choosing, exploring a topic/medium you are passionate about. You will
make a final piece(s) employing the professional conventions of the

A large media corporation has moved its headquarters to York. They plan
to expand their organisation into the north of England and want a series of
products made by those who live there.
They have asked you to research existing products and the proposed
audience, then plan and produce a product(s).

RESEARCH Task 2
• What are you making? I am going to be creating a perfume brand and the
advertisements that will be going into the marketing of the product.
• Why? Because I believe that there is a lot of work that goes into designing
brands and therefore I have a lot of things to work with e.g. designing the
product, creating a billboard/magazine poster, and TV advert.
• Who is it for? The targeted audience is aimed at those with a personality
known as ‘the aspirer’ which means that they care a lot about ‘the finer
things in life’ e.g. materialistic, quality items (such as my perfume).
• Where will it appear/on what? My video advert will be accessible through
YouTube and the rest of my work will be accessible on my Wix site.

Schedule:
Week 1 – Plan and conduct a proposal for my FMP and initial plans.
Week 2 – Begin research and complete audience research form by researching previous
projects by high end brands to craft an idea of how I would like my brand to be
perceived and to reach its target audience.
Week 3 – Experiment on photoshop to complete practice research to see which editing
techniques work best.
Week 4 – Complete further research/ planning by gathering survey answers via a
questionnaire I will create to help me further in my production phase.
Week 5 – Begin production, starting with the magazine poster (with assistance with
photography etc.)
Week 6 – Edit the work I have thus far.
Week 7 – Film footage for my advert.
Week 8 – Edit the footage and finish the production
Week 9 – Complete evaluation
PRE-PRODUCTION Task 3
Risk Assessment:
Manual handling – carrying expensive equipment.
Electrical equipment, extension cables and plugs – could trip/ electric
shock.
Bright lights – could damage eyes.
Losing footage/work – must keep all work in a safe file so I know where I
can access it safely.
Budget:
Very low budget however I will be using an expensive camera and paying
for transport to locations where I may want to film.

Call Sheet:
On the day of photography for my poster I will need:
Hannah to help take photos, a nice dress, an open field setting and camera
On the day of filming the advert I will need:
My camera, an extra person to help hold the camera for filming, a nice
dress, my phone to play music, an open field/ woodlands setting, extra
batteries in case camera dies

- At Last by Etta James will be the only song used in my advert
as it matches the vibes of the video perfectly so that slow
motion clips wont look out of place because it is a slow paced
song.

Colour Palette inspiration:
These are screenshots from the Miss Dior by Dior perfume advert which was the main inspiration
for my own advert. I really like the light and feminine colours incorporated into the clips as it
perfectly reflects the aesthetic of the brand campaign which is romantic, feminine and freedom.
The slogan for the campaign is ‘What would you do for love’ hinting that the romantic pink
theme was intentional.
For my own project I will try to incorporate the same colour theme in order to give the same
effect to my target audience as Dior intended for their own. The green nature colour theme
throughout also presents the freedom that the model is displaying by running through the open
fields throughout the video.

This unit will allow you to build upon and demonstrate your creative skills, devising your own project. You will plan and produce a project of your choosing, exploring a topic/medium you are passionate about. They plan to expand their organisation into the north of England and want a series of products made by those who live there.   • 12. • What are you making? I am going to be creating a perfume brand and the advertisements that will be going into the marketing of the product. • Why? Because I believe that there is a lot of work that goes into designing brands and therefore I have a lot of things to work with e.g. designing the product, creating a billboard/magazine poster, and TV advert. • Who is it for? The targeted audience is aimed at those with a personality known as ‘the aspirer’ which means that they care a lot about ‘the finer things in life’ e.g. materialistic, quality items (such as my perfume). • Where will it appear/on what? My video advert will be accessible through YouTube and the rest of my work will be accessible on my Wix site. PRE-PRODUCTION Task 3
  • 13. PRE-PRODUCTION Task 3 Schedule: Week 1 – Plan and conduct a proposal for my FMP and initial plans. Week 2 – Begin research and complete audience research form by researching previous projects by high end brands to craft an idea of how I would like my brand to be perceived and to reach its target audience. Week 3 – Experiment on photoshop to complete practice research to see which editing techniques work best. Week 4 – Complete further research/ planning by gathering survey answers via a questionnaire I will create to help me further in my production phase. Week 5 – Begin production, starting with the magazine poster (with assistance with photography etc.) Week 6 – Edit the work I have thus far. Week 7 – Film footage for my advert. Week 8 – Edit the footage and finish the production Week 9 – Complete evaluation
  • 14. PRE-PRODUCTION Task 3 Risk Assessment: Manual handling – carrying expensive equipment. Electrical equipment, extension cables and plugs – could trip/ electric shock. Bright lights – could damage eyes. Losing footage/work – must keep all work in a safe file so I know where I can access it safely. Budget: Very low budget however I will be using an expensive camera and paying for transport to locations where I may want to film.

PRE-PRODUCTION Task 3 Equipment/Resource list: • Panasonic Lumix camera • Satin dress • Makeup • Car (for travel) Call Sheet: On the day of photography for my poster I will need: Hannah to help take photos, a nice dress, an open field setting and camera On the day of filming the advert I will need: My camera, an extra person to help hold the camera for filming, a nice dress, my phone to play music, an open field/ woodlands setting, extra batteries in case camera dies
  • 16. PRE-PRODUCTION Task 3 Music list: - At Last by Etta James will be the only song used in my advert as it matches the vibes of the video perfectly so that slow motion clips wont look out of place because it is a slow paced song. Location plan: - Flower field - Woods - River/stream
  • 17. PRE-PRODUCTION Task 3 Camera batteries may die Always carry backup batteries. May Rain Carry umbrella/ waterproof coat or improvise by including scenes in rain. Camera could break Carry backup and/or film on phone. No transport Could film somewhere close to my home and/or in my garden. Weather altercations Improvise or choose another day to film which is better suited and pick up on other work in the meantime. Contingency Plan

  • 19. PRE-PRODUCTION Task 3 Colour Palette inspiration: These are screenshots from the Miss Dior by Dior perfume advert which was the main inspiration for my own advert. I really like the light and feminine colours incorporated into the clips as it perfectly reflects the aesthetic of the brand campaign which is romantic, feminine and freedom. The slogan for the campaign is ‘What would you do for love’ hinting that the romantic pink theme was intentional. For my own project I will try to incorporate the same colour theme in order to give the same effect to my target audience as Dior intended for their own. The green nature colour theme throughout also presents the freedom that the model is displaying by running through the open fields throughout the video.
