2. What is C?
C is a programming language that developed at
AT&T(American Telephone and Telegraph) Bell Labs of USA
in 1972.
It was designed and written by man named Dennis Ritchie.
C is high level programming language.
C is highly portable language.
3. Why Use C?
C is initially used as a system development work, in
particularly the programs make-up of the operating system.
C adopted as a system development language because of it
produce code that nearly fast as the code written in assembly
language.
We use C because it is reliable sample and easy to use.
C is general purpose language because of it popularity with
programmer.
4. Some examples of uses of c might be:
Operating system
Language complier
Language interpreter
Assemblers
Text editor
Print spoolers
Network drivers
Modern program
Data bases
Utilities
5. History of C?
C evolved from a language called B.
B written by Ken Thompson at Bell Labs in 1970.
Ken Thompson used B to write one of the first
implementation of UNIX.
B evolved from a language BCPL developed at Cambridge
UK in 1967.
Many instruction removed from BCPL to B that Dennis
Ritchie developed C language at Bell labs USA in 1972.
Dennis Ritchie known as founder of C language.
It was developed to be used in UNIX operating system.
6. The famous book “The C programming Language” was
written by Kernighan and Ritchie in 1978, and was the
definite reference book on c.
In 1983, the American National Standard Institute (ANSI)
established a committee to provide a modern comprehensive
definition of c.
The resulting definition, the ANSI C was completed late 1988.
