Helen And L. S. Wong Memorial Scholarship
Picture this, a nice big house in downtown Chicago, driving a nice car to your dream job everyday. Well lets just hope that will be me in the future.
Once said by the great Muhammad Ali "If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, then I can achieve." Well that is my whole mindset
for achieving my goals.
I would like to achieve to get a 4 year scholarship to college that I would really like attend. There are many organizations that can help me achieve this
goal. For example, the Helen and L.S. Wong Memorial Scholarship, The Bill Gates Scholarship, Student Loan Hero, and more. Student Loan Hero is an
organization that helps students loan borrowers manage their debt and provide financial advice, including a scholarship. You may think you won't get a
scholarship just because of your grades but that doesn't even matter. So many scholarships don't take...show more content...
I think when I get to college it will be very challenging for me to keep my grades up while still wanting to go to parties or stuff like that. I would have
to make a schedule so I could keep track of time. A good idea while I am working is I could work with a study group of friends to help make it less
stressful for me to do my work. It is always good to have fun while studying. Right now as a freshman in high school I am practicing that goal. I have
practice almost everyday and still work to do for my classes. I am sure that it is not going to get easier. Although I do get tired when I come home from
practice, I still do my work. Sometimes I do my homework in class so I would have less to do at home. Mrs. Martinez tells us to make a schedule in
our planners and write down our homework assignments so it could help with keeping track of our work in classes. All so have a binder and keep
our stuff organize so we won't stress on finding work. It really helps. I just hope to have a very educational and fun time in

Descriptive Essay On Bill Gates
Take a moment to describe Mr. Bill Gates. When last did you see him in a motion picture or a still picture? What readily comes to your mind as you
attempt to describe him? You very likely would say Microsoft's Bill Gate. Or you could also say an influential Bill Gate. Almost everybody will
describe him as a billionaire, as innovative, and as a success.
If he could be selling the software before it was written, it then tells a lot about him. Bill Gates was not the first person to have the vision to stage a
complete revolution of the computer industry. He was by no means the first person to attempt to change the whole world by means of his inventions.
Countless others have tried it but they abandoned their dreams along the way due to several reasons.
But Bill Gates tried it and made it. He changed the way the computer was being used by means of the company he co–founded with Paul Allen,
Microsoft Corporation. What makes the difference? It was his mindset. Principally he has the mindset of an entrepreneur.
He was once quoted to have said that: "A little blindness is necessary when you undertake risk." An entrepreneur doesn't focus on fears of the unknown
when he's starting a noble investment.
Let's consider the attitudes that collectively form Bill Gates mindset so that you could borrow a leaf from that one too.
1.Competitiveness
Ask Paul Allen, the friend that Bill Gates met in the high school, he would tell you that Bill has an attitude of competition. The healthy

world. Gates is the Chief Executive officer and Paul Allen is VP. They are both very wealthy due to this business.
Microsoft's wealth and power just grew and grew. Microsoft became so rich that could buy out an entire years production of his 99 nearest
competitors, burn it, and still be worth more than Hugh Hefner and Michael Jordan. Microsoft's $25 billion market value tops that of Ford, General
Motors, 3M, Boeing, General Mills, or Anheuser–Busch.
With size comes power. Microsoft dominates the PC market with its MS–DOS operating system, the basic software that lets the computer understand
your commands and carry them out. MS–DOS runs on 90 percent of the worlds IBM computers. Microsoft has extended from MS–DOS to Windows,
which is probably the most important operating system Microsoft has released. Windows '95 is a graphics interface environment that runs on top of
MS–DOS and will, according to Gates, replace DOS in future versions. Microsoft also supplies about 50 percent of the world's software applications:
programs such as Excel (spreadsheets), Microsoft Word (word processing) and Access (data bases). It is also in the business of networking. And

Bill Gates Biography
Bill Gates is not only a genius, but also an innovator in education, technology, and philanthropy. A prodigy, Bill Gates shares an education fact with
Abraham Lincoln, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and even his competitor Steve Jobs: no college degree. Instead, he devoted his time to his passion for
technology, going on to create the most profitable technology company in the world. For much of the past decade, Gates allocated both his profit and
attention to philanthropy. Evidence of his innovation, industry and curiosity can be seen at an early age.
Gates' passion for technology began at the age of 8, when he built his first computer program. This program allowed the player to compete in a game

saved over one million lives with vaccines and better health care alone! In 2002, Bill and Melinda were named the most generous philanthropists in the
world.
Bill founded several schools based on hands–on knowledge and technology. He also has given many Ted talks on education and constantly strives to
make the public school system more effective and innovative. The Bill and Melinda Foundation has made large strides in education and offers billions

The relationships behind the data are so extreme that it is expected that humans could not pick up on them. None of this would be possible without the
advances of computer technology over the past few decades. And Bill Gates, with his advances in the personal computer industry, was a significant
contributor to scientific research.
Bill Gates not only brought the scientific revolution into existence, his software helped make information available to a more informed public. Staying
abreast with current events and news is essential to keeping updated with human affairs. News allows two people to come together in support or in
opposition of events, helping us Americans express our first amendment right of freedom of speech. To many it would seem plausible that such an
important matter needed to be accessed at any time; Bill Gates and Microsoft's software were driving factors in making this a reality. Having access to
the internet is vital for staying updated in our world's constantly changing news. Obtaining all viewpoints is difficult when watching television or
listening to the radio, while with the internet, the quantity of viewpoints is abundant.

It may seem quite peculiar that the 2007 "Harvard Commencement Speech" was delivered by an individual who once dropped out of the university.
However, once it is established that this very individual is "Harvard's most successful dropout," as well as founder of microsoft computers; Bill Gates
certainly constitutes as qualified for the deliverance of this speech. Bill Gates "Harvard Commencement Speech" encourages the new graduates that
"humanity's greatest advances are not in its discoveries– but in how those discoveries are applied to reduce inequity." Gates asserts this claim by
following it with specific examples, such as delivering medicine to countries in poverty. In order to reduce the world's hardships, Gates poses the
question "how can we do the most good for the greatest number with the resources we have." He addresses the graduating class of Harvard using
emotional appeal to ignite compassion within the graduates, logic and reasoning to provide attainable solutions to reduce the world's inequities,
and strives to establish his personal credibility in order to support the claim that the purpose of discoveries is not for personal knowledge or self
improvement, but rather for the world's betterment. Gates strives to reach his audience in an effective way as well as establish his own credibility.
This is shown the moment he begins delivering his speech. Gates opens with various humorous remarks, specifically a few satirical phrases
regarding himself. Gates grabs the attention of his audience making the remark, "I'm just happy that the Crimson has called me 'Harvard's most
successful dropout." (Gates). As the speech becomes more serious, Gates steers away from humor and replaces it with more of an anecdotal
approach. Gates describes going to Davos saying that the global health panel was "so boring I couldn't bear it. What made that experience especially
striking was that I had just come from an event where we were introducing version 13 of some piece of software," (Gates). This anecdote shows Gates'
honesty and common human quality of impatience, and then proves his credibility by reestablishing his success in the field of technology by bringing
up the event he attended prior. This

Microsoft's Bill Gates, though a transactional leader, he is by far a charismatic leader. He really fits the mold of a computer "geek". He motivates
his employees because his personality fits theirs. Thus, as a champion in the computer industry, he is the champion of the computer geeks. The more

Good vision, good workers and a good history of success will keep Bill Gates and Microsoft in the limelight for years to come.

Furthermore, computer geeks, being the proud tradesman that they are, enjoy Gates' ability to celebrate their success in the business by treating them

of stuff. They are good and do not feel like they have to apologize for it. The royal treatment at the Kingdome just underscores that fact. Not to
mention that Bill Gates also owns a $35 million home and drives a Porsche. This flamboyant aspect of his personality, along with his casual
appearance, makes him "right–on" with the "computer jocks"
Bill Gates definitely uses two situational contingency approaches in his leadership (participate and delegate) and these approaches compliment his
chosen path for achieving goals (participate and achievement oriented). Firstly, he knows how to judge which leadership skill is necessary and when.
When it comes to product lines and programming, he takes a hands off approach, he delegates. He picks the best graduates, out of the best universities
and gives them lots of responsibility. This opens up the priceless entrepreneur spirit within every employee and makes it Microsoft's own.
However, when it comes to meetings, he will not just set at the back of the room and play the role of the boss. He jumps into the details of the meeting –

Middle class Americans could now purchase a personal computer that would not put a set back in their bank account. As soon as personal computers
started hitting the mainstream market, the demand for improvement began. People wanted their machines to boot up faster, have larger memory, have
improved programming, and be easier to use. Luckily Gates already knew the people would have these needs, so development was already underway.
Once the ball started rolling, Gates realized that the technologies used in his computers, specifically the microprocessor, could be used in other items
than a computer. For example, elevator controls, traffic lights, automobiles, heating and air conditioning systems, stereos, televisions, etc had now
become more technologically advanced, saving manufacturers a great deal of money. As one can see, Bill Gates technologies were slowly evolving
everything in our daily lives that at first we may not have realized. Gates allowed many things to occur more efficiently with less space and time
required. This is important because the better the pace Americans run their lives, the better the whole American system runs.
Like the television changing vacuum bulb technology to liquid crystal display technology, Bill Gates knew that his company would not hold up if he
did not constantly continue for improvement. As personal computers began to improve on technology, so did the users' knowledge. People were

Gates had these ideas of unlimited expansion and always creating new things. Bill gates vision regarding the computing world were built around

more cost effective for home users.
First computers ran on Dos. Bill had intentions on creating MS–Dos. He figured one day that MS–Dos would replace Dos. Also Microsoft created
Excel, Microsoft Word, Access, ect. These programs are used by at least 50% of the PC's in the world.
As I said earlier Bill Gates left college to start in his computer future with Microsoft. He has showed his devotion and had work to them for 25 years
(1975–xxxx) He now is Chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft Corporation, the leading provider for personal computers. So by sticking
with the company he is now worth nearly $6.1 billion dollars.
He is also very hard working with his job. With all the money and yachts and things he doesn't have much time to use them. He now has a wife,

have much time for himself. He spends most of his time in meetings because he still has to at the head of the class.

Reflective Essay About Bill Gates
"Trey, what do want to be when you grow up?" my grandmother asked. I shouted loudly with a big grin, "Bill Gates". Since I was in the first
grade, he was my role model. When I heard his name, I automatically saw dollar signs because I knew he was the richest man in the world. I looked
up to him because he was ambitious, competitive, and intelligent. These qualities were instilled in me at a young age. I believed with these qualities, I
would be unstoppable with whatever I decided to do. My goal was to be successful just like Bill Gates. Although I decided to give college a try, Bill
Gates showed me that you can do whatever you want if you stay focused. I learned from his experience that college is not for everyone, you can be
successful without attending college. However, you should have a strong backup plan.I always admired felt like Bill Gates for not allowing anything
to discourage him from being successful. We both were go–getters, achievers, and hard workers. I could learn about him every day. He motivated me
that much. My fourth grade teacher asked one day, "What is a goal that you would like to achieve?" I uttered proudly, "To become as rich as Bill
Gates." She giggled and said, "Boy, that's going to be a hard goal to achieve." I quickly responded, "Great minds think alike, small minds rarely differ."
She was so blown away by my remark, she just froze. The class stared, wondering was she all right. She suddenly said, "Well, Good, Trey!" and moved

Helen And L. S. Wong Memorial Scholarship

  • 1. Helen And L. S. Wong Memorial Scholarship Picture this, a nice big house in downtown Chicago, driving a nice car to your dream job everyday. Well lets just hope that will be me in the future. Once said by the great Muhammad Ali "If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, then I can achieve." Well that is my whole mindset for achieving my goals. I would like to achieve to get a 4 year scholarship to college that I would really like attend. There are many organizations that can help me achieve this goal. For example, the Helen and L.S. Wong Memorial Scholarship, The Bill Gates Scholarship, Student Loan Hero, and more. Student Loan Hero is an organization that helps students loan borrowers manage their debt and provide financial advice, including a scholarship. You may think you won't get a scholarship just because of your grades but that doesn't even matter. So many scholarships don't take...show more content... I think when I get to college it will be very challenging for me to keep my grades up while still wanting to go to parties or stuff like that. I would have to make a schedule so I could keep track of time. A good idea while I am working is I could work with a study group of friends to help make it less stressful for me to do my work. It is always good to have fun while studying. Right now as a freshman in high school I am practicing that goal. I have practice almost everyday and still work to do for my classes. I am sure that it is not going to get easier. Although I do get tired when I come home from practice, I still do my work. Sometimes I do my homework in class so I would have less to do at home. Mrs. Martinez tells us to make a schedule in our planners and write down our homework assignments so it could help with keeping track of our work in classes. All so have a binder and keep our stuff organize so we won't stress on finding work. It really helps. I just hope to have a very educational and fun time in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay On Bill Gates Take a moment to describe Mr. Bill Gates. When last did you see him in a motion picture or a still picture? What readily comes to your mind as you attempt to describe him? You very likely would say Microsoft's Bill Gate. Or you could also say an influential Bill Gate. Almost everybody will describe him as a billionaire, as innovative, and as a success. If he could be selling the software before it was written, it then tells a lot about him. Bill Gates was not the first person to have the vision to stage a complete revolution of the computer industry. He was by no means the first person to attempt to change the whole world by means of his inventions. Countless others have tried it but they abandoned their dreams along the way due to several reasons. But Bill Gates tried it and made it. He changed the way the computer was being used by means of the company he co–founded with Paul Allen, Microsoft Corporation. What makes the difference? It was his mindset. Principally he has the mindset of an entrepreneur. He was once quoted to have said that: "A little blindness is necessary when you undertake risk." An entrepreneur doesn't focus on fears of the unknown when he's starting a noble investment. Let's consider the attitudes that collectively form Bill Gates mindset so that you could borrow a leaf from that one too. 1.Competitiveness Ask Paul Allen, the friend that Bill Gates met in the high school, he would tell you that Bill has an attitude of competition. He is the youngest self made billionaire, and perhaps the best businessman in the world. Gates also worked as a Congressional Page and at a programming company called 'TRW'. After all his minor jobs, Gates and Allen founded Microsoft in 1975, the largest computer based company in the world. Gates is the Chief Executive officer and Paul Allen is VP. They are both very wealthy due to this business. Microsoft's wealth and power just grew and grew. Microsoft became so rich that could buy out an entire years production of his 99 nearest competitors, burn it, and still be worth more than Hugh Hefner and Michael Jordan. Microsoft's $25 billion market value tops that of Ford, General Motors, 3M, Boeing, General Mills, or Anheuser–Busch. With size comes power. Microsoft dominates the PC market with its MS–DOS operating system, the basic software that lets the computer understand your commands and carry them out. MS–DOS runs on 90 percent of the worlds IBM computers. Microsoft has extended from MS–DOS to Windows, which is probably the most important operating system Microsoft has released. Windows '95 is a graphics interface environment that runs on top of MS–DOS and will, according to Gates, replace DOS in future versions. Microsoft also supplies about 50 percent of the world's software applications: programs such as Excel (spreadsheets), Microsoft Word (word processing) and Access (data bases). When I think about this person I have always thought about the power of kindness and generosity that the human mind can have. This is the reason why this person and his wife are one my favorite and greatest leaders of this century. This individual has not only changed the world by ben affectionate for mankind, especially as shown in his devotion of work or wealth to people around the world but has also been a great innovator and leader in the world of technology. Much to his parent's disappointment, he dropped out of Harvard in two years in 1975 to pursue his business Microsoft with his new found partner Paul Allen ("Bill Gates", 2017). When Gates was at Lakeside he met Paul Allen, who then was two years his seniors. They became friend very fast, sharing their love computers, even though they had different personalities. Allen was a reserved individual, while Bill was feisty and sometime combative. I believe that this where qualities that aided him to weather through various storms to come. One quality seen in most leaders is tenacity, which at time can be seems stubbornness but is the one quality that makes these individuals resilient and ground fastened when it some to their goals. • 11. It may seem quite peculiar that the 2007 "Harvard Commencement Speech" was delivered by an individual who once dropped out of the university. However, once it is established that this very individual is "Harvard's most successful dropout," as well as founder of microsoft computers; Bill Gates certainly constitutes as qualified for the deliverance of this speech. Bill Gates "Harvard Commencement Speech" encourages the new graduates that "humanity's greatest advances are not in its discoveries– but in how those discoveries are applied to reduce inequity." Gates asserts this claim by following it with specific examples, such as delivering medicine to countries in poverty. In order to reduce the world's hardships, Gates poses the question "how can we do the most good for the greatest number with the resources we have." He addresses the graduating class of Harvard using emotional appeal to ignite compassion within the graduates, logic and reasoning to provide attainable solutions to reduce the world's inequities, and strives to establish his personal credibility in order to support the claim that the purpose of discoveries is not for personal knowledge or self improvement, but rather for the world's betterment. Gates strives to reach his audience in an effective way as well as establish his own credibility. This is shown the moment he begins delivering his speech. Gates opens with various humorous remarks, specifically a few satirical phrases regarding himself. Gates grabs the attention of his audience making the remark, "I'm just happy that the Crimson has called me 'Harvard's most successful dropout." (Gates). As the speech becomes more serious, Gates steers away from humor and replaces it with more of an anecdotal approach. Gates describes going to Davos saying that the global health panel was "so boring I couldn't bear it. What made that experience especially striking was that I had just come from an event where we were introducing version 13 of some piece of software," (Gates). This anecdote shows Gates' honesty and common human quality of impatience, and then proves his credibility by reestablishing his success in the field of technology by bringing up the event he attended prior. The royal treatment at the Kingdome just underscores that fact. Not to mention that Bill Gates also owns a $35 million home and drives a Porsche. This flamboyant aspect of his personality, along with his casual appearance, makes him "right–on" with the "computer jocks" Bill Gates definitely uses two situational contingency approaches in his leadership (participate and delegate) and these approaches compliment his chosen path for achieving goals (participate and achievement oriented). Firstly, he knows how to judge which leadership skill is necessary and when. When it comes to product lines and programming, he takes a hands off approach, he delegates. He picks the best graduates, out of the best universities and gives them lots of responsibility. This opens up the priceless entrepreneur spirit within every employee and makes it Microsoft's own. However, when it comes to meetings, he will not just set at the back of the room and play the role of the boss. He jumps into the details of the meeting – Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Reflective Essay About Bill Gates "Trey, what do want to be when you grow up?" my grandmother asked. I shouted loudly with a big grin, "Bill Gates". Since I was in the first grade, he was my role model. When I heard his name, I automatically saw dollar signs because I knew he was the richest man in the world. I looked up to him because he was ambitious, competitive, and intelligent. These qualities were instilled in me at a young age. I believed with these qualities, I would be unstoppable with whatever I decided to do. My goal was to be successful just like Bill Gates. Although I decided to give college a try, Bill Gates showed me that you can do whatever you want if you stay focused. I learned from his experience that college is not for everyone, you can be successful without attending college. However, you should have a strong backup plan.I always admired felt like Bill Gates for not allowing anything to discourage him from being successful. We both were go–getters, achievers, and hard workers. I could learn about him every day. He motivated me that much. My fourth grade teacher asked one day, "What is a goal that you would like to achieve?" I uttered proudly, "To become as rich as Bill Gates." She giggled and said, "Boy, that's going to be a hard goal to achieve." I quickly responded, "Great minds think alike, small minds rarely differ." She was so blown away by my remark, she just froze. The class stared, wondering was she all right. She suddenly said, "Well, Good, Trey!" and moved on to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
