Public Affairs Job Description
Chief, Social Media
Reports to: Director of Public Affairs
Function: Assists the Director and Wing Public Affairs Officers with the implementation and management of
Social Media for the CAP Public Affairs Program in North Central Region
Responsibilities include:
• Manage the NCR Facebook and other Structured Social Media for the region under the general
supervision of the director
• Assist the director with the development and implementation of the NCR Social Media PA Plan
• Collaboratively assist NCR Wings and units with implementation of Structured Social Media
• Serve as a member of the NCR Public Affairs Team
• Proactively seek out opportunities to publicize CAP and its successes, including coordination with
outside agencies and organizations to assure CAP is portrayed in the best possible light
• Promote a strong Safety and Operational Risk Management program within CAP
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Time Commitment:
• 2-3 Hours per week
• Monthly 1 hour PA Team conference call
• Monthly 1-on-1 call with the director
Preferred Requirements for the Position:
• Rank – Capt. or below, Senior Member NCO, or Flight Officer
• Experience – At least 2 years’ experience as Squadron Public Affairs Officer, knowledgeable about
Social Media applications
• Training – Rated at least Technician in the Public Affairs Specialty Track
• Permissions - Applicants must obtain permission from their unit and Wing Commanders
• Duty Assignment - This position does not involve a transfer to NCR headquarters, NCR-001
• Relationship to HQ, NCR - This assignment is in addition to the members’ other CAP duties. Members
would join the NCR Public Affairs Team with the understanding that their primary obligation is to their
assigned unit.
