- 2. What is poverty? • Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter. However, poverty is more, much more than just not having enough money.

Health – the lack of windows or proper ventilation cause respiratory diseases, while the lack of proper toilets help the spread of diseases such as cholera or typhoid Safety – from the rain, storms, earthquakes Security – imagine not having a door in your home (tent or shelter); anything you own is at risk of theft. Education opportunities – children who live in unsafe shelters have much lower school attendance and completion rates. Their homes often leak in various places, ruining school material and increasing their chance of becoming ill. Effects of poverty

Social enterprises getting rid of poverty These enterprises create sustainable social impact by providing the poor with beneficial products and services, while creating improved livelihood opportunities.
