DRIVER?

The above poster shows the exercise that one has to be involved in as an F1 driver and
also the type of fruit he needs to take for a good physic and body fitness.
Formula one among all other athletes expects their driver to have the following qualities,
all drivers that get involved in formula one will have to undergo a certain type of training
4 | P a g e
in order to cope with the physical demands required in the sport. Among all other races
on earth no other races requires the strength and endurance that are needed in formula
1.
Take for instance the amount of heat in the cockpit, most especially when the round is
hot during the championship which also put stress on the driver’s body, the driver can
sweat so much and loose about 3kg of their body weight during the race. Which means
it is best for the drivers to take enough water, basically water is not a nutrient but the
body requires enough water in order to work properly. The water helps in lubricating our
joints and eyes, water aids digestion of foods taken, water controls the reaction of
chemicals in the body, water helps in getting rid of the waste in our system and water
helps also in regulating the body temperature.
The amount of strength the drivers has the more they can withstand fatigue during the
lapses and more concentration on the circuit. Most of those drivers always undergo a
cardio-vascular training before the start of the season and then place the exercise they
do around the result of their cardio-vascular in other to maintain their fitness levels all
through the year. Most of this exercises include running, swimming cycling and so on.
The drivers in formula one also do some training in order to save weight and they are
very careful of building too much muscles. Except in their neck area and chest area
because this area is the most targeted area. Exercise also include good sitting posture
which will help them in positioning them well when sitting in the car during the race or
when testing the car for example; the picture at the start of this project shows the rightful
exercise for a good posture.
The type of equipment used by formula one drivers cannot be seen in the conventional
gyms. Many of the drivers use specially designed “rigs” that helps them to purposely
develop muscles they need to withstand cornering forces, to the extent that the G-force
they undergo when entering a bend can make the head and the helmet weigh more like
five times of it actual weight and the neck must be able to support the two.
Formula 1 cars are fitted with power assisted steering, but the drivers need to have
strong arm muscles and a strong heart is also required of them for the car control during
every longer races. Also for the drivers to improve hand and eye coordination,
concentration and reaction time during the race, they will need to include all other forms
of activities into their own physical activities when training. A good training material is
the Batak reaction board.
The purpose of this is to hit the randomly-lit lights many times on a specially designed
bored in 60seconds as possible. One other important aspect that the F1 drivers has to
take a look at is the type of diet they have. The diet as to be a regulated one which is
not going to allow them put on more weight so as not to be an addition to their car
weight. Take for an example a pre-race meal that the drivers need to take before the
race might include a chicken or fish and vegetables which are all proteins, but most of
those drivers still love to eat some other carbohydrate rich foods like pastas as their pre-
race meal so that they can have energy.
EIGHT STEPS TO FITNESS.
1. Be committed to your goals. What this is saying is know what you
wanted to do as a goal and be committed to it, most of the kids in go-kart
5 | P a g e
circuit has the mind of coming into F1 but few of them could make it and the
few that made it are the ones that undergo a hard work and have the
determination to reach their goals.
2. Choose your fuel wisely. Been a professional athlete, the type of food
you eat and what you drink has got a lot to do with your performance. Drivers
needs to have their diets work on. Example of a balance diet the driver should
eat should be as follows; fruits and vegetables, bread potatoes and cereals,
meat, fish and nuts, foods containing fat and sugar, and dairy products also
more of fruits that would assist is boosting the performance of their body
systems like carrot and tomatoes and so on.
3. Keep your heart in check. Drivers are advised to have an effective
cardiovascular system which can enhance them not to get tired easily at any
point while the race is on. then drivers also do very tedious exercise that will
boost their heart beats.
4. Stay strong. Having a very good body shape, that the body have to strong
enough to withstand G-force and good stability in order to prevent injury.
5. Build neck strength. AS a professional driver the neck is very important,
this will help in the G-force when cornering and braking in the corner. So if the
neck is not very strong it will be difficult to position it properly and the driver will
lose concentration. Though there are other exercise for muscles, the chest,
the shoulder, mid back but will not only focus on just one.
6. Work on your reactions. As an F1 driver you need to be able to respond
to everything going on in the race track, that is, your nervous system must be
working well. You need to be able to see debris and be also be aware of other
cars in the track.
7. Be professional in all areas. Been professional as a driver means both
in the car and outside the car. Drivers are expected to have the same
understanding as the engineers, which will portray them as professionals.
They should be able to tell how the car feels during the race if there is any
fault on the car and the engineers will understand and make the necessary
corrections. Drivers should also be able to talk to the engineers on how to
make some certain changes so as to make the car perform better than the
other car during the race.
8. WELLNESS. As the training is important it is also important for drivers to
keep fit mentally with a sound mind just after the race by engaging into
activities like massages and flexibility training, good sleeps and also spend
good time with the family and friends. If one lacks sleep this would result in a
reduction in alertness and concentration with low energy level, this happens to
everyone not just the drivers alone. When one deprives himself with sleep this
could also result to exhaustion, hallucination and irritability. And also
excessive sleep can also result to tiredness, loss of alertness and also
problem with decision making.
