Where to record: For those on a strict budget, under a blanket (the issue with a blanket is that the space between the mic and cloth is minimal, and can cause echoing (though minimal echoes)) or in a car are viable options (a car is designed to minimize exterior noise). A closet with some acoustic foam (the amount in the image above is not necessary, clothes will do well to minimize noice as well)
Audacity is a free open source DAW that is great for Mac and Windows Users. Ferrite is great for those who are using an IOS device to record audio on the go (though you will want to use a Lighting to USB A adapter to use a USB or XLR mic.)
There are many video editors, I personally recommend hit film as the free version is a fantastic editor and compositor, while the pro version ($350) is a single charge, not a subscription model. (Also note most tools found in the pro version can be purchased in the HitFilm store for $15-$100)
