2. Electricity
• Electricity is a kind of energy which menifests
itself by attraction,repulsion and produces
light,heat,chemical decomposition and many
other phenomena.
• The flow of electron is called elctric current.
• Electricity can be divided as static electricity
and current electricity.
3. Static electricity
• When a certain substances are rubbed by certain
materials the property of attracting light objects
like pieces of paper, thread or cotton develops
• Vulcanite rod rubbed with fur has this property
so also combing hair with some synthetic comb
produces the attrecting properties
• A substance which has this property is called to
electrified or charged with electricity and this
electricity is called static electricity
4. • The build up of an electric charge on the
surface of an object.
• The charge builds up but does not flow.
• Static electricity is potential energy. It does not
move. It is stored.
5. Static dishcharge…
• Occurs when there is a loss of static
electricity due to three possible
things:
•Friction - rubbing
•Conduction – direct contact
•Induction – through an electrical
field (not direct contact)
6. Current electricity
• Flow of electron is called electric current.
• The flow occurs through a conducter.
• Current: The flow of electrons from one place
to another.
• Measured in amperes (amps)
7. There are two types of current ..
• Direct current (DC)
– Where electrons flow in the same direction
in a wire.
9. Coulomb’s law
• Electrical force is directly proportional to the
product of the electrical charges and inversely
proportional to the square of the distance
• This is known as coulmb’s law.
10. • F is the electrical force.
• K = constatant.
• q1 = electrical charge of object 1.
• q2 =electrical charge of object 2.
• d = distance b/w two objects.
11. There are two type of circuit
1.Series Circuit:
• the components are lined up along one path.
If the circuit is broken, all components turn
off.
13. Parallel circuit
2.Parallel Circuit –
• there are several branching paths to the
components. If the circuit is broken at any one
branch, only the components on that branch
will turn off.
