The Sofitel Broadbeach, Gold Coast
inspiring leadership in procurement
The 5th PASA CPO Exchange
PAGE 2
The opening keynote session with Dr Moira
Scerri on day two, entitled “Procurement-as-
a-service”, will examine the fundamentals of
customer centricity and customer journey
mapping, equipping you with strategies for
creating customer value at each point of the
procurement process.
While the main theme of the event is based
on personal and team development and
wellbeing, procurement is of course also
on the agenda. The round-table discussion
sessions will provide CPOs with the
opportunity to discuss their key procurement
challenges with their peers and find answers
or solutions to their specific problems.
Of course, the exchange format dictates that
CPOs attending must commit to a minimum
of six half-hour meetings with sponsoring
supplier partners. Our previous experience
with this has revealed that CPOs actually
find the opportunity to meet with suppliers
who they may not usually meet, a valuable
experience. Conducted in a very relaxed
and informal way, the meetings provide an
opportunity for both parties to learn more
about each other explore whether or not
there might be value in working together.
The final element of the event, and one that
always receives extremely positive feedback,
is the opportunity for informal networking
throughout the event. Whether it be with
fellow CPOs or participating speakers,
facilitators or suppliers, there is plenty of time
scheduled within the programme to build real
connections that can deliver value.
I trust you find this of interest and look
forward to welcoming you to the Gold Coast
for what will be an inspiring experience,
Nigel Wardropper
Managing Director | PASA
“This was my second PASA CPO
Exchange, and was even more
enjoyable and valuable than the
first. I would recommend this
event to any CPO looking to learn
from industry peers, meet with
innovative suppliers and be both
entertained and challenged by
some thought-provoking speakers.
Well done PASA. “
Inspiring Leadership
in Procurement
Have you ever wondered why some
executives achieve and really thrive while
others are fighting to survive? The corporate
landscape has changed, it is more competitive
than ever and the leaders of tomorrow will
need to create a shared sense of purpose
and manage through influence rather than
command and control.
The leaders of tomorrow will need to provide
the spark, the story, and the vision.
At the 5th PASA CPO Exchange – “Inspiring
Leadership in Procurement” - Jacob Galea,
one of Australia’s leading Executive Coaches,
will teach you the secrets of the elite business
players.
Jacob’s work has been featured in BRW, The
Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Institute of
Management, on Radio, and he is the author
of the popular new book “Birth of the Super
You”.
Jacob will run through what it takes to be
Super Successful moving forward, taking you
on an amazing journey in his sessions where
you will walk away inspired, motivated, and
with key tools you can action in your business
immediately.
Also on day one we will have Edward Cabella
(The Mindful Warrior) taking you through
some mindful exercises, learning meditation,
and understanding how to use stress to win.
Jacob and Edward led the programme at the
4th PASA CPO Exchange in August 2015. See
on the following page what attending CPO’s
had to say about their contribution.
Jacob and Ed will be providing a limited
number of one-to-one executive coaching
sessions in the areas of leadership and
health and personal well-being during the
conference. These sessions are strictly limited
and will be allocated to the first people to
confirm their registration.

Overall event
experience
“This was my first CPO Exchange and I was
incredibly impressed by the whole event.”
“Thanks you so much for putting on the
CPO Exchange last week. I really enjoyed
it. I wasn’t sure what to expect and was
pleasantly surprised. “
“The overall event experience (venue,
dinner, catering, scheduling) – very good.”
“Great location, food was good and the
weather perfect. I’d definitely recommend it
to others!”
“I found the format and round-table
sessions very useful and informative. The
overall event was well received by all and
the motivational speakers very useful.
Again, thank you!”
About the
Keynote Sessions
“The keynote speaker sessions – These were
different, challenging and stepped people
out of the comfort zone – never a bad idea –
even though it feels like it at the time.”
“This was a great initiative to encourage
us to look at working in a different way
that focuses on the wellbeing of those that
work for and around us. It was a different
approach and was very refreshing.”
“The keynote speaker sessions were excellent.
Most workshop/functions require something
immediately to engage the audience, this was
aptly supported by the choice of Jacob Galea
who invigorated the crowd immediately. His
enthusiasm and energy was a perfect choice
to kick start an intense couple of days.”
“All very good sessions. We need to take time
out to refresh and renew. This years speakers
were all appropriate facilitators who helped
us to collectively step back and look at
the bigger picture of what was happening
around us. Very useful sessions – presented
well.”
“I really like them, they inspired me so much.
Jacob was good.”
“I thought the keynote speeches were good
- especially in that they weren’t just about
procurement. Some good thought-provoking
stuff.”
About the
supplier meetings
“The supplier meetings – good mix of
suppliers that met both big and large
company needs”
“The supplier meetings weren’t
overwhelming, nor were they pushy, but
merely wanted to understand our business
and provide an overview of what they could
potentially offer. They were very relevant
and have armed myself with a greater
knowledge of what products are about in
the market place today.”
“These meetings are very good. They are an
“eye opener”. Most of them are what I am
looking for.”
“I really liked the supplier meetings in that
they weren’t a pure “sell” (I’m not sure if you
briefed the suppliers on this point? If so it
worked really well!) - I got more out of these
meetings than I got out of the ones last year
for that reason. “
About the
round-table
sessions
“Any time you get a group of CPO’s sitting
around talking about a topic, it’s bound
to be interesting. Having the freedom to
go wherever the conversation took us was
of great benefit. Everyone participated
and everyone took something from each
conversation.”
“The round-table sessions had a great
array of discussions, there was something
for everyone. It provided insights into our
profession and the challenges we are all
confronted with. There were excellent
debates, whilst sharing war stories and
knowledge was always at the forefront of
every discussion.”
“Some real examples of challenges that
CPOs are experiencing right now.”
“The round-table sessions – very good –
some may have been improved if we had
a general scenario to discuss rather than
feeling we were helping 1 person out with
their specific issue … but then again the
idea needed to come from somewhere.”
What CPOs had to say after the last CPO Exchange
PASA | W: PASACPOEXCHANGE.COM | P: 07 5644 0515 | E: REGOS@BTTBONLINE.COM
- Transfers back to Gold Coast airport
if leaving at the end of the conference
(Those staying on for additional R&R will
need to organise their own transfers).
In exchange for all of this, all you have to
do is get yourself to the event and commit
to attending a minimum of six half-hour
meetings with participating partners.
What is in it
for you as a CPO?
The PASA CPO Exchange provides you
with the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing,
informative couple of days, at minimal cost,
in the company of your peers and a number
of leading suppliers of products, tools or
services.
Attending CPOs
will receive:
The opportunity to attend an exclusive
networking event with a select group of
your peers -free of charge. Places are strictly
limited to ensure the right atmosphere of
exclusivity and intimacy.
- An educational programme featuring:
• Four keynote sessions that will send you
away re-energized and equipped to drive
peak performance from yourself and your
team.
• Up to ten intimate round-table sessions
during which you can discuss your key
procurement challenges with your peers.
• A half-hour one-to-one session with one of
Australia’s leading executive coaches on
either leadership or health and personal
wellbeing (limited spots available – first
come, first served)
• Dedicated meeting time to meet potential
new suppliers and discuss how they might
be able to assist your business.
- A Networking Dinner on Thursday
evening, featuring a guest speaker.
- A Networking Breakfast on Friday
morning.
- Free accommodation at the Sofitel
Broadbeach for up to three nights.
How the
Event Works
All delegates will attend the keynote and
networking sessions together. Where the
programme shows round-tables, executive
coaching or partner meetings, CPO delegates
will attend one or the other. For each one-
hour round-table session, there are two
half-hour partner meeting slots available.
This means that CPO delegates will be able
to attend up to five of the eight round-table
sessions, leaving three such timeslots open
to fulfil their commitment to their six supplier
meetings. Of course, if CPOs wish to conduct
more supplier meetings, they are welcome to
do so (a number of attendees at previous CPO
Exchanges added on extra partner meetings)

“ThePASACPOExchangewasafantasticopportunitytoengagewithfellowseniorProcurement
executives to share thoughts on the challenges and opportunities facing the profession across
multiple industry sectors. The quality addition to the agenda of high performance business
coaches and experts on emotional and cultural intelligence also created space for necessary
introspection and future focus. I would thoroughly recommend this exchange to other senior
Procurement leaders.”

Director, Commercial Services, Operations and Property

Round-table
Sessions
Undoubtedly, one of the strongest benefits
of attending for CPOs, is the opportunity
to discuss key challenges with their peers.
The headline topics for the round-table
sessions will be nominated by CPOs, with
those selected to be discussed asked to chair
their discussion. This format will allow even
greater personalisation of the programme,
enabling CPOs to draw on the knowledge
and experience of their peers in search of
solutions.
On receiving the registration agreement
and as a precursor to starting the meetings
organising process, we will contact CPOs to
ask them to nominate round-table topics and
to volunteer to lead the discussion.
Organising your
schedule in
Marcom
A few weeks before the event, attendees
will be provided with access to an online
meetings scheduling application (Marcom)
that allows liaison with the Exchange Partners
and Executive Coaches to organise meetings
schedules. The software assists you to build
your schedule to maximise your opportunities
to attend those round-table sessions you wish
to attend, while fulfilling your obligations with
regard to Partner Meetings.
The sooner you commence this process, the
greater the likelihood that you can create your
perfect schedule.

“It was a great experience delivered from an
exceptional location. People are what make
these events successful, and to be able to attract
the level of calibre from such a wide array of
industries is a credit to PASA, as well as the
delivery, which was top class and professionally
delivered. To be able to interact and network
with likeminded professionals provided an
excellent opportunity to discuss relevant
topics affecting us every day. The catering
provided for all whilst the venue was warm and
accommodating. Scheduling allowed breathing
space and if topics ran over time, it was able to
made up. The dinner was a great night, excellent
interactions between all concerned, whilst the
entertainment (Mick Colliss – Sudoko Champion)
was top notch..”

Procurement-as-a-service
Contemporary business practices are moving from traditional ‘buyer and supplier’ relations to
integrated supplier networks. This change requires greater coordination and innovation across
connected business and industries. Third party service providers, acting as intermediaries, have
the potential to disrupt the market and change the face and nature of procurement. Customer
centricity is at the heart of this change. In this session we examine the fundamentals of customer
centricity and customer journey mapping. Strategies for creating customer value at each point
of the procurement process will be presented and participants will have hands on experience in
persona development, the first step to creating a customer journey map and moving to a more
customer centric operation.

Edward Cabello made his mark as an undercover police officer in the NSW Police Force in the
early 90s, where he began his journey into the field of stress management. During a critical
incident where shots were fired, he learned first hand the effects of physical and psychological
stress. He left the Police Force in 2000 after serving with distinction and garnering numerous
awards including a Bravery Medal.
At the time Edward was practicing Internal Martial Arts, which led to a 25-year journey in the
study of three very rare forms of Chinese martial arts - Tai Chi Chuan, Hsing I and Ba Gua.
Through the meditative aspects of this training Edward learned and developed strategies to deal
with stress. He is now recognised as a dynamic and authentic speaker; and a leading authority in
the field of Stress Management, Peak Performance and wellness.
He believes one never stops learning, and is currently studying Kundalini Meditation and MMA.
Edward’s passion is exploring the power of breath energy and the focused mind in a lifelong
commitment where he continues to push the boundaries of mind management.
Edward has worked with thousands of clients from companies like AMP and Citigroup, and in
particular with business leaders who have lost the balance in their lives. He works on a one to one
basis or in group sessions across a broad field, with his main goal to help people attain health,
happiness and success in all areas of life.
Edward is also committed to working with young people, in particular with youth in Juvenile
Detention. In 2008 Edward developed a programme called Turnaround, incorporating fitness,
health activities and mentoring. In 2010, the program saw its first graduate, a young man able
to re-enter the community, who is now employed and in a stable relationship, making a positive
contribution to society.
Edward’s legacy is to plant a seed of health and wellbeing into the minds of the next generation of
entrepreneurs so that they can truly enjoy the fruits of their labour.
His motto is “there’s no wealth without health”.
“In addition to their keynote sessions, Jacob and Edward will
be offering a limited number of executive coaching sessions
on leadership and health throughout the event. These will be

The 5th PASA CPO Exchange - Invitation brochure

  • 1. 10th & 11th March 2016 The Sofitel Broadbeach, Gold Coast inspiring leadership in procurement The 5th PASA CPO Exchange
  • 2. PAGE 2 The opening keynote session with Dr Moira Scerri on day two, entitled “Procurement-as- a-service”, will examine the fundamentals of customer centricity and customer journey mapping, equipping you with strategies for creating customer value at each point of the procurement process. While the main theme of the event is based on personal and team development and wellbeing, procurement is of course also on the agenda. The round-table discussion sessions will provide CPOs with the opportunity to discuss their key procurement challenges with their peers and find answers or solutions to their specific problems. Of course, the exchange format dictates that CPOs attending must commit to a minimum of six half-hour meetings with sponsoring supplier partners. Our previous experience with this has revealed that CPOs actually find the opportunity to meet with suppliers who they may not usually meet, a valuable experience. Conducted in a very relaxed and informal way, the meetings provide an opportunity for both parties to learn more about each other explore whether or not there might be value in working together. The final element of the event, and one that always receives extremely positive feedback, is the opportunity for informal networking throughout the event. Whether it be with fellow CPOs or participating speakers, facilitators or suppliers, there is plenty of time scheduled within the programme to build real connections that can deliver value. I trust you find this of interest and look forward to welcoming you to the Gold Coast for what will be an inspiring experience, Nigel Wardropper Managing Director | PASA “This was my second PASA CPO Exchange, and was even more enjoyable and valuable than the first. I would recommend this event to any CPO looking to learn from industry peers, meet with innovative suppliers and be both entertained and challenged by some thought-provoking speakers. Well done PASA. “ Inspiring Leadership in Procurement Have you ever wondered why some executives achieve and really thrive while others are fighting to survive? The corporate landscape has changed, it is more competitive than ever and the leaders of tomorrow will need to create a shared sense of purpose and manage through influence rather than command and control. The leaders of tomorrow will need to provide the spark, the story, and the vision. At the 5th PASA CPO Exchange – “Inspiring Leadership in Procurement” - Jacob Galea, one of Australia’s leading Executive Coaches, will teach you the secrets of the elite business players. Jacob’s work has been featured in BRW, The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Institute of Management, on Radio, and he is the author of the popular new book “Birth of the Super You”. Jacob will run through what it takes to be Super Successful moving forward, taking you on an amazing journey in his sessions where you will walk away inspired, motivated, and with key tools you can action in your business immediately. Also on day one we will have Edward Cabella (The Mindful Warrior) taking you through some mindful exercises, learning meditation, and understanding how to use stress to win. Jacob and Edward led the programme at the 4th PASA CPO Exchange in August 2015. See on the following page what attending CPO’s had to say about their contribution. Jacob and Ed will be providing a limited number of one-to-one executive coaching sessions in the areas of leadership and health and personal well-being during the conference. These sessions are strictly limited and will be allocated to the first people to confirm their registration. • 3. PAGE 3 Overall event experience “This was my first CPO Exchange and I was incredibly impressed by the whole event.” “Thanks you so much for putting on the CPO Exchange last week. I really enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. “ “The overall event experience (venue, dinner, catering, scheduling) – very good.” “Great location, food was good and the weather perfect. I’d definitely recommend it to others!” “I found the format and round-table sessions very useful and informative. The overall event was well received by all and the motivational speakers very useful. Again, thank you!” About the Keynote Sessions “The keynote speaker sessions – These were different, challenging and stepped people out of the comfort zone – never a bad idea – even though it feels like it at the time.” “This was a great initiative to encourage us to look at working in a different way that focuses on the wellbeing of those that work for and around us. It was a different approach and was very refreshing.” “The keynote speaker sessions were excellent. Most workshop/functions require something immediately to engage the audience, this was aptly supported by the choice of Jacob Galea who invigorated the crowd immediately. His enthusiasm and energy was a perfect choice to kick start an intense couple of days.” “All very good sessions. We need to take time out to refresh and renew. This years speakers were all appropriate facilitators who helped us to collectively step back and look at the bigger picture of what was happening around us. Very useful sessions – presented well.” “I really like them, they inspired me so much. Jacob was good.” “I thought the keynote speeches were good - especially in that they weren’t just about procurement. Some good thought-provoking stuff.” About the supplier meetings “The supplier meetings – good mix of suppliers that met both big and large company needs” “The supplier meetings weren’t overwhelming, nor were they pushy, but merely wanted to understand our business and provide an overview of what they could potentially offer. They were very relevant and have armed myself with a greater knowledge of what products are about in the market place today.” “These meetings are very good. They are an “eye opener”. Most of them are what I am looking for.” “I really liked the supplier meetings in that they weren’t a pure “sell” (I’m not sure if you briefed the suppliers on this point? If so it worked really well!) - I got more out of these meetings than I got out of the ones last year for that reason. “ About the round-table sessions “Any time you get a group of CPO’s sitting around talking about a topic, it’s bound to be interesting. Having the freedom to go wherever the conversation took us was of great benefit. Everyone participated and everyone took something from each conversation.” “The round-table sessions had a great array of discussions, there was something for everyone. It provided insights into our profession and the challenges we are all confronted with. There were excellent debates, whilst sharing war stories and knowledge was always at the forefront of every discussion.” “Some real examples of challenges that CPOs are experiencing right now.” “The round-table sessions – very good – some may have been improved if we had a general scenario to discuss rather than feeling we were helping 1 person out with their specific issue … but then again the idea needed to come from somewhere.” What CPOs had to say after the last CPO Exchange PASA | W: PASACPOEXCHANGE.COM | P: 07 5644 0515 | E: REGOS@BTTBONLINE.COM
  • 4. - Transfers back to Gold Coast airport if leaving at the end of the conference (Those staying on for additional R&R will need to organise their own transfers). In exchange for all of this, all you have to do is get yourself to the event and commit to attending a minimum of six half-hour meetings with participating partners. What is in it for you as a CPO? The PASA CPO Exchange provides you with the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing, informative couple of days, at minimal cost, in the company of your peers and a number of leading suppliers of products, tools or services. Attending CPOs will receive: The opportunity to attend an exclusive networking event with a select group of your peers -free of charge. Places are strictly limited to ensure the right atmosphere of exclusivity and intimacy. - An educational programme featuring: • Four keynote sessions that will send you away re-energized and equipped to drive peak performance from yourself and your team. • Up to ten intimate round-table sessions during which you can discuss your key procurement challenges with your peers. • A half-hour one-to-one session with one of Australia’s leading executive coaches on either leadership or health and personal wellbeing (limited spots available – first come, first served) • Dedicated meeting time to meet potential new suppliers and discuss how they might be able to assist your business. - A Networking Dinner on Thursday evening, featuring a guest speaker. - A Networking Breakfast on Friday morning. - Free accommodation at the Sofitel Broadbeach for up to three nights. For each one- hour round-table session, there are two half-hour partner meeting slots available. This means that CPO delegates will be able to attend up to five of the eight round-table sessions, leaving three such timeslots open to fulfil their commitment to their six supplier meetings. Of course, if CPOs wish to conduct more supplier meetings, they are welcome to do so (a number of attendees at previous CPO Exchanges added on extra partner meetings) PAGE 4PASA | W: PASACPOEXCHANGE.COM | P: 07 5644 0515 | E: REGOS@BTTBONLINE.COM “ThePASACPOExchangewasafantasticopportunitytoengagewithfellowseniorProcurement executives to share thoughts on the challenges and opportunities facing the profession across multiple industry sectors. The quality addition to the agenda of high performance business coaches and experts on emotional and cultural intelligence also created space for necessary introspection and future focus. I would thoroughly recommend this exchange to other senior Procurement leaders.” Rob Halsall Director, Commercial Services, Operations and Property Westpac Group
  • 5. Round-table Sessions Undoubtedly, one of the strongest benefits of attending for CPOs, is the opportunity to discuss key challenges with their peers. The headline topics for the round-table sessions will be nominated by CPOs, with those selected to be discussed asked to chair their discussion. This format will allow even greater personalisation of the programme, enabling CPOs to draw on the knowledge and experience of their peers in search of solutions. On receiving the registration agreement and as a precursor to starting the meetings organising process, we will contact CPOs to ask them to nominate round-table topics and to volunteer to lead the discussion. Organising your schedule in Marcom A few weeks before the event, attendees will be provided with access to an online meetings scheduling application (Marcom) that allows liaison with the Exchange Partners and Executive Coaches to organise meetings schedules. The software assists you to build your schedule to maximise your opportunities to attend those round-table sessions you wish to attend, while fulfilling your obligations with regard to Partner Meetings. The sooner you commence this process, the greater the likelihood that you can create your perfect schedule. PAGE 5PASA | W: PASACPOEXCHANGE.COM | P: 07 5644 0515 | E: REGOS@BTTBONLINE.COM “It was a great experience delivered from an exceptional location. People are what make these events successful, and to be able to attract the level of calibre from such a wide array of industries is a credit to PASA, as well as the delivery, which was top class and professionally delivered. To be able to interact and network with likeminded professionals provided an excellent opportunity to discuss relevant topics affecting us every day. The catering provided for all whilst the venue was warm and accommodating. Scheduling allowed breathing space and if topics ran over time, it was able to made up. The dinner was a great night, excellent interactions between all concerned, whilst the entertainment (Mick Colliss – Sudoko Champion) was top notch..” Shane Sherwood General Manager Procurement Westrac

This change requires greater coordination and innovation across connected business and industries. In this session we examine the fundamentals of customer centricity and customer journey mapping. Strategies for creating customer value at each point of the procurement process will be presented and participants will have hands on experience in persona development, the first step to creating a customer journey map and moving to a more customer centric operation.
