What is Attribution in Google Analytics and Google Adwords?
It is not as complicated as you think, it is very simple way of understanding the users who are coming
in to your website, but the catch is how do you give credit or to whom do you give credit for getting a
user on your website?
We do know that there are several ways of users flowing into our website, user can visit our site using
direct search, or keywords based search, google ads, social media ads, 3rd party links or blogs many
are there isn’t it!
So what Google has introduced is a proper model (analytics) to give credit to the source who are
giving you the user. For instance, you run google ads, a user clicks on your ad and land on to your
website, now user doesn’t take any decision on your site (consider any call to action) but user do
come and visit your site after 7 days, and make a purchase (CTA).
So far Google analytics understand the above user is a Organic visitor but in actual the user was from
Google ads lead, hence now to avoid such wrong credits Google has introduced the Attribution Model.
So lets understand how to set up Attribution in Google Analytics which can improve the overall
reporting system.

Google Analytics or
by simply
searching in
Google Search
Engine, you need
to have Google
Analytics account
connect with your
website.
This would be your first step!
This is the selected conversion, based on your website
you could always select the relevant conversion.
As you can read here on the slide,
you need to wait until google
connects and collects all the data
and check the attribution.
