Oral surgery procedures require preparation and remedies for anxiety, infection, bleeding, pain, and recovery. Before surgery, Gelsemium or Aconite can calm nerves, while Pyrogen protects against infection. Arnica and Hypericum are excellent post-operative remedies for shock, nerve damage, and pain. During convalescence, continue Arnica and Hypericum until healing, using Hepar sulphur or other remedies for any infection. 1. Oral Surgery
If you are having an oral surgery procedure followthe
same principles and remedies as you would for other
surgery. It's helpful to prepare in advance for the surgery
and recovery process with appropriate remedies, tissue
salts, vitamins and mineral
supplements.
Before surgery: If you are
anxious Gelsemium or Aconite
can be very good for calming pre-surgery nerves. Start 2-3
times daily from a few days before the appointment. To
help protect against infection take Pyrogen on the day
prior to surgery and continue for several days. If there is a
bleeding tendency or for people who have adverse
reactions to anaesthetics use Phosphorus, starting with a
few doses prior to the procedure.
Post operative recovery: Arnica is an excellent remedy
for surgical shock, and for the bruised sore feeling
following surgery. Hypericum is for nerve damage and
repair. For pain at the incision site and to promote repair
after any incised wound use Staphysagria. If there is
threatened infection at the site take Hepar sulph followed
by Silica. To assist in repair of bone and periodontal tissue
after difficult extractions or oral surgery use Ruta grav
regularly.

2. Convalescence: Depending on howcomplicated and
difficult the procedure was you should expect some
moderate swelling and pain. Continue Arnica and
Hypericum until healing is underway. If you suspect
infection then immediately start Hepar sulph or other
indicated remedies and contact your dentist. Dry socket is
relieved by Ruta grav.
