1. Incidental Music Ideas
On the following pages I have found five
previous of pieces of music that could be used
in my trailer. They are all similar in the way they
build throughout and they all sound similar,
containing similar instruments.

‘Striving Forwards’
I really feel that this clip would suite my drama genre as it feels
throughout he incidental music that a story is progressing. The
beginning of the clip begins softly and the build up through the
piece is really effective showing rise and fall. If I were to edit the
volume up and down I could bring the tension up when
necessary in my storyboard. However there is a climax ending in
this piece which is helpful within my narrative drama. The
constant drum throughout makes the piece fluid and at the same
time the guitar brings effective peeks in the music.

‘The Story Unfolds’
I think the beginning of this clip is the most effective section, showing a
gradual build of sound. The music itself displays drama which is what my
genre is however I feel it also is quite an emotional and almost sad piece
of music which I feel is not as relevant to my narrative. This piece is very
constant in the way that only the end shows a final climax and the journey
to the climax is long, dragging a little. The piece feels classical due to the
instruments involved making me think it does not sound current enough.
The end builds with a climax which would work with my narrative having a
climax at the end however the clip takes a long time to get to this point.

‘There's A Feeling’
The beginning of this piece interested me as it is different to the
majority I looked at however overall this piece doesn't’t feel very
relevant to my drama narrative. The beginning build works nicely
with some different sound effects added which were interesting
however there was no feeling portrayed in this sound clip which let
the whole sound track down. I do like sections of this clip however
overall I feel it is not strong enough as a incidental music clip.

‘Minute By Minute’
The beginning of this piece is soft and contains only the piano
however this quickly builds to a more pacey section which contains
a guitar piece along with the piano. The build is dramatic which
suites my genre and my narrative however the piece is not upbeat
enough to show clear rises and falls. A story an definitely be seen
throughout the piece however I feel the story in the music is not
the same as my narrative. I feel the clip is relevant but not upbeat
or exciting enough and the ending shows this as it has a fade out
and not a climax which is what I'm looking for.

‘Above The Clouds’
I feel that this piece works really well with my narrative and my
planning of incidental music. There is an effective build up of
sound in the beginning of the piece and the upbeat feeling of the
piece continues throughout the clip. I feel this piece would suite
my older teen and young adult target audience as the music
sounds like a current band. There are effective rises and falls
throughout. Concluding the clip is an effective break with a
climaxing ending which is what I am looking for to suite my
narrative and works with my cliff hanger ending.
