Oliver Basson participated in an international field trip from June 26 to July 9, 2014 as part of his geography course. The field trip was a joint program between the University of Western Australia and the University of Plymouth in the UK. The trip visited locations in Seattle, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho to study environmental processes, regional development, land management, and urban geography. Students completed an independent research project in rural Oregon to build their geography and planning skills and gain a comparative perspective to their Australian experiences.

Participation in North American Field Trip
This is to confirm that Oliver Basson participated in the unit International Fieldwork in
Geography (EART2202) and as part of this undertook the ‘Changing American West’ field
trip between the 26 June and 9 July 2014.
This field course was undertaken jointly with the University of Plymouth (UK) and
commenced in Seattle before visiting a number of locations in Washington, Oregon and
Idaho. The trip covered a number of themes, including environmental processes, regional
development and planning, land management and urban geography.
The trip was used to build core knowledge and skills in geography and planning, and to
offer a comparative perspective on their Australian experiences. In addition, students
completed an independent research project in rural Oregon related to regional development.
