Chapter 10

1. Chapter 10 – The Move Tutor Box
I sprinted over to Aipom, desperate to help him. I swung my bag off, dropped it on the floor and pulled
out the Potion I had bought in Cherrygrove. I sprayed it on Aipom’s wound, Aipom slowly opened his
eyes but it was still weak and blood was still dripping out. I pulled a spare t-shirt out of the bag, tore a
strip off and wrapped it tightly around the dripping cut. I lifted him up and looked around desperate to
find a way out of the woods; I had to get to a Pokémon Centre. I noticed my Kakuna was still lying in
the middle of the clearing so I quickly returned it to its Pokéball. It had been a bittersweet victory.
There were three ways out of the clearing; at least one of them must take us to Violet City. I took a
random guess and ran down the path to my right. I ran for 10 minutes and the tress didn’t even start
to thin out. I heard a rustling to my left; something was hiding in the trees. I glanced over but saw
nothing out of the usual, I turned back to carry on my way when something touched my shoulder. I
spun round in shock and there it was, the Pokémon Centre. I didn’t understand it, one moment I was
running through the woods, the next I was back in Violet City the last thing I saw was a something
white on my shoulder. I didn’t have time to think about it now; I had to get Aipom help. I threw open
the doors of the Centre and ran round the small line of trainers also looking for help but none of them
could have been as severe as Aipom’s injury. At first Nurse Joy looked annoyed at my rudeness but it
was gone almost instantly when she saw Aipom in my arms. She lifted him up and ran through a door
behind her, I knew she wouldn’t allow me in but I tried anyway. I was stopped by Chansey who
blocked my way. It was pointless; I turned away and saw James running up to me.
“What happened last night?” He asked I heard the annoyance in his voice.
“Sorry, me and Aipom got lost. We slept in the woods” I replied, miserably.
“Where’s Aipom now?” He was looking over my shoulder as if he was hiding behind me.
“We got into a fight with that trainer I told you about. And his Totodile”
“Oh, you lost then?”
“Oh no, we beat him” and I told him what had happened that morning.
We were waiting for nearly an hour until Nurse Joy came to use with news. “Aipom was in a bad state,
he has lost a lot of blood but he should be fine. He just needs a good rest.”
I gave out a huge sigh which felt like I had been holding in for hours. It was going to be OK. “Thank you
so much. Could I go and see him?”
Nurse Joy nodded and lead me through a set of double doors and then through another door where
Aipom was, lying on a bed sleeping. I could see a wide bandage covering the wound on his tail. I
stepped over to him and he opened his eyes as if he sensed me coming. I pulled a chair up next to the
bed and sat next to the monkey as he fell back to sleep.

2. The next morning, Aipom was as good as ever, if not better. We were told to leave the bandage on and
to take it easy for the day. We met up with James who had spent the night in the Pokémon Centre
again and we decided to go and visit Sprout Tower but first, James said he had a present for Aipom.
“Take it as a ‘Get Well Soon’ gift” He put his hand into his bag and lifted a small box with the letters ‘IP’
on the front. He handed the box to Aipom who shook it violently, no sound came from inside. Aipom
looked up and me and James, confused. I was feeling just as confused as he looked.
“What is it?
“Oh, sorry, it’s called a ‘Move Tutor Box’ I found it when I was out looking for you yesterday. Basically,
you open it and, if it works, Aipom will learn a new move. I tried it on Pidgey but nothing happened so
I thought Aipom could try it out.”
“Cool! Go for it Aipom!” Aipom pulled the lid off the box and peered inside. A flash of yellow light
shone out of the box, covering Aipom. The light faded and the box was gone. Aipom glowed slightly
around the edge just like Totodile did when it learnt Bite. I knew Aipom had just learnt a new move.
“What move was it?”
“Well the box says ‘IP’ which I worked out must mean Ice Punch. If it is, that’s gonna be very useful
against Falkner. Flying Pokémon have a huge weakness to ice type moves”
I grinned and looked at Aipom. “Did you hear that Aipom? You just learnt Ice Punch!” Aipom jumped
up and started punching the air in excitement. “Come on, lets go try it out” Me and Aipom started
towards the door but found Chansey blocking our way. “Oh yeah, I forgot, we’re meant to be taking it
easy.” Me and Aipom turned back towards James who was waiting for us as if he knew what was going
to happen. We flopped down into a chair, Ice Punch would have to wait until tomorrow.
