Tom’s Diner Lyrics

I am sitting Their hellos Really see me
In the morning Cause she sees
At the diner I'm pretending Her own reflection
On the corner Not to see them
                      And Instead And I'm trying
I am waiting I pour the milk Not to notice
At the counter That she's hitching
For the man I open Up her skirt
To pour the coffee Up the paper
                      There's a story And while she's
And he fills it Of an actor Straightening her stockings
Only halfway Her hair
And before Who had died Is getting wet
I even argue While he was drinking
He was no one Oh, this rain
He is looking I had heard of It will continue
Out the window Through the morning
At somebody And I'm turning As I'm listening
Coming in To the horoscope
                      And looking To the bells
"It is always For the funnies Of the cathedral
Nice to see you" I am thinking
Says the man When I'm feeling Of your voice...
Behind the counter Someone watching me
And so And of the midnight picnic
To the woman I raise my head Once upon a time
Who has come in Before the rain began...
She is shaking There's a woman
Her umbrella On the outside I finish up my coffee
Looking inside It's time to catch
And I look Does she see me?
The other way
As they are kissing No she does not
