Summary of Experience
A dedicated health professional with more than fifteen years of experience in health, both clinical and
public health. During the more than ten years of work in the health field has undertaken various
managerial positions in the Government (Ministry of Health) at Provincial and Central level. At
provincial level was responsible for the overall management of health issues in the second biggest city
in the northern part of the country as well as practicing clinical work. At central level worked in areas
related to HIV/AIDS and Immunization. Following the referred period joined the UN System, specifically
UNFPA, where has worked in the area of HIV, Gender and Human Rights with a focus in adolescent and
young people. During the referred period gained considerable experience in management, planning,
implementation and monitoring/evaluation with a focus on HIV/AIDS. Currently is working for the
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the area of HIV prevention as HIV
project management specialist, focusing on Biomedical Prevention. All of the work experience has
involved working within a team-based culture. This involved planning, organization, coordination and
strong commitment.

Work History
United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Maputo - May 2013 - present
• Representing the Agreements Office (OAA) of USAID successfully managed a cooperative agreement for
the largets USAID HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment project with a budget over 100 Million USD, helping to
put more than 500.000 people on ART treatment;
• Effectively provided technical leadership to the Integrated Health Office (IHO) of USAID, for the USAID
supported Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention portfolio in Manica and Tete
Provinces. This support has resulted in around 50.000 procedures being provided to man aged 10 to
49 years with excellent safety and quality record. In addition has provided support in service delivery,
and laboratory aspects of voluntary medical male circumcision, PEP, and HIV counseling and testing;
• Successfully managed a Grant with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for HIV/AIDS and
Gender Based Violence (BGV) prevention in the police force. The project consisted in capacity building
of young recruits in HIV prevention and GBV in Matalane and ACIPOL Police Academy. Around 3000
young police officers have benefited from the referred project;
• Provided strategic technical direction and contributed to preparation of strategy updates, program area
analysis, presentations, and briefing materials in various areas of HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment and
Prevention;
• Through participation in the HIV Prevention, HIV Care and Treatment, Health System Strengthening
Interagency Technical Working Groups (both in-country and US-based), helped ensure that USG
resources were effectively coordinated and optimally used to achieve PEPFAR Mozambique goals and
objectives;
United Nations Fund for the Population (UNFPA), Maputo - May 2011 - 2013
• Identified opportunities for UNFPA engagement in HIV policy development and programming (within
the framework of the UNFPA Strategy on HIV and AIDS, national strategies, and the UNAIDS division of
labor). Facilitated the process of strategic planning within UNFPA for engagement in these
opportunities;
• Represented UNFPA in appropriate coordination forums, such as the UN Joint Teams on HIV and AIDS,
inter-agency meetings and thematic meetings;
• Develop and maintained partner relations with the Ministry of Health, the National HIV and AIDS
Council (NAC), national bodies and development partners, including civil society organizations
providing technical guidance and guidelines for further development of their capacities and activities;
• Worked in resource mobilization for further UNFPA programming on HIV and AIDS;
• Provide technical support to the Ministry of Health and NAC in accessing funding for HIV prevention
response, participating to this end in UN Joint Team on HIV and AIDS and joint UNAIDS missions;
• Was involved in country-level advocacy activities to advance use of the evidence and strengthen joint
UN and national responses to HIV and AIDS;
• Supported the monitoring, evaluation and reporting on UNFPA´s work on HIV and AIDS;
