2. History of coca-cola
Coca-Cola history began in 1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta
pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton, led him to create a distinctive
tasting soft drink that could be sold at soda fountains. He created
a flavored syrup, took it to his neighborhood pharmacy, where it
was mixed with carbonated water and deemed “excellent” by
those who sampled it. Dr. Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper,
Frank M. Robinson, is credited with naming the beverage
“Coca-Cola” as well as designing the trademarked, distinct script,
still used today.
3. What is coca-cola?
Coca-Cola, or Coke is a carbonated soft
drink manufactured by The Coca-Cola Company. Originally
intended as a patent medicine, it was invented in the late
19th century by John Pemberton and was bought out by
businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics
led Coca-Cola to its dominance of the world soft-drink
market throughout the 20th century. The drink's name refers
to two of its original ingredients: coca leaves, and kola
nuts (a source of caffeine). The current formula of Coca-
Cola remains a trade secret, although a variety of reported
recipes and experimental recreations have been published.
