Top agent Nancy Batchelor is a marketing genius. She
knows that it takes more than a glossy brochure to earn
the trust of both sophisticated sellers and discerning
buyers. Whether staging a waterfront home to showcase its
unique features or transporting those who want to view it aboard
her Intrepid 35, Batchelor understands the importance of making a
positive impression. After all, she counts discriminating celebrities
and CEOs among those to whom she sells luxury properties in
the Beaches and a wide range of other exclusive neighborhoods.
But her true marketing talent is her ability to offer clients the kind
of lifestyle and community insights that only someone who really
knows this city can.
Having grown up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where her
family owned a real estate company and full-service marina,
Batchelor worked as a Macy’s assistant buyer after graduating
from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in advertising. She later
became one of South Beach’s first Yacht brokers during its renewal
in the early 1980s as the founder of Florida Yacht Charter & Sales
with offices in Miami, Key West and the Bahamas. Batchelor soon
realized that her yacht customers were often searching for a home,
too, so she acquired her real estate license and sold properties
to them on referral. “For me, boating and real estate have always
gone together,” she says. Batchelor is an active member of the
Coral Reef Yacht Club, Ocean Reef Club, and knows the waterfront
neighborhoods to further help her clients.
Batchelor and her family relocated to Aspen, Colorado
in 1999 where she served as an assistant to leading luxury home
broker Carole Dopkin. She learned every aspect of the business,
from writing sales copy to putting up signs to negotiating leases.
Her return to Miami Beach, 15 years ago, reconnected her to EWM
International, a Christie’s International- and a Luxury Portfolio-
affiliated company. Today, Nancy Batchelor’s Team ranks third
within EWM with $108.5 million in sales in 2014, which consists of
experienced multi-national licensed sales and marketing experts.
Her team also boasts the most transactions within EWM Miami
Beach in 2014, further securing Batchelor’s perennial membership
in the EWM Chairman’s Club Diamond Level (as among the
company’s top 1 percent of producers nationwide) and Master
Broker’s Forum.
A horse enthusiast who rides as often as she can,
Batchelor easily identifies parallels between her hobby and
her profession. “You’re a team with the horse and you have to
communicate and work together,” she points out. “It can be a
humbling experience because it keeps you grounded.” Riding also
helps her stay physically fit, which she says is critical to maintain
the demanding pace of the industry. “I love Miami’s diversity and I’m
a big fan of the city, so it’s easy to sell it,” she explains, adding that
she and her family give back to the Miami through The Batchelor
Foundation. “Real estate is a great profession if you have a strong
work ethic. My clients like that I’m energetic and enthusiastic, but
I love the unique properties I market and I love people. That’s why
our agency’s motto is ‘We’re not No. 1 – You Are!’”
