A short and crisp ppt on deforestation!!
It includes everything from causes of deforestation to the current status. From effects of deforestation to ways to reduce it. Really an amazing ppt on DEFORESTATION. An ode to the environment. PLEASE IMPLEMENT THE METHODS TO REDUCE DEFORESTATION IN YOUR REAL LIFE TOO, it is the NEED OF THE HOUR!!!

3. Causes of Deforestation
Illegal Logging - Wood-based industries like paper, match-sticks, furniture, etc. need a substantial amount of wood
supply. Therefore, trees are chopped for meeting the demand for supplies.
Urbanization and Overpopulation - To gain access to the forests, the construction of roads is undertaken for which
the trees are chopped to build roads. Overpopulation too directly affects forest covers, as with the expansion of cities,
more land is needed to establish housing and settlements.
Mining - Oil and coal mining requires a considerable amount of forest land.
Forest Fires -Forest fires which happens due to extreme warm summers and milder winters results in a massive loss
of forest covers in the various portions of the world.
Paper - Around the world, mills produce about 400 million tons of paper per year. This creates jobs but contributes
to deforestation.
4. Effects of Deforestation
Climate Change - Trees take in carbon dioxide and
release oxygen and water vapor in the air, they also
provide shade that keeps the soil moist. All these are
compromised with the lack of trees. It leads to the
imbalance in the atmospheric temperature, drier
climate, further making conditions for the ecology
difficult that leads to climate change.
Soil Erosion - When forests are wiped out, the land
becomes exposed, leaving it vulnerable to being
washed or blown away by elements like water, wind
etc.
Floods and Drought - Deforestation results in
decreased water holding capacity of soil. This reduces
the infiltration of water into the ground
which causes floods. ... Scarcity of trees disturbs the

6. Ø Wildlife Extinction & Habitat Loss - Due to the
massive felling down of trees, various animal
species are lost. They lose their habitat and forced
to move to a new location. Many of them are even
pushed to extinction.
Ø Decline in life quality of people and food insecurity -
People in millions all over the world depend
on forests for hunting, small-scale agriculture,
gathering, and medicine. Deforestation disrupts the
lives of millions of people. Currently, 52% of all
the land used for food production is moderately or
severely impacted by soil erosion. In the long term,
the lack of fertile soil can lead to low yields and food
insecurity.
7. Deforestation continue to take
place at alarming rate, which
contributes significantly to the
ongoing loss of
biodiversity. Between 2015 and
