This digital portfolio is based on my learning journey throughout my diploma course so far. It has my experiences with class assignments, some freelance works and my internship experience at VMLY&R Malaysia.
2. Thank you for taking your time to look at my Digital Portfolio.
This Digital Portfolio is a collection of my works and experiences

My passion is in cinematography or visual storytelling.
During my younger years, I remember how shows and
movies managed to mesmerise and capture me with their stories.
Its amazing how the stories of that I have not experience managed
to invoke my emotions and also changing my perspective of things.
Therefore, I also one day hope that my videos or films can one day
inspire others like how the shows that I watched influenced me.

A Little More About Me
7. I always wanted to try out photography and I finally got the opportunity through the
photography class in Saito University College. All of the pictures you see in this section
are all street-photographs.
Streetphotography
Early 2017
The learning process was
definitely fun and very
eye opening.
Learning how to use sunlight,
and ambient light. Learning when
to underexpose my subject to get
the most dynamic range out of a
shot and how to adjust the shutter
speed, ISO and aperture.
Photography
8. Before After
I am currently practicing
some street photography
during my free time and
honestly I find it very
exciting and calming
(when I am editing the photos).
I think street-photography helps me improve my technical skills like framing, lighting
and composition which in turn be used when I direct or shoot videos.

10. I did my first video back when I was in Form 4 for the Leo Club of SMK Kepong Baru.
It was an interview-styled video and MY SKIN CRAWLS at the thought of watching it.
Yes, my equipment at that time was not ideal but on a technical stand point it could be
done so much better.
From properly focusing the camera, having composition in my shots,
correctly exposing the subject, setting the optimum lighting condition,
way to record the best audio possible, were some of the skills that I lacked at that time.
Videography
OLD NEW
11. With lessons from the videography class,
my technical skills have improved tremendously.
I now know how to frame my subjects properly,
set up decent lighting and recording usable audio.
However, there was a problem….
I was over ambitious. I wanted to shoot the entire
short film in a day (It was a solo project) which consists of
4 different locations which were pretty far from each other.
This made the entire shooting process really hectic and
really exhausting for me as time goes on. Low and
behold I had to reshoot some scenes T^T.

12. Some more scenes of my Videography Final
This is an eye opening experience for me, I realised the extend of my limits,
to put more time in planning my scenes (choosing locations that are closer together)
and to plan better schedules for shooting days (maybe spacing out more time) .
Hopefully these experiences will help me out when I start working in a production set.

13. Before
After
The assignment given to us as a class was to make a Music Video with the use of
green screen included in the video. Unfortunately, we were given a challenging and
a really old school song (atleast for us millenials), “Does Your Mother Know by Abba”.
This was also my first time to use a green screen and boy
did I underestimated the difficulty of using a green screen.
This led to a few reshoots of the green screen scenes,
thankfully they were only of the cast was the production
crew themselves (we did not have the budget to hire
more actors so the production crew were used as actors)
and some mishaps with the cast has definitely made this
experience challenging to say the least. However, we
managed to pull through and produce a music video
that we are proud of.
Digital Video Production
14. What I learnt throughout this subject?
Well, for starters I learned that group
chemistry and commitment is very important.
I am grateful for group members who were very
flexible and committed.

17. I did my first ever freelance work for a music band by the name of Plan B.
A bit of information on Plan B, they are a local Buddhist Music Band with
a passion to change how people view Buddhist music by using
modern genres of music like pop, rock and alternate.

18. Since it was my very first gig, things were not all sunshine and rainbows.
I was so excited to get the project started that I did not spend enough time planning
out my production schedule. For example, the lack of a shot list really
made it hard for me to determine which shots I have not shot since
during production everything was in a rush.....
For this project, I basically did everything
with the exclusion of the VFX towards
the end of the music video.
From pre-production (storyboarding),
production (directing, lighting, filming) to
post-production (editing and colour grading)

20. This was another freelance work where I had to
create visuals to accompany their live performance.
Well, a little bit on YKLS (Young Kuala Lumpur Singers),
they are a local performing arts group. They mainly do
singing performances. I made 2 visual videos for them.
(The pictures on this page shows the live performance
together with the videos I created)
Back to the freelance work, I had the opportunity to
learn Red Giant’s Trapcode Plugin for After Effects.
It was definitely a challenge as I was not very
proficient in After Effects and it was also my
first time using the plugin but with the
POWER OF YOUTUBE and loads of
trial and error. I was able to make
something I am proud of.

21. One thing that I learned from this experience
is that rendering takes WAY TOO LONG.
I made the mistake of rendering without
double checking for an errors beforehand.
For instance, one of my videos took 8 HOURS
to render and after the render I realised that
there were a few frames with some errors.
This made me check more thoroughly on
my work before I render it out so
I do not waste time when the
final render is not ideal.

23. I was given the opportunity to intern at an award-winning
digital marketing, advertising and transformation agency,
VMLY&R Malaysia. It was a hard but enjoyable 4 months
but I would not have want it any other way.
Being able to work with people of experience has really
increased my knowledge in crafting not only good but
great ideas and how to implement them in the best
possible way. I also learnt that not all designs have to
visually bombastic, sometimes simplicity is the best.
The best designs are the ones that communicate the
intended message best.
