We searched for keyword “mobile phones under 15000” and result are showing up which can be seen
below. Please do the exercise.
Here as an user we are searching for mobile phone but our budget is 15000 only so we searched for that
specific term and hence it can termed as a keyword.
Keywords types:
Long tail Keyword
Short tail keyword
Long tail keyword: This type of keywords can be easily ranked and are more likely to give conversions.
They are specific to user requirement. An example would “best mobile phone under 25000 in india”

Short tail keywords: This keywords are more generic in nature and takes time to rank. Let us look at an
example. We would search “Best Mobile phone”. Please do the exercise.
The result shown for the types would be different. The chance of making an sale is higher in case of long
tail as user is specific about the thing he wants to purchase alongwith budget whereas in case of short
tail it might be random search looking for information.
TIP: Whenever we start a SEO Campaign or Digital marketing Campaign go with Longtail keywords as it
would require less time and result will come up faster.

What is SEO, ON page, OFF page techniques and How to do SEO of a website?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
For understanding Search Engine Optimization we need to first understand what Search Engines are.
Search engines are programs built by companies like Google, Yahoo and Bing. They are directories which
hold data related to different websites or blog in there system with related information of different
niche.
The most popular search engine as we know is Google.
Let us dig deep into how Google works?

This organic result’s which are not paid comes under SEO or Search Engine optimization section of

TIP: A rule which is needed to be followed is to make good content. If your content is good and easily

Local SEO: It is done for business located locally.

are achieved through local seo strategy. For that you need to register your business on Google my
business page and then Google would send an verification code to verify your business and link your
website or blog page to Google so whenever someone searches query similar to your service your
website or page can be visible. Recommended is to have a website or Facebook page to share content as
said earlier content is the king. So writing and sharing good content would definitely rank your page.
SEO or Generic SEO: For generic terms or keywords
SEO or Generic SEO is type of seo which takes time and effort. You have to build backlinks from high
domain authority websites and also your domain age defines the ranking. An example of a Generic SEO

like an article related to cars, Wikipedia page, videos, local car dealer’s information and more. Since it is
generic terms we can see that Google ads are not showing up as it is generic term and articles are giving
a user results related to cars.

Video SEO: For Videos ranking
Video SEO is great technique if used properly can bring abundance of traffic to our website. Now a day’s
Google gives preference to YouTube videos. YouTube has greatest traffic on the internet after Google. It
is recommended to create a channel and upload videos on YouTube on regular basis. Always mention
your website and keywords in the video title and description so that it can be easily searched and
viewed upon. It is recommended to have short videos which are less than 10 mins duration with
interesting content related to your product or services.

SEO Parts:
SEO is divided into 2 parts:
ON Page
OFF Page
ON page is defined as changes done to website pages for optimization. ON page is very important, if you
do proper ON page SEO you have won 60% of SEO battle and definitely your website would rank higher
in search engine.
ON Page helps search engine understand what the website is and what it speaks about.
ON Page have 3 parameters:
Title
Description
Keywords
Title: As name suggest it is title of the web page of your website. Each page should have different title
and always make use of your primary keyword in the title of your webpage. Let us look at an example.

As you can see in the above screen. The company is into software development and has software named
as Fixed Asset Management software. Here in the page title they have used their keyword as “Fixed
Asset Management, Asset Tracking, Depreciation Software System in India”.
Title is to written this way in the header section of the webpage.

The title clearly is visible and indicates the search engine that the page is about fixed asset software. In
the above case if someone searches for fixed asset management, fixed asset software India, fixed asset
depreciation India or any it will show this page as result as it answers the user query.
Tile length should be 55 to 60 characters. It should clearly specify your keywords in sentencing format.
Tip: Never stuff keywords in title section of your page, will never rank as it is considered spamming and
Google will penalize your website.
Description:
Description should always be unique and should contain keywords. Each page of website should have
different description. Ideal Description should contain 120 to 125 characters.

The description contains a combination of different keywords like fixed asset management software
Mumbai, india, cheque printing software Mumbai and other. But they are not stuffed but are written in
sentence format for user and search engine to easily understand when results appears on the page.
Description is to written this way in the header section of the webpage.

You can use different keywords in title and description of same page this helps in ranking same page for
different keywords.
Keywords: As we have learnt earlier about keywords research same keywords can be used for
mentioning keywords on a webpage.
Keyword density should not be more than 4%. Always use 5 to 7 keywords on a webpage.

which this page ranks.
Tip: Google doesn’t give importance to keywords whereas other search engine like Yahoo, Bing etc still
consider keywords as one of the ranking factor.
NOTE:
Title: Limit 55 to 60 characters
Description: Limit 120 to 125 characters
Keywords density: Not to be more than 4% on a page
Mention only 5 to 7 keywords on a page for ideal SEO.
Google Webmasters:
Google Webmaster Tools is a free service that helps you evaluate and maintain your website's
performance in search results. Offered as a free service to anyone who owns a website, Google
Webmaster Tools (GWT) is a conduit of information from the largest search engine in the world to you,
offering insights into how it sees your website and helping you uncover issues that need fixing.
You do not need to use GWT for your website to appear in search results, but it can offer you valuable
information that can help with your marketing efforts.

Robots.txt file creation:
A robots.txt file is a file at the root of your site that indicates those parts of your site you don’t want
accessed by search engine crawlers. The file uses the Robots Exclusion Standard, which is a protocol
with a small set of commands that can be used to indicate access to your site by section and by specific
kinds of web crawlers (such as mobile crawlers vs desktop crawlers).
Sample robot.txt
A robots.txt file consists of one or more rules. Each rule blocks (or or allows) access for a given crawler
to a specified file path in that website.
Here is a simple robots.txt file with two rules, explained below:
User-agent: *
Allow: /
Disallow:/___________(write webpage url which is not to be searched)
Always name the file as robots.txt and use a text document. It needs to be uploaded to your web server
where website pages are uploaded for hosting.
Open a text file and copy the above code and paste it and save the file as robots.txt.

Sitemaps:
A sitemap is a file where you can list the web pages of your site to tell Google and other search engines
about the organization of your site content. Search engine web crawlers like Googlebot read this file to
more intelligently crawl your site.
Also, your sitemap can provide valuable metadata associated with the pages you list in that sitemap:
Metadata is information about a webpage, such as when the page was last updated, how often the page
is changed, and the importance of the page relative to other URLs in the site.
You can use a sitemap to provide Google with metadata about specific types of content on your pages,
including video and image content. For example, you can give Google the information about video and
image content:
A sitemap video entry can specify the video running time, category, and age appropriateness
rating.
A sitemap image entry can include the image subject matter, type, and license.
Sitemaps are created to let search engines know about all pages of our website.
