Providing Environmental Best Practice For All Of Our Customers
COMPANY HISTORY
Samuel Brown - The Founder of the company in 1926, which involved coal haulage, until WWII
Herbert Brown – (After whom the company was named), resumed the business started by his father.
 1949 Herbert officially named the company H Brown.
 Horse and Cart was traditionally used to deliver clay, coke and coal to the pottery industry.
 The cart was then used to remove shraff and waste once a delivery was complete.
William H Brown: Director - Joined the business in 1954 and the company became H BROWN & SON.
 Expansion continued through acquisition of Wilkes Bros and our first two 10t tipper lorries were added.
 Growth continued and in 1960, waste disposal was added to our bulk coal and clay deliveries.
 Herbert Brown retired during the 1960's and his son, William H Brown took over as Managing Director.
 The company expanded by transporting coal to Cornwall and returning with clay for the pottery industry
 During the recession of 1980 the bulk tipper fleet was gradually wound down.
Roderick W Brown: Managing Director - In 1979, the son of William H Brown, joined the company.
 With the focus on waste disposal & recycling, William and Roderick purchased a metals processor.
 H Brown & Son added a licensed waste transfer facility to the site forming Singers Ltd (1989).
 William retired in the early 1990's and Roderick took control as Managing Director, with new ideas of
becoming the largest independent waste company in Staffordshire, this was achieved through growth and
acquisition.
Mitchel R Brown
 The future of the company is set to continue through Mitchel R Brown who joined the company in 2002.
Mitchel is presently working through all the roles at the company and, in time, will assume control.

LOCAL BUSINESS & COMMUNITY
As a local contractor ourselves we like to support local companies & Charities, below are just a
few of the high profile companies/charities that we work with to provide the level of support
that each require:
We have held long term
relationships with both
Stoke City & Port Vale
Football Clubs, of which
both include sponsorship.
Brown Recycling have
worked with site staff
over 6yrs to manufacture
the tailored current waste
solution at Alton Towers.
We have continued to
raise money and support
these charities through
our staff organised events
and sponsorship.
With challenging waste
streams, we continue to
work with site staff to
review best practice to
ensure legal compliance.
THE WASTE HIERARCHY
Reduce
Re-use
Recycle
Recovery
Disposal
Reducing the volume of surplus material produced
onsite – Design, manufacture, endurance of
product
Using materials repeatedly and preparing materials
for re-use – through cleaning, repairing, secondary
use
Using existing or surplus materials to make new
products – commodities such as: metals, paper,
card, plastics
Energy from waste or pyrolysis, this could be from
food or unrecoverable waste (where “TEEP” has
already been applied)
Disposal of waste to landfill or Incineration without
energy recovery
At Brown Recycling Ltd we strive
to continuously provide waste
solutions whilst applying the
“Waste Hierarchy”. Our reputation
has been built on:
 Our family name
 A personal service
 Innovative solutions
 Innovative equipment
 Versatile fleet
 Flexibility to service
We now have three processing
facilities enabling us to maximise
our ability to provide:
“ZERO WASTE TO LANDFILL”
ZERO WASTE TO LANDFILL
Where practical your waste will be segregated and
recycled at our facility, “RDF” is the final option for the
elements of your waste where applying TEEP defines
it is not practical to segregate.
100% Recycling can be achieved through Brown Recycling Ltd
collections as we use a modern recovery facility which produces
Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) to which we welcome customers to tour.
By collecting several materials at the same time
we are reducing the number of collection vehicles
required and therefore collections will have a lower
environmental and economic impact.
Source separated recycling should only be considered
if by segregating the waste, it is:
 T - echnically
 E - nvironmentally
 E - conomically
 P - racticable

INDEX LINKED COMMODITIES
The prices discovered on LME trading
platforms are global reference prices.
These are vitally important to miners,
smelters, refiners and consumers as
they use these prices when
negotiating physical deals, either at a
‘discount’ to the LME price, or at a
‘premium'.
The letsrecycle.com prices section
gives an online guide as an indicator
to prices that may be paid for
collected materials which is known as
‘ex works’ rather than material
delivered in to a reprocessing plant.
Letsrecycle.com is an industry
recognised Index.
BALERS & COMPACTORS
Static Compactor
(Dry, compactable non -
hazardous Waste)
Vertical Baler
(up to 5t cardboard)
Horizontal Baler (over
5t cardboard)
