“A search engine is a software program that helps people find
the information they are looking for online using keywords or
phrases. Search engines are able to return results quickly—
even with millions of websites online—by scanning the Internet
continuously and indexing every page they find”.
There are three basic steps a search engine takes
when searching for content:
crawling,
indexing,
and ranking.
lets see these steps one by one:
Step 1 - Crawling: Crawling is when the search engine spiders
or crawlers browse the web to identify and capture available
content.
Step 2 - Indexing: Indexing is where online content is
analyzed, organized, and stored in huge databases, so that
users can search it efficiently.
Step 3 – Retrieval or Ranking: Ranking is the position where
online content appears in the Search Engine Results Page
(SERP) based on a specific user query.
Google algorithms are a complex system used to
retrive data from its search index and deliever the
best possible results for a query.
Panda (quality of
content )
Google panda is major change
that occures in Feb2011. It aims
to lower the rank of ‘low quality
sites’ or ‘thin sites’ and return
‘high quality sites’ near the search
results.
penguine(backlinks/
spamming)
This algorithm introduced in
2012 nand intended to
reduce the spmmaning
practices. it penalized the
links of low quality as this is a
form of spam.
HummingBird
(relevancy of query
and context)
Its nama was derieved from the
speed and accuracy of
hummingbird. it was introduced
in 2013 and was capable of
making relationship between
keywords. This provide more
relevant results rather than just
matching words with highly
trusted websites.
Rankbrain(2015)
RankBrain is a machine learning (AI)
algorithm that Google uses to sort the
search results. It also helps Google
process and understand search
queries.
It is a learning base algorithm that
helps to process search results and
provide more relevant results.
Page experience
update (2021)
It aims to priortize websites
that provide a good user
experience to visitors. The page
experience signal measures
aspects of how users perceive
the experience of interacting
with a web page
Google Ranking
Algorithm (1998)
GoogleRank (GR) is an algorithm used
by Google Search to rank web pages
in their search engine results. It is
named after both the term "web page"
and co-founder Larry Page. PageRank
is a way of measuring the importance
of website pages.

On-page S.E.O
Off-page SEO includes activities done off of a website in an effort
to increase the site’s search engine rankings. Common off-page
SEO actions include building backlinks, encouraging branded

media.Off-Page SEO plays a vital role in helping the google
ranking of the content and increase in the number of visitors to
the various websites.
