This document compares solutions, suspensions, and colloids. A solution is a homogeneous mixture of molecules or ions distributed evenly throughout. A colloid is a heterogeneous mixture of tiny particles dispersed in a medium. A suspension is also a heterogeneous mixture containing particles large enough to be seen that are distinct from the surrounding fluid.
