2. INTRODUCTION
You have probably heard this many a times in the past from your elders
or teachers that there’s no definite shortcut to success. You need to
work your socks off to get yourself to your goal.
But is it really true?
There's no alternative to hard work which is true, in a sense; but, in
case you really want to get yourself up to the level of perfection, you
need to work smart to give yourself an additional edge over the
competitors in your business. Maybe the following tips can help.
3. 1. Draw diagrams
If you're looking to memorize Biology, Physics, or Chemistry diagrams,
draw them out. You will remember them better.
The same thing also goes for geometrical drawings.
2. Use the “Times New Roman” font
The Times New Roman font is widely considered as the most
comfortable font to read. It's, therefore, recommended to take down
notes in this font while you are on a computer. After all the more you
see, the quicker you remember.
4. 3. Teach
The best way of learning and remembering things is to teach what you
have just learned, especially in terms of a Layman. This can contribute a
lot to the long-term retention of information.
Ever heard of the Feynman Learning Technique? Have a look.
4. Integrate a reward system
“If you can complete this chapter in the next half an hour, two hours of
FIFA is guaranteed after nine.”
Try things like these. It does work.
5. 5. Take a walk
It’s a proven fact that exercise does indeed boost your memory and
brain power. So why don’t you take a 20-minutes walk around the
campus before diving deep into your studies (especially before your
exam day)?
6. Try to find connections with the real world
The ability to detect connections between abstract objects and the real
world is the fuel of intelligence and creativity. if you can connect the
text with the real world, remembering things would become nothing
but a piece of cake for you.
6. 7. Search Google like a professional
The following information may come in handy for your purpose:
i) Searching with quotation marks: Using quotation marks in your search
query lets you search EXACTLY for that word or phrase.
ii) Searching with dashes: “blind –player”- If you want to exclude a particular
term from your search results, insert a dash before the term.
iii) Searching with Tilde: “football ~classes”- Use tilde with your term when
you also want its synonyms to appear in the result. Example, The query
above would search for football, football coaching, football classes, etc.
iv) Searching with site: site:myprivatetutor.com- Use this operator to search
within a particular website.
v) Searching with vertical bars: shirt |jeans |frock- This query would search
only those websites having two or all of the above-mentioned terms.
vi) Searching with Two Periods: movies 1970..1980- Use two periods [..]
when you want to search within two number ranges.
7. A FINAL WORD
Periodic change of study environment can do your brain a whole lot of
good and can also make you remember things better.
Try it. You won’t regret it for sure.
