Olya Georgieva completed a traineeship at the European Centre for Global Interdependence and Solidarity from March 1 to June 30, 2016. During her traineeship, she assisted with preparations for the Global Education Programme and North-South Prize, including drafting a country profiles questionnaire, concept note for Global Education Week 2016, and updating materials for the 2015 North-South Prize award ceremony. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I am pleased to certify that Ms. Olya Georgieva completed a traineeship at the European Centre
for Global Interdependence and Solidarity (North-South Centre of the Council of Europe), from 1
March to 30 June 2016.
This experience allowed Ms. Georgieva to adapt and perform in a working environment, to have
a better knowledge of the structure and activities of the North-South Centre of the Council of
Europe as well as and an understanding of international co-operation, particularly in the field of
Global Education.
Ms. Georgieva worked mostly in the framework of the Global Education Programme and of the
North-South Prize. She got acquainted with international work and interaction with
representatives of governments, parliaments, local and regional authorities, civil society (NGO),
experts and institutions from different countries of the Euro Mediterranean region.
More concretely, during her traineeship Ms. Georgieva made a significant contribution to the
preparations and implementation of the following activities:
- Global Education Programme:
Preparation of a Country Profiles Questionnaire. The questionnaire is intended to help the GE
network coordinators to map the situation in their respective countries. The summary of the
results would allow the NSC to identify the positive prospects and address the challenges in the
field of GE. The purpose of these country profiles is also to share information within the GEW
network members and help the NSC programmatic planning.
Drafting of the Concept Note for the Global Education Week 2016 edition. Based on framework
documents, national and regional GE seminars reports and European recommendations, the
GEW concept note contextualises the international situation in the field of GE and identifies
useful links, practices and resources that can help practitioners implementing awareness-raising
activities during the GEW under the chosen theme “Acting together for a World of Peace”.
Ms. GEORGIEVA assisted the Global Education Programme Manager with reports, summaries
and translations of working documents, as well as reviewing the Bulgarian version of the Global
Education Guidelines.
- North-South Prize 2016 and 2015 Award Ceremony
The involvement of Ms. Georgieva in this domain consisted in assisting in the preliminary
contacts with relevant suppliers and key partners regarding the organisation of the Award

Ceremony of the 2015 North-South Prize, in updating the guests’ mailing list and the briefing
note. In addition she also assisted in the drafting of correspondence regarding the call for
nominations for the 2016 North-South Award and in advertising the event through social media
in accordance with the corresponding communication plan.
Competences shown, skills and personal characteristics:
I was very satisfied with the performance of Ms. Georgieva during her traineeship at the North-
South Centre, who demonstrated efficiency in the tasks entrusted to her. I specially appreciated
her commitment, her sense of responsibility and initiative and her ability to work autonomously
and to easily adapt to an international working environment.
I also highlight the very positive feedback on the work of Ms. Georgieva received from
colleagues and partners about her professionalism.
