What Is Axillary Hyperhidrosis_
1. What Is Axillary Hyperhidrosis?
Excessive sweating often occur in the hands (palmar hyperhidrosis), the armpits (axillary
hyperhidrosis), or the feet (plantar hyperhidrosis). Axillary Hyperhidrosis is the correct medical term
for excessive sweating from the armpits. When suffering from axillary hyperhidrosis, excessive
sweating from the underarm area occurs, resulting in wet marks and staining clothes.
This type of sweating is embarrassing for those who suffer with it and the condition often lead people
to avoid social situations. Also, sweating a lot tend to effect the professional lives because the
embarrassment of wet underarms make people avoid work situations where their sweating condition
may be displayed.
The two most common types of hyperhidrosis are sweaty palms, or palmar hyperhidrosis, and
excessive underarm sweating, also known as axillary hyperhidrosis. Axillary Hyperhidrosis, excessive
sweating in the armpits, very often results in embarrassing wet marks on shirts.
A problem with a part of the nervous system that controls sweating may also result in excessive
sweating. The very basic explanation for excessive sweating is that a segment of the sympathetic
nervous system is responsible for this presentation. Although no one knows why some individuals
sweat excessively, it is understood that the sweating is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system.
Hyperhidrosis is a condition where there is an excessive amount of sweating that sometimes affects
the entire body. Excessive sweating is different from person to person and can occur in particular
parts of the body or throughout the entire body, but in general hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating
occurs over the entire body.
Essential or primary hyperhidrosis may be due to an excessive activity of the reflex arcs involved in
sweating. In primary hyperhidrosis, the cause is unknown and excessive sweating is localized in the
armpits, hands, face, and/or feet. When it is primary hyperhidrosis, it means that no known physical
cause can be found for the excessive sweating.
