essay i will be discussing the characters and what colors they resemble. Jay Gatsby is the main character in the book, he was around 30 years old
and lived in the West Egg.When we first meet Jay he's very poor and "low class". He falls in love with a girl named Daisy. He is completely
astonished by her and her wealth.Daisy being filthy rich wants nothing to do with a poor man. When he comes back, Daisy becomes interested into
Jay because when he came back he became rich by bootlegging. Daisy–being married– begins to have an affair with Gatsby.In the beginning of the
book he was green and yellow because he was reaching for the green light and because of his hope, and then he turned black for taking the blame
for killing Myrtle.' Nick is the narrator and neighbor of Gatsby, he is also around 30, lives in the West egg, and was in a relationship with Jordan
Baker. He serves as a confidant for those with troubling secrets. He was Daisy's cousin and Tom's friend.I think Nick goes with the color orange
for his loyalty and grey for his darkerside. Daisy Buchanan is from the East egg. Dais and her husband Tom are people of old money she has a baby
daughter Pamela. Daisy and Tom's relationship is bad. He is abusive and has an affair . Also, Daisy and her daughter Pamela's relationship is not good,
because Pamela is always with the nanny.

Diction: In the Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald utilizes a heavily elegant and sometimes superfluous diction which reflects the high class society that the reader
is introduced to within the novel. The speaker Nick Carraway talks directly to the reader. The diction is extensively formal throughout the novel using
high blown language the borders on being bombastic. An example of this formal language is seen when Nick states,"The truth was that Jay Gatsby, of
West Egg, Long Island, sprang from his Platonic conception of himself. He was a son of GodВ—a phrase which, if it means anything, means just

The tone is hopeful and dignified. Much detail is used and even some ironic detail such as Gatsby being "gorgeous." Even though one would not
normally describe a man with such a word it fits perfectly in this sentence. The language is formal and it reveals Nicks positive view on life and on
Gatsby. The syntax in this passage is made up of strung–together sentences and clauses. All of the sentences within this passage are complex or
compound–complex. These long and airy sentences emphasize the tone of upper–class people speaking as well as the emphasis on a dream. The
sentences are extensively poetic and carefully thought out giving it a nonchalant and superior tone.
Passage 2: "I didn't call to him, for he gave a sudden intimation that he was content to be alone – he stretched out his arms towards the dark water in a
curious way, and, far as I was from him, I could have sworn he was trembling. Involuntarily I glanced seaward – and distinguished nothing except a

years apart was similar to the feelings evoked by the lyrics of "Hey Delilah", a song by the band Plain White T's. An important factor that affected
Gatsby and Daisy's relationship was the distance that separated them, and the same could be said about the couple in the song. The muse, Delilah,
was in New York City while the singer was "a thousand miles away." The song quickly established the singer's infatuation for her through lines
praising her beauty such as "Times Square can't shine as bright as [her]." In the bridge of the song, the lyrics mentioned ways of erasing the
distance between them, with one of the lines remarking that the singer would "walk to [her] if [he] had no other way." This just shows how much
he wants to see her again. Even more, the chorus repeated the line "Oh it's what you do to me" to represent the effect that the girl had on the singer
even though she's so far away, and that he was constantly thinking about her. This sort of longing across a distance was similar to how Gatsby felt

Daisy's and Gatsby's reunion starts in the rain which has connotations to the doubtfulness of Gatsby for this not to go as planned and for her not have

doesn't sound the most credible or convincing at times. A notable example of this trait is when Nick and Gatsby are driving to the Plaza Hotel and
they are talking and Nick asked, "What part of the Middle West? Gatsby replied "San Francisco" Nick thought "His voice was solemn, as if the
sudden memory still haunted him, for a moment I thought he was pulling my leg"(65). This quotes shows that Gatsby may not be the most
reliable person, and he may not be from the midwest or San Francisco because they are totally different places. This quote also exposes Nicks
suspicion to what he is telling the truth about and what he is lying about. Another Example of Gatsby not being the most reliable or trustworthy is
when Nick is with Gatsby and Gatsby says, "'I was brought up in American and educated at Oxford, because my ancestors have been educated there
for many years'" (65). Nick thinks "he hurried the phrase 'educated at Oxford.' Or swallowed it, or choked on it, as it if had bothered him before,
and with his doubt, his statement fell to pieces" (65). This quote is a very important piece of evidence into Gatsby's past, Because if he lied about
going to Oxford, he could have lied about anything else.

Critical Analysis: The Great Gatsby Film
The classic American novel, The Great Gatsby, presents a major theme of passing time. Losing Daisy meant losing Gatsby's entire world, which he
only kept alive through his hope of repeating the past. Daisy is a symbol of everything he values and therefore became the entity of his dream: his
dream of spending the rest of his life with Daisy, the woman he loves undeniably. But Gatsby doesn't realize his dream is unattainable because
unfortunately, he cannot go back in time or recreate the past. Gatsby is stuck in the past, longing for the relationship between him and Daisy, and can't

Their hands are so close, but never actually touch or come intact with each other because the two are metaphorically so far away from each other in
that their relationship only exists in the past, and not in the future. A few scenes later, Gatsby and Daisy are shown kissing through a pond with an
unstable reflection. The water is agitated and quivering endlessly as opposed to still and calm. The murky and unsteady water depicts a sense of
"oldness" in Daisy and Gatsby's relationship. Because the shot is a reflection, it's as if the moment is false or an imitation, as if they are "reflecting"
on a memory in the past. The framing of these scenes denote Gatsby's stark refusal to accept what he cannot control: the passage of time.
A prominent color in the movie and novel of The Great Gatsby is green. It is the color that represents Gatsby's hope. For example, the green light
across the bay that Gatsby associates Daisy's house with is a symbol of his destiny with her. Also, Gatsby gives Daisy a ring with a green jewel but
because he is her past and she is married now, she tells Gatsby to keep it. As the movie progresses and Daisy and Gatsby spend more and more time

His status of near bankruptcy has most likely been like that for a while. This resulted in his wife Myrtle, saving all the money she can to help with
his bankruptcy status. This quote shows the type of environment George lives in a how he gets excited to see a potential customer in his office.

Throughout the novel The Great Gatsby by Scott F. Fitzgerald Jay Gatsby is constantly fighting a one sided battle for Daisy Buchanan's love.
Gatsby shows great dedication to Daisy by doing anything and everything to please her and almost relive their past relationship. This includes,
throwing stunning/ massive parties in her honor, showering her in his newly found wealth, and offering her everything under the sun. It's almost
as if Gatsby main goal in life isn't to be successful (as it once was when he was a child) but to win over Daisy. Jay treated Daisy the way every girl
wants to be treated, but it just wasn't enough for her. The poem "Love song, with two goldfish" by Grace Chua shows some of the same affairs as
the book. Obsessed is an understatement when trying to describe Gatsby's feelings for Daisy. He wants to be around her all of the time. Gatsby in
