1. PreliminaryTask Reflection
Thisis a continuitytaskthatshowsfilmingandeditingof the characteropeningadoor and walking
inwiththe camera inside the classroomandsittingdowninopposite anothercharacter.Theyhave
to exchange fewlinesof dialogue.Thisshoulddemonstrate matchonaction,shot/reverseandthe
180-degree rule.
We were givenabout2 hoursto practise withthe camera,so that we meetthe criteriaof the task,
whichislistedabove.Afterwards,asagroup we had to come up withthe taskscenariowe listed
about10 ideasina brainstormanddiscussedwhichscenariowill be the besttofilm. Fromthe 10
scenarioswe came up,we reduceditto the bestthree whichwere counselling,relationship
problemsandfirsttime meetingsomeone.We discussedonwhatdialogue canbe exchanged
betweenone anotherandwhatthe conceptshouldbe basedon.However,whenwe watched
examplesof otherstudentPreliminaryTaskandrelationshipproblemswasone of the topscenarios
used. Furthermore,firsttime meetingwasquite adifficultscenarioasthe conversationbetweenthe
twocharacters may create an awkwardatmosphere.So,we fixedonthe ideaof counselling,whichI
came upwithand thenwe had to come up witha theme onwhatwe will talkabout.Thabassom
came upwithan ideato talkabout a studentbeing bulliedinschool;we then, hadtocome up with
fewdialogueswhichIandGabrielle willexchangetoone another.
I playedthe studentandduringfilmingIkeptonlookingintothe camerabecause Ifelt
uncomfortable infrontof the camera.However,Gabrielle isaformerPerformingArtsstudent,so
she was confidentinfrontof the cameraand managedto playherrole as a teacherwell.
