Survival Of The College Life
Survival of the College Life
College: it's an interesting subject. Many have the option to either attend school for
another four years or not go to school at all. College is very different than high school because
teachers normally do not care if the students' are late, or if they leave early. There are also fewer
assignments, and grades are mainly based upon tests. Whether it is at a junior college or
university, it is primarily up to the student to take responsibility of his or her schedule.
Oftentimes when students go away to college, they struggle because they do not have their
parents to tell them when to wake up, when to study, or when to go to sleep. There is an entirely
new independence that the student experiences. Because of the many struggles and new obstacles
that college freshman go through, many do not return back the following years. They have a very
difficult time surviving the first year, and often do not think they will be able to survive the next
three, which is why, in order to survive college, it is very important to manage time wisely, and
stay determined and focused.
Since this year happens to be my first year of college it has definitely taken some getting
use to. I have had to learn how to manage my time and how to stay on top of my classes.
Personally, I have always been horrible at managing my time even when I had a bell to tell me
when to go to my next class. Because of this, college has been a little harder of

My College Experience
Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best
experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had
heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I
experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges
and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of...show more

I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the teacher would constantly remind the students
when certain assignments were due, but this was not the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in
an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily
let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the
confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult
even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These
factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of
campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of
taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy
while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. I believe this experience was the reason for my

Essay about College Life
College Life
Dear Freshman Friend:
Hello and welcome to college! You will spend the next four years of your life studying, sleeping, eating, exercising, making friends, making enemies,
falling in love, being heart broken, plagiarizing, and suffering in this ancient institution called university. You probably learned from brochures,
applications, and other similar college advertisements the number of volumes the library owns, the name of your future college professors, and even
how many hectares the university covers. But nobody has ever talk to you about this: the reality of college students. These are secrets behind the
walls, the subject that many admission officers had tried for decades to keep it as a secret until this...show more content...
Here is some advice that can make the adjustment process easier:
В·Roommates––you can be sharing your room with a psycho, compulsive maniac, nerd, punk, or Goth, it can be very scary and frustrating at the
same time. My advice is to set up a camcorder to follow all his actions, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for about a month to decide whether or not he
/she is "normal". If your roommate passes the test then you will be all right. If not request a room change claiming that you suffer twentythreephobic,
or any other phobia that beginnings with your room number.
В·Food Cafeteria––you will hate it. Especially when the ham sandwich you were served for lunch look suspiciously like the honey baked ham you
were served at dinner the night before. You will end up eating cereal, bagels, and soda whenever there is "recycled" food. If you plan to buy pizza,
ice cream, or any junk food for late night snacks, keep it in your own fridge otherwise it will be gone within two minutes. Coffee and Coke will
disappear faster during midterms and finals.
В·R.A and RD––Resident Assistant and Resident Director's main job is to "safeguard hall resident's concerns and needs". But they can be humans as
well. If you hate yours and want to driving him crazy keep nagging him/her about: how cold/hot your room is, the color of your room's roof, the
cafeteria food, your homesickness,

My Life In College
Life is a winding road that goes through mountains and over water, but also through mud, ice, and snow. What I mean by that is that life is something
very short, filled with beautiful moments as well as dark and disturbing ones (well, if we are being technical, life is the longest thing any of us will
experience). One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is college. College for some people can be this once–in–a
lifetime experience that creates friendship, memories, and everlasting knowledge. While for others it is absolute misery and stress. Regardless of all
of that, college is an incredibly tough decision that comes down to intelligence, money, and future careers. All of which are choices of which many
people fear to make in life. Bowling Green and Findlay University both seem to be very sound and reasonable choices; however, Bowling Green looks
to be the better choice due to costs and their business programs. As for Bowling Green, which is my first choice, was actually the second college I
had visited. It had a massive campus, well, at least compared to what I expected. It had hundreds of dorms and plenty of faculty to go around for the
students. Needless to say that during that first visit, I was blown away and beyond impressed with everything I saw. So after looking more into it,
there are definitely a lot of different reasons that I was even more inclined to go there. The first thing I looked at was the tuition, which was a surprising

day for orientation and from the next days, we will start our studies but I was actually pleased to see that there was a whole week for orientation. We

wasn't the same person i was in middle school, i used to settle for failure and think it was okay but now failure isn't an option anymore i choose to

Reflection Of My College Experience
This course like my entire first semester of university have provided me with both many challenges as well as taught me many lessons not only
for my university career, but for the rest of my life. As I reflect back on the semester, I recall telling myself at least once a week that I wanted to
drop out of school, followed by many breakdowns, crying fits and calling defeat. The past few months, haven't been at all easy for me, I have
thought many times I wasn't intelligent enough to be in university, I was disappointed with some of the grades I received and I was constantly
engulfed in a swarm of stress. Despite all these tough times, I have had many good one's as well, I have made new friends which are now integral to
my everyday life and I have enhanced my knowledge to a new degree. Some of the many lessons that I've already learned in my short university
experience include how to manage my time, the importance of meeting deadlines as well as the continuous struggle of balancing the various different
facets of life.
A range of different and useful topics have been discussed since the start of Pathways to lifelong learning, some of which I found to be of particular
help. The college expectations which we learned towards the beginning of the course was especially helpful to learning how to become a critical
thinker, something that was not very touched upon throughout my time in high school. I now use Bloom's Taxonomy when beginning to prepare for
an important paper or presentation. In addition to the first chapter, I had also found great help in the second chapter on the skills needed to succeed in
school. In the past, I used rehearsal as my main strategy to memorize for any upcoming tests or exams, however that often resulted in either retrieval
failure or ineffective encoding. I now use chunking and elaboration as my main strategies to studying as I find it most effective when studying and
retrieving information, especially when I am needing to memorize and learn a big amount of material.
Now that I have completed Pathways to lifelong learning, I have come to realize that the extreme stress I endured as mentioned earlier was due to my
poor time management skills as well as my poor stress management. I

My Life In College Essay
College is a great opportunity that I am blessed to be going through today. I see it as an opportunity to grow as a person and set myself up for the
future I want. The success I have in the future will be greatly affected by how I do in college. One person I personally know that inspires me a lot
is my father. My father has always been very involved in my life and had a very positive impact on who I have become. He came to the United
States when he was eleven years old with nothing. The English language was foreign to him and everything was being risked. The comfort of
being in a place you have been all your life and having friends and family surrounding you was gone. Yet his parents knew this was what was best
for him, so they brought him over. Things were not easy for my father and some of my family members either. They all lived crammed up in a one
bedroom apartment. However, they were not discouraged. My father fought and fought for what he wanted to achieve. I admire him greatly
because of how hard working he is. Everything he has accomplished today was thanks to his amazing work ethic. This is what really makes me
want to be like him. If I am able to strive and fight like he did, especially with my studies, I have faith I will achieve all I want. In my life, there are
things I value very highly. At the top of this list is family. You can have anything in this world, but without family, it is not worth it. Family are the
people who love you, motivate you, comfort

the struggle I have. Soon, I fell in love with another amazing and powerful tool. This amazing tool is writing short stories along with my poetry. I
was learning how to turn my voiceless drawings into a strong and outspoken being that i call my real words. At this point, I was doing well at
crafts such as crocheting. I have always needed to work with my hands as I had grown up on a farm until I was 12.once we had left the farm, I needed
a new way to occupy my hands so I began my drawing. I instantly fell in love with it and i wouldn't have known what to do without it. My drawing and

How will college change my life
"How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money. College could
be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning.
It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth workload that requires more studying. College will change
my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world.
Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being treated as an adult by taking responsibility for one's own

As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic
future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally. The
future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An adult is one who has matured to know what is right and
what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College
students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient,
being able to do their work, without anyone's help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the best
of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree. College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between
the real world and school. I'm an adult and expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to me. I
have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College
will change my life in the way that I can develop life skills outside academics, to be fully

My Life In College
Years back when I first began college I spent about 2 years pointlessly wandering through classes I didn't want to attend to please my parents. To
me at the time there was no purpose for college in my life, because I had no idea what I was doing. I only felt like I was running in circles and
ruining my own reputation when it came to my teachers, grades, and GPA. I couldn't find a single reason why I needed to be in college, and I
eventually decided to take a break from college to figure myself out. Now that I have had a break and took time to find out what I want to do and
what I need to do, I can think of plenty of reason why I am in college. Although there is, in fact, many ways to get through life without college, I have
began my journey in college once again because I want to become a elementary school teacher, educationally stimulate my brain, and to be able to
afford a good life in the future. First off, it's my life's goal to become an elementary school teacher, because I love working with such bright little
minds. Many people might say there is a many teaching jobs that don't require a college degree, which is true. I could ignore receiving a diploma and
become a swim instructor, TA, or even a camp instructor, but those jobs just aren't the same as an elementary school teacher. Furthermore, I want to be
in charge of how my own classroom is ran, and I want to create fun educational crafts and teach my students in a fun way. Even more, I don't want to

Essay about My Life
My Life
I was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, and moved to California when I was very young. Before I moved to California my dad traveled back and forth for 2
or 3 yrs from California and back to Costa Rica. He spent most of his time working in the Fresno area, in the cities of Tulare, and Visalia. He says he
spent his time working in any available job including some farm labor jobs and went back to Costa Rica to spend time with us. After the second time
he left Costa Rica to come and work he did not go back. At that time, amnesty was given to immigrants in California, and he moved up north to the
Bay area to find a steady job. That is when he saved enough money for my mother, my two siblings, and I to join him in California.

I was in ESL programs until I entered junior high school. Learning the language, and trying to keep up with the class work was a challenge for me.
Having friends who spoke my language, and the English language as well was an advantage I had. Having that extra help and support really made my
school experience challenging, but exciting as well.
Remembering the support I received from those friends creates a need in me to do the same for other people. I don't only believe that the support that I
can give to migrant students as a Mini–Corps student will help them in succeeding in school, but I believe that an appreciation for school can be
gained as well, and hopefully bring insight for continuing their studies beyond high school. As I improved in my English I also grew an interest in
writing. I enjoyed my English classes, along with my math classes too. My interest grew and grew, and I joined summer girl programs. After
participating two year, I became a mentor to those new peers coming into the program. I worked with teachers in Science, and in Math classes. I also
participated in the volleyball activities, and group activities. This is when I realized I wanted to work with youth my whole life. My interest in
English, and my interest in being a role model to youth made me decide to become an English teacher, especially working with students whose first
language is not English.
Now, I am a college student. I first went to UC Santa Barbara, where I dealt with more

My Life As A College Student Essay
Over the course of the last semester, I grew tremendously, not just as a writer but as a student. I learned skills and tactics that will last me
throughout my life and will benefit me once I begin the next four years of my life as a college student. This early gateway into college writing
provided me with exposure to the expectations that I will face in the college classroom. This will come in handy in the English classroom, as well as
in every subject I will face over the course of the next four years, and beyond. Writing is a key skill that communicates ideas and information, and is
essential to being successful. Whether I go into the music industry or find myself in a completely unforeseen career, it is certain that I will use my
writing skills at some point. This class sharpened those skills and prepared me for the future in ways no high school english class could. This class
has challenged me to think more in depth than I ever have before. It forced me to use my writing as a means of expressing knowledge, ideas, and
facts in a clear organized manner. In order to accomplish the goals of each paper assigned, I found new ways to present the same information. For
example, in every essay I included the theme that governments should be more involved in the fight against cyber warfare. However, I presented this
idea in each paper in different forms. In the summary, I simply stated what an author of a certain article had to say about this idea. In the critique, I

Personal Experience: College Life
College was very much a paradox for me. College was the most challenging experiences in my life, and yet one of the best experiences I have ever
had. During my undergraduate years, I met new people, took exciting courses, and learned to live without the daily guidance of my parents. And
most of all, I was able to learn more about myself. After my first year, the pressure of living on campus, friends, and classes began to take a toll on
me. I began to fall apart. I worked two jobs to support myself, knowing that I could not ask my parents frequently for money due to their own
financial burdens at home. I had to constantly deal with the upheaval from my relationships with roommates, friends, and family. I began dealing
with anxiety, and my confidence level dropped considerably. My schoolwork began to suffer, and I began to withdraw from my friends and
family. There were times when I cried almost every day and felt as though I could not carry on. The hardest part of all of this was putting on a
façade for the people around me as though everything was perfectly okay. I still wanted people to see my as the happy, smiling person that was
always in a good mood. Seeing that my grades had plummeted and realizing that I was going through a depressed time in my life, made me take a
stand to make changes in my life. I knew I could not sit around dwelling in my despair while life passed me by. I am a firm believer in the phrase, "if

How College Has Changed My Life
Looking back over the last couple of years, I have noticed that my life has changed drastically. After I gave this change some thought, I came to the
conclusion that going to college at an earlier age has brought this change. I have noticed that I am more mature and aware of what goes on at school; I
spend more time working on my future career than I do anything else, and I am a better student academically.
Going to college and taking dual credit classes during the summers of my high school career have played a huge role in my life changing. The classes
gave me an experience I have never had before. The professor actually listened to every question and answered with a full explanation without
hesitation. I will never forget the time I asked how to find the degree of a corresponding angle. The older students could tell I was struggling by all
of the questions I asked in class. Without having to ask for help, they came to my rescue and taught me lessons a teacher never could. College
provided me a sense of maturity that cannot be received from a high school classroom. I decided fairly quickly that I wanted to become a trauma nurse
and eventually work in the emergency room. At that time, I also decided that I wanted...show more content...
The classes I have taken have taught me how I learn the best and how to study more effectively. Many students are verbal learners, meaning they
learn best by listening to material given to them. I, on the other hand, learn best by doing the activity myself. I never knew this fact about myself
until after a very brutal physcology class. Also, college is said to be all memorization. I now know from experience that to pass and receive the degree
being chased after, good study habits are a must. The very first test I took in college, I failed miserably. Being able to study in an effective way for an
individual is the main way to keep the grades

Believe it or not, I began my life in college. My mother moved me to Austin when I was just six months old. She was only nineteen, studying as a

age in college only added another obstacle of becoming a single mother while being a student. After years of dedication and hard work, she graduated
with a 4.0 GPA in nursing. Shortly after, she became what she aspired to be; a registerednurse, through the support of her family and drive to overcome
adversity. Watching my mother push through hardships has taught me to set even higher goals for myself. As I grew older, these family traits and

My College Life
College life is hard to adjust to no matter how many motivational speeches you get in life. I knew college wasn't going to be like high school, but
it's one thing to say and another to see. I closed one chapter in my life to open what seems to be a whole new book. Once I graduated high school, my
life was bombarded with change. Some of the change was pleasurable and the others were heartbreaking. College put emphasis on independents which
is something I battle with.
Before starting LaGuardia, I was already petrified. All of my friends had already started college and were already taking exams. It felt wrong that I
hadn't started already. Having to take 2 hours of my day to make a schedule was already exhausting. I had no idea what the class SYF 101 was
which scared me. I asked people if they knew what it might be but not one person did. Once I started the class I found out it was an intro to psychology.
I was relieved Nevertheless, I was excited to start PSY 101. I always love learning why people do the things they do. I remember I check rate my
professor and nothing popped up for my professor. It made me nervous for my first class which happened to be on a Saturday. All in all my
professor turned out to be great and psychology ended up being my favorite class. There was one time in class that I'll never forget. My professor
asked us to write a letter to a child in our lives for their 18 birthday. We had to tell them what we wish for them and how they changed us. I remember

My Life Experience And My Outlook Essay
At this point in my life, as a person retiring out of an industry, and going back to school for a second career, my outlook is certainly different than it
was when I was in college 23 years ago. I think that is primarily from life experiences, and having particular life experiences along my journey. I loved
the philosophy class as it seemed to help me answer some of those questions that were lingering in the back of my head for years. And if it did not
answer the questions, it certainly gave me the tools to dig deeper into my own thoughts, and ideas, and challenge them. I start off with what philosophy
called metaphysics, the study of existence. Growing up in a fundamental religion I always had questions about our beginning, or arche', as a human
race. I was taught the preverbal Adam and Eve idea, but that brought about so many other questions. Who was before them? What if there was an
alternative? Can we trust the historical data in the Bible? Where is God? Why is God "above us"? How do we know? All of these questions I had put
away, thinking I must have been the only one that must think this way. Don't misunderstand me there are elements of my religion that I cherish and it
will provide me the ethical structure for my being. I understand that if society understood in the arche' of our religion, we would find that we have
more similarities than differences. During the time we studied Plato, and his ideal forms, I saw how not only my

My Journey to College Essay
My Journey to College
I first came to the university during spring break of my junior year of high school. At the time I was just visiting the three main universities in
Arizona so that I would be able to make an educated decision as to where I wanted to get my college education. There were many events showing me
the way to this university and little did I know that these events would come upon me and that they would show me the doors to the place where I was
truly meant to be.
I had a small thought in mind of becoming a chef or something else in the hospitality field. My mom had heard about NAU's hospitality college and
informed me that it was within the top ten. During our visit to NAU we met with and...show more content...
I then had the dilemma of deciding which dorm I wanted to apply for. This was a large decision for me seeing as how I had never moved in my life
and how this would be my new home for the next year. I chose Rielly Hall which was the best I could do by looking at pictures online.
After being accepted my mom and I made another visit up to NAU so that I could see the university with different eyes, eyes that new this was
where the journey of my life was heading next. We arrived at NAU and I was very excited to be on campus once again but with a completely new
perspective. I met with an HRM advisor and talked a little more about the program. At that time I learned all about their study abroad program. From
that information I decide that I wanted not to just be a hotel and restaurant major but that I wanted to be a full International Hospitality major. This was
going to be a little more work than my original plan but I would get to study abroad and experience so much culture.
After my meeting with the HRM advisor we headed over to the dorms to check them out. I ended up walking past Sechrist Hall first and was
approached by an NAU student who seemed to be about a Junior and was an RA on one of the floors. As he approached me he said "Would you like

Survival Of The College Life

  • 1. Survival Of The College Life Survival of the College Life College: it's an interesting subject. Many have the option to either attend school for another four years or not go to school at all. College is very different than high school because teachers normally do not care if the students' are late, or if they leave early. There are also fewer assignments, and grades are mainly based upon tests. Whether it is at a junior college or university, it is primarily up to the student to take responsibility of his or her schedule. Oftentimes when students go away to college, they struggle because they do not have their parents to tell them when to wake up, when to study, or when to go to sleep. There is an entirely new independence that the student experiences. Because of the many struggles and new obstacles that college freshman go through, many do not return back the following years. They have a very difficult time surviving the first year, and often do not think they will be able to survive the next three, which is why, in order to survive college, it is very important to manage time wisely, and stay determined and focused.
  • 2. Since this year happens to be my first year of college it has definitely taken some getting use to. I have had to learn how to manage my time and how to stay on top of my classes. Personally, I have always been horrible at managing my time even when I had a bell to tell me when to go to my next class. Because of this, college has been a little harder of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My College Experience Essay examples My College Experience Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of...show more content... I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the teacher would constantly remind the students when certain assignments were due, but this was not the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. I believe this experience was the reason for my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay about College Life College Life Dear Freshman Friend: Hello and welcome to college! You will spend the next four years of your life studying, sleeping, eating, exercising, making friends, making enemies, falling in love, being heart broken, plagiarizing, and suffering in this ancient institution called university. You probably learned from brochures, applications, and other similar college advertisements the number of volumes the library owns, the name of your future college professors, and even how many hectares the university covers. But nobody has ever talk to you about this: the reality of college students. These are secrets behind the walls, the subject that many admission officers had tried for decades to keep it as a secret until this...show more content... Here is some advice that can make the adjustment process easier: В·Roommates––you can be sharing your room with a psycho, compulsive maniac, nerd, punk, or Goth, it can be very scary and frustrating at the same time. My advice is to set up a camcorder to follow all his actions, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for about a month to decide whether or not he /she is "normal". If your roommate passes the test then you will be all right. If not request a room change claiming that you suffer twentythreephobic, or any other phobia that beginnings with your room number. В·Food Cafeteria––you will hate it. Especially when the ham sandwich you were served for lunch look suspiciously like the honey baked ham you were served at dinner the night before. You will end up eating cereal, bagels, and soda whenever there is "recycled" food. If you plan to buy pizza, ice cream, or any junk food for late night snacks, keep it in your own fridge otherwise it will be gone within two minutes. Coffee and Coke will disappear faster during midterms and finals. В·R.A and RD––Resident Assistant and Resident Director's main job is to "safeguard hall resident's concerns and needs". But they can be humans as well. If you hate yours and want to driving him crazy keep nagging him/her about: how cold/hot your room is, the color of your room's roof, the cafeteria food, your homesickness, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Life In College Life is a winding road that goes through mountains and over water, but also through mud, ice, and snow. What I mean by that is that life is something very short, filled with beautiful moments as well as dark and disturbing ones (well, if we are being technical, life is the longest thing any of us will experience). One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is college. College for some people can be this once–in–a lifetime experience that creates friendship, memories, and everlasting knowledge. While for others it is absolute misery and stress. Regardless of all of that, college is an incredibly tough decision that comes down to intelligence, money, and future careers. All of which are choices of which many people fear to make in life. Bowling Green and Findlay University both seem to be very sound and reasonable choices; however, Bowling Green looks to be the better choice due to costs and their business programs. As for Bowling Green, which is my first choice, was actually the second college I had visited. It had a massive campus, well, at least compared to what I expected. It had hundreds of dorms and plenty of faculty to go around for the students. Needless to say that during that first visit, I was blown away and beyond impressed with everything I saw. So after looking more into it, there are definitely a lot of different reasons that I was even more inclined to go there. The first thing I looked at was the tuition, which was a surprising Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. My Life In College my life as a student and becoming a teen have been hard and difficult, well now days what teenagers life isn't hard and difficult right? i think other wise in a way i've learned how to deal with obstacles with school, family, and even relationships. i sometimes fail and tumble at times to where i think this is where i give up and can't do it anymore but i have support from family and friends. growing up in school was tough in a way were i wasn't the same person i was in middle school, i used to settle for failure and think it was okay but now failure isn't an option anymore i choose to think failure is just another bump in the road i can over come. growing up was hard with my mom being a single parent, i had to take on more to do at the house then just be a student for school and worry just about school, i had to adapt with only my mom being around and no father figure to help me out. as most people say from my family to my friends i'm a diligent person, i like everything to be a certain way or if it's not then everything goes wrong. me as a person being at home and in school are the same, the way i worry about my grades being good enough for my mom is the same way i worry about the house being clean enough for her as well. when things come down to my grades and school work i try my hardest to get things done right away but being a teenager come in the way, i choose to sometimes relax a little bit longer then i should instead of getting things done. i know how to keep up Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Reflection Of My College Experience This course like my entire first semester of university have provided me with both many challenges as well as taught me many lessons not only for my university career, but for the rest of my life. As I reflect back on the semester, I recall telling myself at least once a week that I wanted to drop out of school, followed by many breakdowns, crying fits and calling defeat. The past few months, haven't been at all easy for me, I have thought many times I wasn't intelligent enough to be in university, I was disappointed with some of the grades I received and I was constantly engulfed in a swarm of stress. Despite all these tough times, I have had many good one's as well, I have made new friends which are now integral to my everyday life and I have enhanced my knowledge to a new degree. Some of the many lessons that I've already learned in my short university experience include how to manage my time, the importance of meeting deadlines as well as the continuous struggle of balancing the various different facets of life. A range of different and useful topics have been discussed since the start of Pathways to lifelong learning, some of which I found to be of particular help. The college expectations which we learned towards the beginning of the course was especially helpful to learning how to become a critical thinker, something that was not very touched upon throughout my time in high school. I now use Bloom's Taxonomy when beginning to prepare for an important paper or presentation. In addition to the first chapter, I had also found great help in the second chapter on the skills needed to succeed in school. In the past, I used rehearsal as my main strategy to memorize for any upcoming tests or exams, however that often resulted in either retrieval failure or ineffective encoding. I now use chunking and elaboration as my main strategies to studying as I find it most effective when studying and retrieving information, especially when I am needing to memorize and learn a big amount of material. Now that I have completed Pathways to lifelong learning, I have come to realize that the extreme stress I endured as mentioned earlier was due to my poor time management skills as well as my poor stress management. • 9. My Life In College Essay College is a great opportunity that I am blessed to be going through today. I see it as an opportunity to grow as a person and set myself up for the future I want. The success I have in the future will be greatly affected by how I do in college. One person I personally know that inspires me a lot is my father. My father has always been very involved in my life and had a very positive impact on who I have become. He came to the United States when he was eleven years old with nothing. The English language was foreign to him and everything was being risked. The comfort of being in a place you have been all your life and having friends and family surrounding you was gone. Yet his parents knew this was what was best for him, so they brought him over. Things were not easy for my father and some of my family members either. They all lived crammed up in a one bedroom apartment. However, they were not discouraged. My father fought and fought for what he wanted to achieve. I admire him greatly because of how hard working he is. Everything he has accomplished today was thanks to his amazing work ethic. This is what really makes me want to be like him. If I am able to strive and fight like he did, especially with my studies, I have faith I will achieve all I want. In my life, there are things I value very highly. At the top of this list is family. You can have anything in this world, but without family, it is not worth it. Family are the people who love you, motivate you, comfort Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I began to listen more and also began to give advice for people who needed a listening ear and a bit of hope. As I continued to listen, I began to realize that many people have lived through the struggle I have. Soon, I fell in love with another amazing and powerful tool. This amazing tool is writing short stories along with my poetry. I was learning how to turn my voiceless drawings into a strong and outspoken being that i call my real words. At this point, I was doing well at crafts such as crocheting. I have always needed to work with my hands as I had grown up on a farm until I was 12.once we had left the farm, I needed a new way to occupy my hands so I began my drawing. I instantly fell in love with it and i wouldn't have known what to do without it. My drawing and writing have became my life and that is why i will continue to draw for the rest of my life or until my hands refuse to work. • 11. How will college change my life "How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money. College could be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning. It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth workload that requires more studying. College will change my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world. Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being treated as an adult by taking responsibility for one's own actions...show more content... As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally. The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone's help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree. College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between the real world and school. I'm an adult and expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to me. I have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. • 12. My Life In College Years back when I first began college I spent about 2 years pointlessly wandering through classes I didn't want to attend to please my parents. To me at the time there was no purpose for college in my life, because I had no idea what I was doing. I only felt like I was running in circles and ruining my own reputation when it came to my teachers, grades, and GPA. I couldn't find a single reason why I needed to be in college, and I eventually decided to take a break from college to figure myself out. Now that I have had a break and took time to find out what I want to do and what I need to do, I can think of plenty of reason why I am in college. Although there is, in fact, many ways to get through life without college, I have began my journey in college once again because I want to become a elementary school teacher, educationally stimulate my brain, and to be able to afford a good life in the future. First off, it's my life's goal to become an elementary school teacher, because I love working with such bright little minds. Many people might say there is a many teaching jobs that don't require a college degree, which is true. I could ignore receiving a diploma and become a swim instructor, TA, or even a camp instructor, but those jobs just aren't the same as an elementary school teacher. Furthermore, I want to be in charge of how my own classroom is ran, and I want to create fun educational crafts and teach my students in a fun way. Even more, I don't want to become a teacher Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Essay about My Life My Life I was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, and moved to California when I was very young. Before I moved to California my dad traveled back and forth for 2 or 3 yrs from California and back to Costa Rica. He spent most of his time working in the Fresno area, in the cities of Tulare, and Visalia. He says he spent his time working in any available job including some farm labor jobs and went back to Costa Rica to spend time with us. After the second time he left Costa Rica to come and work he did not go back. At that time, amnesty was given to immigrants in California, and he moved up north to the Bay area to find a steady job. That is when he saved enough money for my mother, my two siblings, and I to join him in California. My first...show more content... I was in ESL programs until I entered junior high school. Learning the language, and trying to keep up with the class work was a challenge for me. Having friends who spoke my language, and the English language as well was an advantage I had. Having that extra help and support really made my school experience challenging, but exciting as well. Remembering the support I received from those friends creates a need in me to do the same for other people. I don't only believe that the support that I can give to migrant students as a Mini–Corps student will help them in succeeding in school, but I believe that an appreciation for school can be gained as well, and hopefully bring insight for continuing their studies beyond high school. As I improved in my English I also grew an interest in writing. I enjoyed my English classes, along with my math classes too. My interest grew and grew, and I joined summer girl programs. After participating two year, I became a mentor to those new peers coming into the program. I worked with teachers in Science, and in Math classes. I also participated in the volleyball activities, and group activities. This is when I realized I wanted to work with youth my whole life. My interest in English, and my interest in being a role model to youth made me decide to become an English teacher, especially working with students whose first language is not English. • 14. My Life As A College Student Essay Over the course of the last semester, I grew tremendously, not just as a writer but as a student. I learned skills and tactics that will last me throughout my life and will benefit me once I begin the next four years of my life as a college student. This early gateway into college writing provided me with exposure to the expectations that I will face in the college classroom. This will come in handy in the English classroom, as well as in every subject I will face over the course of the next four years, and beyond. Writing is a key skill that communicates ideas and information, and is essential to being successful. Whether I go into the music industry or find myself in a completely unforeseen career, it is certain that I will use my writing skills at some point. This class sharpened those skills and prepared me for the future in ways no high school english class could. This class has challenged me to think more in depth than I ever have before. It forced me to use my writing as a means of expressing knowledge, ideas, and facts in a clear organized manner. In order to accomplish the goals of each paper assigned, I found new ways to present the same information. For example, in every essay I included the theme that governments should be more involved in the fight against cyber warfare. However, I presented this idea in each paper in different forms. In the summary, I simply stated what an author of a certain article had to say about this idea. In the critique, I discussed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Personal Experience: College Life College was very much a paradox for me. College was the most challenging experiences in my life, and yet one of the best experiences I have ever had. During my undergraduate years, I met new people, took exciting courses, and learned to live without the daily guidance of my parents. And most of all, I was able to learn more about myself. After my first year, the pressure of living on campus, friends, and classes began to take a toll on me. I began to fall apart. I worked two jobs to support myself, knowing that I could not ask my parents frequently for money due to their own financial burdens at home. I had to constantly deal with the upheaval from my relationships with roommates, friends, and family. I began dealing with anxiety, and my confidence level dropped considerably. My schoolwork began to suffer, and I began to withdraw from my friends and family. There were times when I cried almost every day and felt as though I could not carry on. The hardest part of all of this was putting on a faГ§ade for the people around me as though everything was perfectly okay. I still wanted people to see my as the happy, smiling person that was always in a good mood. Seeing that my grades had plummeted and realizing that I was going through a depressed time in my life, made me take a stand to make changes in my life. I knew I could not sit around dwelling in my despair while life passed me by. I am a firm believer in the phrase, "if you see something in your life you do not like, then Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. How College Has Changed My Life Looking back over the last couple of years, I have noticed that my life has changed drastically. After I gave this change some thought, I came to the conclusion that going to college at an earlier age has brought this change. I have noticed that I am more mature and aware of what goes on at school; I spend more time working on my future career than I do anything else, and I am a better student academically. Going to college and taking dual credit classes during the summers of my high school career have played a huge role in my life changing. The classes gave me an experience I have never had before. The professor actually listened to every question and answered with a full explanation without hesitation. I will never forget the time I asked how to find the degree of a corresponding angle. The older students could tell I was struggling by all of the questions I asked in class. Without having to ask for help, they came to my rescue and taught me lessons a teacher never could. College provided me a sense of maturity that cannot be received from a high school classroom. I decided fairly quickly that I wanted to become a trauma nurse and eventually work in the emergency room. At that time, I also decided that I wanted...show more content... The classes I have taken have taught me how I learn the best and how to study more effectively. Many students are verbal learners, meaning they learn best by listening to material given to them. I, on the other hand, learn best by doing the activity myself. I never knew this fact about myself until after a very brutal physcology class. Also, college is said to be all memorization. I now know from experience that to pass and receive the degree being chased after, good study habits are a must. The very first test I took in college, I failed miserably. Being able to study in an effective way for an individual is the main way to keep the grades Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Personal Narrative: My Life In College Believe it or not, I began my life in college. My mother moved me to Austin when I was just six months old. She was only nineteen, studying as a full time student at the University of Texas. She was also raised in a small town with a strong family. However, conceiving a child at such a young age in college only added another obstacle of becoming a single mother while being a student. After years of dedication and hard work, she graduated with a 4.0 GPA in nursing. Shortly after, she became what she aspired to be; a registerednurse, through the support of her family and drive to overcome adversity. Watching my mother push through hardships has taught me to set even higher goals for myself. As I grew older, these family traits and values became Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. My College Life College life is hard to adjust to no matter how many motivational speeches you get in life. I knew college wasn't going to be like high school, but it's one thing to say and another to see. I closed one chapter in my life to open what seems to be a whole new book. Once I graduated high school, my life was bombarded with change. Some of the change was pleasurable and the others were heartbreaking. College put emphasis on independents which is something I battle with. Before starting LaGuardia, I was already petrified. All of my friends had already started college and were already taking exams. It felt wrong that I hadn't started already. Having to take 2 hours of my day to make a schedule was already exhausting. I had no idea what the class SYF 101 was which scared me. I asked people if they knew what it might be but not one person did. Once I started the class I found out it was an intro to psychology. I was relieved Nevertheless, I was excited to start PSY 101. I always love learning why people do the things they do. I remember I check rate my professor and nothing popped up for my professor. It made me nervous for my first class which happened to be on a Saturday. All in all my professor turned out to be great and psychology ended up being my favorite class. There was one time in class that I'll never forget. My professor asked us to write a letter to a child in our lives for their 18 birthday. We had to tell them what we wish for them and how they changed us. I remember Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My Life Experience And My Outlook Essay At this point in my life, as a person retiring out of an industry, and going back to school for a second career, my outlook is certainly different than it was when I was in college 23 years ago. I think that is primarily from life experiences, and having particular life experiences along my journey. I loved the philosophy class as it seemed to help me answer some of those questions that were lingering in the back of my head for years. And if it did not answer the questions, it certainly gave me the tools to dig deeper into my own thoughts, and ideas, and challenge them. I start off with what philosophy called metaphysics, the study of existence. Growing up in a fundamental religion I always had questions about our beginning, or arche', as a human race. I was taught the preverbal Adam and Eve idea, but that brought about so many other questions. Who was before them? What if there was an alternative? Can we trust the historical data in the Bible? Where is God? Why is God "above us"? How do we know? All of these questions I had put away, thinking I must have been the only one that must think this way. Don't misunderstand me there are elements of my religion that I cherish and it will provide me the ethical structure for my being. I understand that if society understood in the arche' of our religion, we would find that we have more similarities than differences. During the time we studied Plato, and his ideal forms, I saw how not only my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. My Journey to College Essay My Journey to College I first came to the university during spring break of my junior year of high school. At the time I was just visiting the three main universities in Arizona so that I would be able to make an educated decision as to where I wanted to get my college education. There were many events showing me the way to this university and little did I know that these events would come upon me and that they would show me the doors to the place where I was truly meant to be. I had a small thought in mind of becoming a chef or something else in the hospitality field. My mom had heard about NAU's hospitality college and informed me that it was within the top ten. During our visit to NAU we met with and...show more content... I then had the dilemma of deciding which dorm I wanted to apply for. This was a large decision for me seeing as how I had never moved in my life and how this would be my new home for the next year. I chose Rielly Hall which was the best I could do by looking at pictures online. After being accepted my mom and I made another visit up to NAU so that I could see the university with different eyes, eyes that new this was where the journey of my life was heading next. We arrived at NAU and I was very excited to be on campus once again but with a completely new perspective. I met with an HRM advisor and talked a little more about the program. At that time I learned all about their study abroad program. From that information I decide that I wanted not to just be a hotel and restaurant major but that I wanted to be a full International Hospitality major. This was going to be a little more work than my original plan but I would get to study abroad and experience so much culture. After my meeting with the HRM advisor we headed over to the dorms to check them out. I ended up walking past Sechrist Hall first and was approached by an NAU student who seemed to be about a Junior and was an RA on one of the floors. As he approached me he said "Would you like me to show you around the building". Even Get more content on HelpWriting.net
