2. Take Advantage of the new Ice Rink and Skate at
least twice a week
Specific: Head to the Ice Rink at least two days a week for at least an hour
Measurable: I will write ahead of time when I plan to go to the rink so I can schedule
that hour and be dedicated to it
Attainable: This is not something I want to force myself to do, but rather enjoy. I used
to skate as a kid and now feel as if it is only right to start again now that we have this
great arena. I will use that time not only as a workout, but also as a stress reliever.
Realistic: I won't lie, my schedule is crazy, but I know that this is important to my
health, both mental and physical. And an hour every couple of days is not too much to
ask for.
Timely: I'm going to do this until November 1st.
The reason why I chose this goal is because I have always loved ice skating and
really wanted to take advantage of the new rink. I thought it would be a great
way to blow off steam and stress when things got crazy and from some of my
research, I found out how good ice skating is for you and for your
cardiovascular system. I hate running, so I figured this would be a great
subsitute.

my research, I found out how good ice skating is
for you and for your cardiovascular system. I
hate running because it hurts my knees and so I
figured this would be a great substitute because
it is so low impact.
4. Some factors that will influence my success are enabling factors
such as the availability of the rink, finding time, and my own skills
and abilities. Some reinforcing factors include peer support
(because it’s always fun to go skating in a group).
Some barriers are both my class schedule as well as my rehearsal
schedule and finding time to go to the rink. Also, the hours that
the rink is open for public skating and the ability to find a
corresponding time to go.
Some Resources that may help me reach my goal are my friends
and the fact that they like to skate as well, knowing that it is a
stress reliever and something I can do and just relax during, my
own motivation to go down to the rink and make some time for
myself.
6. Sadly, I did not meet my goal. I had trouble finding
time to go to the rink with the hours it was available
with the times I was free. It was very frustrating
because I knew I wanted to make time, but my
schedule simply wouldn’t allow it to work. It was
easier to find time at the start of the semester, but as
things got going, my schedule became more and
more hectic. I did manage to go twice every two
weeks, so I didn’t give up all together. I consider a step
in the right direction and now realize that setting a
goal is important and even if you can’t meet it
entirely, it’s still crucial to keep at it.
