper copies, “just in case”
We jumped in feet first and had everyone “try” to use it
We had a few hiccups but were able to overcome
Today, Some would still like a binder but we have not turned back!
27 ITMs in 7 branches throughout the city- Board has been instrumental in the branch strategy

Looking into purchasing a smart board for boardroom
This month will be our 5th month using OnBoard
We are pleased with the system and there is no turning back!
