Senior Executive’s Toolkit
In order to progress or operate effectively executive levels, leaders must rapidly expand their mindset and capabilities to deal with the challenges of
senior leadership and to perform as a strategic decision maker and influencer. Executive Officers seeking to break through to the next level of their
careers must refine, and in some cases redefine, their leadership style and people management skills in order to succeed.
Aspiring leaders who embrace an adaptive mindset will be able to inspire their followers to change their expectations, perceptions and motivations

organisations from within by influencing their colleagues and their own managers.
This course has been designed to upskill executive officers by examining the critical success points and providing practical tools and skills which will
ensure key outcomes. Participants will understand the attributes of executive level leaders, common causes of leadership challenges, gain mechanisms

Leading Self, Leading Others – Conscious development for effective and influential leaders
An Executive Officer is often called upon to be a proactive participant in a large number of complex working relationships, managing up and down the chain, called
upon to confidently communicate with and influence senior stakeholders across the organisation. Ensuring management decisions are made in a timely manner
and articulated correctly are job role obligations, yet having the inability to impose formal authority at the executive level can be a situation that often arises.
Despite being ideally positioned to influence a number of people on a daily basis, doing so with integrity is a different feat and critical to an Executive
Officer’s success. Gaining trust, listening intently, responding quickly, persuading easily and feeling empathetically toward others are all ways to
influence positively. Remaining authentic in nature when exercising such capabilities will ensure you remain an integral cog within the organisation and
establish firm leadership pathways.
An Executive Officer needs to be resilient in the face of complex and uncertain situations, sustained high pressure, and diverse interactions with others.
Maintaining composure, keeping a clear head, and sustaining energy are all crucial capabilities to develop, in service of our professional and personal
mission, vision and values.
This full-day workshop will explore:
Freedom and responsibility in leadership
• A range of contemporary concepts and frames for leadership and followership roles
• Personal worth, power, and responsibility for our choices
Effectiveness and influence
• Harnessing conscious communication for structured enquiry and feedback
• Modelling of leadership behaviours to engage, influence and empower others
Wellbeing and energy
• Heightened emotional intelligence, based in self-awareness and respectful relationships
• Enhanced effectiveness through mindful practice (anywhere, any time)
Authenticity and resilience
• Enduring authenticity and resilience based in acceptance and self-compassion, values-based action
• Reflective practice and self-care
Continuing development
• Personal planning to design and embrace changes
• Achieving ‘success beyond success’ (a conscious development path)

BACKGROUND
Executive Officers sit at the heart of operational success across a wide range of Public Sector and Higher Education departments and institutions.
Often acting as a business partner to senior management, Executive Officers serve as a vital component of any office or institution, heavily invested in
stages of planning, execution and implementation of strategy that can radically impact the culture and operational efficiencies of an entire organisation.
To meet the great variety of demands in an increasingly challenging landscape, a successful Executive Officer must bring a broad range of specialist
skills to the table and step up as everything from administrator, communications expert, negotiator, influencer and, ultimately, a leader.
Despite a considerable ground of shared experience, an Executive Officer’s exact role differs from department to department, and so often the
actual scope and expectations exist as an unspoken arrangement. Organisational change is one force actively reshaping the remit of Executive
Officers in their many forms and functions. This three-day Intensive is designed to equip Executive Officers with the knowledge and practical tools
necessary to develop as leaders of change and expert influencers in their organisation, targeting critical skills including conscious communication,
effective stakeholder engagement, mindfulness and strategies to build trust and influence with staff and senior management alike.

Step Up to the Next Level – Embracing Leadership, Influence and Persuasion
Whether you’re dealing with Public Sector or Higher Education, Executive Officers across the board face an increasingly competitive and uncertain
working environment. Understanding the complex matrix of expectations and responsibilities has never been more critical, as opportunities arise
for aspiring Executive Officers to inhabit more and more central management and leadership roles. But when it comes to learning how to effectively
achieve influence and strategically engage both staff and management, understanding the obstacles can be just as important as knowing the tools.
The more time-poor we all are, the shorter our attention spans seem to become. How do you achieve cut through in an environment of information
overload and pitch your message in a team of diverse personalities, backgrounds and cultural frameworks? How do you act as an influencer without
direct authority? Successful leaders maximise their personal effectiveness through workload prioritisation, time-based strategy and developing their
skills of persuasion and engagement to make the best impact with the limited time available.
This intensive full-day workshop unlocks the tools you need to enhance your strategic communication skills and maximise your ability to shape
decisions and culture. Step beyond the basics in this hands-on workshop, as Geoff delivers a comprehensive deep-dive into the skills and strategies
for honing the negotiation and relationship-building expertise that will transform an Executive Officer into a networking expert, influencer and leader.

Geoff Kelly shows leaders how to package and promote their ideas so others actually act on them. This is all about deep-dive messaging, going
beyond identity and tagline to engage other in ideas important to the target group. This means that clients communicate less and differently; less,
because they hit their targets precisely and differently, because they resonate with more meaning, with more variety and with more credibility.
Geoff has held senior executive roles in major corporations including Coles Myer and WMC, and has been a member of the Management Committee
