2. INTRODUCTION:
• In today's life, everyone gives i.mporta.nce to time. time
does not wait for anybody.
• Everything should be performed in time & accurately. Now
a day's school or colJege bells are manually operated.
• Hence there is a big question ofaccuracy. Also there is
necessity of manpower and money.
• Hence here we should use automatic control system, which
saves our manpower and money & also gives highest
accuracy, Hence we have selected the project.
3. OBJECTIIVE:
• The main objective ofthis project is to implement Automaticcollege
bell on a ARDUINO UNO Board.
• the prima.ry objective ofdesigning this project is to reduce the human
intervention for the purpose ofmanual switching operation ofa bell.
• Because ofthis manual switching weare not sure about the accuracy of
the time.
• So, a system should be designed in such a way that it is exactly
dependent on real time clock and the switching ofthe bell should be
contro!Ued automatically without human intervention.
4. What is the need of a bell?
• Generally, whereverwe may go, it might be a school oran organisation
ifstart or stop ofany process is to be conveyed toa large numberof
people, a bell is used over there which signals the start or stop ofany
process.
So, simply a bell is used to give indication about the beginning or
termination ofany process.
Hov is it operated?
• From olden days to till today we are still dependent on manual
switching operation ofa bell with the help ofa person.
5. Disadvantages of manual switching:
• Accuracy is reduced
• Waste of man power
• Waste of money
Need for automation:
• Increased throughput or productivity
• Improved quality or increased predictability ofquality.
• Improved robustness (consistency), ofprocesses or
product.
• Increased consistency ofoutput.
• Reduced direct human labor costs and expenses.

7. COMPONENTS INVOLVED IN THIS DESIGN:
• PC
• ARDUINO SOFTWARE.
• ARDUINO UNO BOARD.
• BUZZER (OR) BELL.
• LCD MODULE FOR DISPLAY OF DATE AND TIME.
• POWER SUPPLY.
• LM386 AUDIO AMPllFrER.
• SPEAKER
8. FUNCTIONING PROCESS:
• Createa new project in ARDUINO and then write thecode for the
design to be implemented
• As the bell is dependent on real time clock for its functioning as per the
given schedule, firstly, we have to make use ofa RTC-DS1307 module
to implement the functioning ofthe bell,
• Based upon the timing mode of RTC ,a schedule is assigned in the code
itselffor the bell to ring at some regular intervals of time without
human intervention.
• After the code is written, check for errors and then upload it on to the
ARDUINO UNO board and verify the functioning ofthe designed
circuit by checking the output.
9. ADVANTAGES:
• This project can be used in educational institutes, colleges, schools.
• Automatic scheduling ofbell is possible in thecode itselfdirectJy.
• This project can also be used in industries.
• Human errors can beavoided.
• It is an automatic system.
• Safety isassured.
• Cost is less.
10. APPLICATIONS:
• Can be used in schoolsorcollegesorany otherorganizations
• Washing machines
• Microwave ovens
• Video recorders
• Security systems
• Digital watches.
11. CONCLUSION:
• Presenl day ringing 1he bell in colleges or schools arc carried oul manually.
So this should be eliminated comple1ely by making use ofautomation.
• The moin disadvantage of this is thot one person hos to be olert for this and
the probability oferror is more.
• To overcome this, we have decided to prepare the circuit which will be
operated automatically and the ringing of bell will slart by its given time.
