1. West to East Culture Tour : 13 Nights/14 Days
Day 01: Paro
Sightseeing in Paro including Paro Rinpung Dzong and National Museum, after lunch visit
Drukgyel Dzong - Fortress of Victory - and the sacred Kyichu Lhakhang Temple. Dinner and
overnight in Paro hotel.
Day 02: Hike to Tiger Nest
Take a day hike to the ‘Tiger’s Nest’, the sacred
Taktshang monastery, and have lunch at the
Taktshang cafeteria. On the way back you can
visit Dumtse Lhakhang, a temple built
by Thangthong Gyalpo, the iron bridge builder.
Dinner and overnight in Thimphu hotel.
Day 03: Thimphu
Sightseeing in Thimphu where you can visit the National Memorial Chorten, Gaint Buddha
statue, the National Library, the National Painting School and Changangkha Temple. Browse
the striking collectionof intricate textiles at the National Textile Museum and visit the Folk
Museum. You may also be able to visit the weekly market. Evening free time to walk around
Thimphu town and Overnight in Thimphu
Day 04: Thimphu - Punakha
In the morning drive to Punakha via the Dochu La Pass, where we will stop for a hot drink and
enjoy views of the Eastern Himalaya range. In the afternoon visit Punakha Dzong,
Chimi Lhakhang - Temple of Fertility- built in the 15th century by the ‘Divine Mad Man’ -
Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Dinner and overnight in Punakha hotel.
Day 05: Punakha - Gangtey
Drive from Punakha to Gangtey via Wangdi. Visit Gangtey monastery, overlooking the
Phbojikha valley. This is an old and largest monastery in western part of Bhutan founded by
Gyalse Pema Thinley in 1613. After lunch explore the valley where the villagers continue to
live a traditional Bhutanese rural lifestyle. You can also enjoy the beautiful view of Phobjikha
Valley, home to Black Necked Cranes in winter. Dinner and overnight at Gangtey hotel.
2. Day 06: Gangtey - Trongsa
Morning drive to Trongsa with a visit to
Chendbji Chorten, patterned on Kathmandu's
Swayambhunath Stupa. Dinner and overnight in
Trongsa hotel.
Day07: Trongsa - Bumthang
After breakfast . You can stop to visit the
impressive Trongsa Dzong, a major, ancient
landmark. Visit the new museum in the
watchtower dedicated to the Wangchuk
Dynastry, which tells the stories of the Dzong and features personal belongings of the Kings and
Queens of Bhutan. Continue your journey through some of Bhutan’s most beautiful landscapes
to Bumthang. Dinner and overnight in Bumthang hotel.
Day 08: Bumthang
After breakfast sightseeing around Bumthang valley and you will cover the most important
tourist sites at Kurjey lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Tamshing Temple and Jakar Dzong. This is
the place where Guru Rimpoche first visited to Bhutan in 746 AD. It is blessed by Guru
Rimpoche and many other great gurus. Dinner and overnight in Bumthang hotel.
Day 09 : Bumthang - Mongar
After breakfast you travel to Mongar and visit URA valley on route. It is one of the largest
clusters of traditional villages in Bhutan consisting of many households and residents. You will
pass through Thrumshing La pass, the highest pass on the East - West high way. Mongar marks
the beginning of the eastern Bhutan, the second largest town in the sub-tropical East. Dinner and
overnight in Mogar hotel.
Day 10: Excursion to Lhuntse
After breakfast you will drive to Lhuntse. The landscape is spectacular, with stark cliffs
towering above river gorges and dense coniferous forests. The region is famous for its weavers,
and their distinctive textiles are generally considered to be the best in the country. Kurtoep
women are especially adept at weaving a textile called Kishuthara, Visit to Lhuntse Dzong
before your return trip down the valley. Dinner and overnight in Mongar hotel.
3. Day 11: Mongar - Trashigang
Morning after breakfast drive to Tashigang through Kori La pass and along Drangme Chu River.
Drangme Chu is the longest and biggest river in Bhutan. Visit to Tashigang Dzong, built in 1167
by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel and now houses administrave and religious seats for the
district. There’s time to explore around Trashigang town. Dinner and overnight in Trashigang
hotel.
Day 12: Excursion to Trashi Yangtse.
Day excursion to Trashi Yangtse traveling up a spectacular river valley. The people are known
for making wooden bowls and containers, said to be best in Bhutan. Visit to Dongter Dzong,
Chorten Kora, Institute for the Arts and Trashi Yantse. After lunch the way back features a short
visit to Tshenkhar La to see the beautiful mountain views in Arnuchal Pradesh, India and a visit
to Gomphu Kora. Dinner and overnight in Trashigang hotel.
Day 13: Trashigang – Samdrup Jongkhar
After breakfast you head south to the border
crossing at Samdrup Jongkhar. Today you
will pass through Sherubtse University in
Bhutan. There is a stop to visit Khaling
weaving center then finally to Samdrup
Jongkhar the border of Bhutan and India.
Dinner and overnight in Samdrup Jongkhar
hotel.
Day 14: Samdrup Jongkhar – Guwahati.
Leave for Guwahati - Assam, India - to
catch your flight.
